I seriously don't get why people think mineta's quirk is useless. Everytime he uses it, it's always in the right moments and it helps a lot. To me Mineta is better than Shoji. All this time, all shoji does is reconnaissance( I know that's important but still), he doesn't actually fight even though he has six arms and beat everyone in the grip test.
So in the manga all the fights happened at the same time, and it was kind of back and forth between each one as they developed. Doing it like this is better for viewers because we see each fight in full with student commentary. We are however, deprived of a funny scene where all might, bakugo and deku have to ride to the testing area in complete silence, while all might asks if anyone wants to play a word association game.

Its all about trying to have a Character that fits the Quirk. A Girl with a quirk that can make people fall asleep(Thats more effective on Guys) is the perfect person to give a dirty character to
i hated the uraraka and laser person vs 13 battle so much.. she legit took advantage of the fact that 13 cant kill her, in a real battle, if 13 was a villain, in that very moment, uraraka would have died insta, but yeah
What's even more impressive is that Mineta is the only one to beat a teacher one on one so far.
He would probably beet the most of the 1a students aswell on a one on one fight.
