Maybe if we had a 200mile protected Fishing zone the same as Norway, then the shore fishing this side of the North Sea could be just as prolific. We can all live in hope.

Yes indeed. The chances ? NIL. I may live for another 20 years. If I see another double figure cod I will be over the moon. This is a fish that grows to 70lbs +

I feel like a 9'6" steelhead spinning rod would work pretty good as well - a lot more sensitive for those finnicky bites. Beautiful scenery out there though - great video mate!

Hey wayne- NIce videos! as an avid surfcaster myself (based in bergen, norway) its interesting to see the different finesse you bring. I am however very curious what region you are fishing here? My advice woud be to try some deeper fjords in western norway. We get insane fish from here. Ling to 20kg, big cod , haddock, coalfish, tusk, huge pollock to about 10kg. e fish depths from 50-130m landbased usually. its a fascinaating fishery! cheers

I have been thinking about getting a multiplier and after watching this I think I probably will.
Your style of talking to us is very good, the peaceful and calm atmosphere is really what I love about it.
Myself, I am going out this weekend, going to fish on a beach, where normally I fish on a quay with lots of tidal pull from the river and tide colliding.
So this video in particular has been great for me to see how to find out what the depth and nature of the ground is in front of me.

    • @burtlangoustine1

All Multiplier fishermen, haven't you noticed, all get into the trap of staring at their reels constantly fearing their next tangle. Go watch any other videos. The curse is true, you get reel-fever.
My advice- multipliers are for 200LB big monsters. They cast further but lose more gear and tangle horrendously. Total Faff.

    Great video Wayne.
Quick question when casting with the rubber grippy thing under your thumb, do you allow it to stay under your thumb for the full duration of the cast? Or do you let it drop out of the way to stop the spool once the lead hits the drink?
    Cheers

As a norwegian its a bit strange to see surfcasting as there are normally no use for it, at some locations you reach depth of 300m or more just 100m out(in the fjords), if you toss 200m in sognefjorden you will be fishing at a depth of 1KM😝 (its nothing wrong with surfcasting tho, just uncommon)
