Burt ~ Hey. 💔 This just showed up on my feed after hearing Sundown Town. Fantastic artist. This is the America I want back. Thanks for heralding this song and great talent. Paz y luz. Brett Butler
I first heard this song live when Adeem opened for the Mountain Goats, and was floored. So many of their songs are witty and humorous, and this was just right there in the middle. I was an instant fan, bought the shirt, and told as many people as if could after.
Love your reactions Burt. With all respect to your knowledge of lyrics and music, I don't agree that the line "mama's gonna be so proud of me" isn't deep or profound with regard to the song. I think it's the crux of one of the 2 major themes to the song, that of doing what's expected of you rather than what you truly want, in this case to the narrator's ultimate demise. I think the line conveys all of that dynamic in one simple turn of phrase, which, when coupled with the rest of the lyrics, makes it very profound. Love your videos and love adeem the artist.
Such an incredible portrait of the pride and pain of getting raised up in the south. Unfortunately this is the approach that too many folks down here take to mental health, especially in the veteran community. This is a top 10 album for me this year, and a top 3 song. Great breakdown Burt! It’s good to see Craig on that upright too. The accompaniment is perfect on this version.
What a song, instantly purchased the album, great find!!!! Absolute killer to listen too, but yet I have it on repeat. Thanks for sharing and hope you and the family have a blessed Christmas
This song always hits hard. We've lost so many veterans to suicide and no efforts to help them, like stopping sending them overseas to die for nothing.
Please react to “As Time Passes” by Sam Barber. He is 18 years old and just released this song 5 days ago. He is without a doubt the best kept secret in all of country music and once people catch on he will be a star!!
Hell of a song. But honestly, for me, the guy punch song of the year is a song that’s in a completely different ballpark. It’s from a British guy named Ren. And the song is called ‘Hi Ren’ And it’s a song that’s just him and an acoustic guitar and it’s his good and evil sides having a conversation. But it’s the most gut wrenching song I’ve ever heard because I can relate to it so much. I always have that little devil on my own shoulders who tells me I’m not good enough despite knowing that I am. I would love to see you do a reaction to it. It’s a little different than the style that normally do videos to, because it’s more like spoken word Poetry overlaid on a guitar track, but I just KNOW the song would blow your mind. Please give it a reaction. You won’t be sorry. Love you videos, Burt. Keep em coming.
Gut punch song of the year?

Another top contender would be "The Strongest Stuff" by Gravedancer

Boy that was a deep one buddy. Really hits home for me being a vet. Definitely top 5 Gut punch if not number 1
Not even his best!! But I love it. Nightmare and Night Sweats make me tear up every time! Adeem is awesome!!

It's so good and thanks for watching Keith!

One of my favorite artists this year. You’ve gotta do “wish you would’ve been a cowboy”.
Is this the new John Prine?
Adeem has said that Prime is a huge influence, so that would be a huge compliment to them. 🙂
Being the reason why the freezer is full & able to eat well is plenty deep.
Gut Punch of the Year for me is "Save the World" by Jason Isbell

It sounds to me like everything the narrator did was to please others, and never for himself. Maybe that’s what led to the result.

Adeem uses they/them pronouns. Great reaction otherwise
