You can tell the playing conditions were a big problem for both players. Looks like the table is not playing the same as the other tables they are used to playing on.
That's just part of the game though, it shouldn't be a "big problem", that should merely be a very common mild adjustment in feel they need to make. Being a professional at that level, you're supposed to adapt to new playing conditions a lot of times, that's normal. Expecting every table you play on to be identical is ridiculous and slight variations in a table like that shouldn't suddenly cause your game to crumble. I'd understand that much impact on your game if we were talking about them having to suddenly play on a pub table with cheap, chipped balls and worn, shagpile cloths sure.
@@DM-kv9kj This table did look like it played quite differently off the cushions. Don't usually see Chris Melling completely miss off a cushion, pot the cue ball in the middle of a pocket and lose position so badly.
Very humbling to see 2 world champions struggle on an unfamiliar table, try going down the old Dutchman on table with beer all over it and balls like rocks 🤣
The match was shambolic, with the odd classic minute Melling clearance between the whoopsies. Either player could have lost the whole thing. I would love to see the interview- if Melling had only one word, surely it would be "relief".

Everything is "part of the game" until it's not and vice versa, like the ridiculous 'golden break' and making a deliberate foul a 'loss of turn' shot. While I don't mind flukes, "no lucky shots" is not rocket science either and is 'part of the game' already in other rule sets..
I never understood these complaints with the loss of turn rule. The alternative is to very heavily reward players for missing pots, so long as they cover the pockets. I always found the slow roll over the pocket to be a boring, stifling, slow, negative and uncreative way to play pool, and I'm glad it no longer has tactical value. As for 'deliberate fouls' (which loss of turn shots are not) - those are now loss of frame, and good riddance to those filthy tactics too.
@@snerbsnerb2454 The skill shot counter acts people blocking pockets whether it be intentional or not and a loss of turn shot is definitely a deliberate foul considering your potting the opponents ball on purpose while not potting any of your own.
@@saywhat303 yes in Blackball ruleset there's at least some recourse to unblock pockets via a skill shot, but it depends on the layout and often isn't on, and covering pockets is still tactically overpowered to the point where risk-avoidance is highly rewarded. My league used to play World Rules which is even more negative and often ended up with a total impasse for one or both players, leading to the frame dragging out with avoidant tactics. In International Rules, potting your opponent's ball is simply not a foul in any sense - so calling it a deliberate foul is just daft. Someone could equally call a skill shot in Blackball ruleset a deliberate foul, since it would be a foul in World Rules - it's pure nonsense.
@@snerbsnerb2454 Meh, all these rulesets are just heading towards American style 8 ball rules anyway (that work fine), but always just fall short with some stupid ideas made up by people that have nothing better to do with their time. Covering pockets is only over powered if the person doing it is playing against some idiot that doesn't see it coming. Plus it's not very prevalent in the high level games and to be quite honest, I don't see it much in the local pub league around here either. The loss of turn shot, dirty combinations after the break, golden breaks, golden ducks, total snookers, 6 ball shootouts are ALL stupid rules and in the latter's case... a circus act turning professional players into performing clowns. That didn't have to be me made and because they were, the game's player base is fractured with tournaments paying peanuts, because virtually nobody is interested in watching them. IMO the biggest problem with leagues and some of these rules applied in them, is the single frame format. Anybody can beat anybody in a single frame and while it's not very probable, it shouldn't even be possible for the worst team in a league to win season by not potting a single ball, which it is. Personally, I think it's the egos of those making the rules that prevent them from just fully embracing the American style 8 ball rules and unifying the game instead of making multiple bastardisations of them.

One of the craziest games I've seen
Pool is a hard game!
Even the pros screw up! No mercy 🎱 love it🇺🇸

WOW !!!!!!
That frame at 5 2 was amazing, I've seen my mate play better after 2 pints!

Where’s the Chris interview?
Opponents who play bad brings your pool down
I wish the description would tell me more about what stage of the event it is. I thought Chris is in Colorado playing there. Very confusing

I think clayton is relieved that melling fouled on the black the fram before which was for the win anyway @garethmcrae668
Very strange he made so many errors though 🤔
That fluke from Chris Melling to win the match OMG 😂😂😂😂
