The picture symbolizes the two versions of the main character during the movie. The plot is a bit of a mess. More so the dialogue and writing. It's convoluted and confusing, but not like Inception where it clicks at some point and the pieces all come together. Like, can you actually tell me what the villain's final plan was? Why they needed those metal box things that piece together? What the whole operation at the end was for? Can you accurately recall all of that? I can't. It made no sense. So I just enjoyed the ride of the music and action. I'll definitely rewatch this in the future, but I don't expect to understand it much better, it's just not built that way, it's just poorly written in certain ways.

I think Kat finishing off Sator is a great subversion of old spy film tropes on Nolan's part. And what's great about it, it's the kind of subversion that doesn't brag about how subversive it is. A love interest who is also related to the main villain almost always ends up disposed of in Bond films for the sake of giving Bond desire for revenge against the villain. But in this film it's set up so that the main hero can't destroy the bad guy, and instead it's Kat who performs the act of revenge on the villain. Which makes more sense on an emotional level than if it was The Protagonist who did so. Sator was abusing and tormenting Kat for years. The Protagonist is just someone who's got in his way. So it gives her character more justifiable place in the story to repay him for what he's done to her.

There is almost every theme of the whole OST layered on it with different renditions. Be it Protagonist theme in piano, Neils distorted string theme & also Kats theme which is more of a echo of voice than the full on string section in *Betrayal*. I never thought I'd hear a score with leitmotifs in a Nolan film since you know what Zimmer usually does for Nolan... Just one or two themes which is just recurring throughout the score although great with incredible sound design yet sounds repititive with no leitmotifs for characters or shows any variety at all in the score with transitions. (TDK film series being the exception.) I'm glad Görannsson showed a lot of variety here with incredible transitions, rhytmic atonality & the retrograde writing for the score is just incredible. There is way more detail here that is best heard in better audio gear to truly see the work Ludwig put in.

@@liespersecond-lr5mk That was a cool and informative video, especially after finding out that the other two words of the Sator Square (Arepo, the man who faked the picture and Rotas, Sator's freeport company) it's very clear that Nolan didn't choose these words by accident. I love these hidden meanings, they give the movie so much more depth!

In Nolan's movies, the music is always one of the best characters.
I feel like the music is the real main character of the movie. The real protagonist. The visuals were following the mission of the "loose ends clean up" guy.

The background layering of the soundtrack "Betrayal" at 10:45 was absolutely AMAZING.
(TDK film series being the exception.)
I'm glad Görannsson showed a lot of variety here with incredible transitions, rhytmic atonality & the retrograde writing for the score is just incredible. There is way more detail here that is best heard in better audio gear to truly see the work Ludwig put in.
