Most of this was shot-for-shot, but it included stuff that wasn't shown because the film cuts to Yoda fighting the Emperor as Anakin and Obi-Wan are having THEIR battle. And the scene at the beginning is from an arc that was originally gonna be in the final season of Clone Wars. Obviously, the Utapau arc was never finished, and ended up being cut.
Very impressive to animate all of this. Seemed more intense than the movie tbh 🤩

The animation included some deleted scenes from the original series such as the campfire talk between Obi wan and Anakin as well as the alternate duel with Dooku

The choreography was really great, reminded me of the fast paced fights of the clone series in the early seasons. But also has the fluidity and the smoothness of the season 7 clone wars.

Honestly, I think Anakin's "I hate you" is somewhat horrifying. Imagine if he actually died back there. The last thing Obi-Wan heard from his brother are those words. It's something that could haunt you up until your last breath.
That's the true realization that he was just completely gone. the little tattoine boy he met and raised was completely gone and he had truly believed everything he had ever done for him had failed.
Anakin wasn't talking about Ahsoka failing there. He was more likely referring to himself
No. The specific context of the dialogue was that Jedi are not supposed to let their emotions cloud their judgement, and that's precisely what Ahsoka did, when she left the Order. Yes, it's understandable that she was hurt by the Council abandoning her, but a true Jedi would've put their hurt feelings behind them. Ahsoka couldn't do that, thus she failed and disappointed Anakin. Of course Anakin himself is a big fat hypocrite, afterall, he had let his emotions cloud his judgement quite a few times by the time this episode was set, and is in fact doing so in this very scene, by not letting go of his own hurt feelings...
You can see the look on Anakin’s face as he bears sadness and guilt over what he did throughout the series and movies, but he knows that his actions can’t be reversed or deemed forgiven so he had to succumb to his anger and hatred
I think the audio for this came from the LEGO Skywalker Saga with some sprinkles of audio from Revenge of the Sith

Some of it is from games/movies, but there was a little AI voice-over, because some quotes were not aggressive enough. same quotes from same place, just, redone.

Obi wan has a really bad habit of not killing his enemies. First darth maul came back and then he left anakin alive without making sure to end it
To be fair he did chop Darth Maul in half and then he fell down. But yeah, it also could've been a mercy to kill Anakin right there. Being burned like that and catching fire. Not a good way to go.
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitive2 True, but IIRC, various sources, books, comics, etc, have stated that Obi-Wan didn't kill Anakin and "left it up to the Force"
To my knowledge, this was mostly shot for shot using dialogue from the film with slight alterations to make it look better. There was additional content that was created using some extra audio that was taken from leaked deleted scenes from the animation series and from the Lego Star Wars games, which used the same voice actors as the animation series.

3:57-4:01 This part is from behind-the-scenes footage of the Anakin Skywalker vs Count Dooku duel in ROTS.
4:13-4:25 This exchange along with most of the dialogue in this fan film comes from _LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga_ , which had Matt Lanter and James Arnold Taylor reprise their roles as Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi respectively. There are a few instances where we hear Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor as Anakin and Obi-Wan respectively, and we hear Natalie Portman as Padme Amidala near the end.
6:46-6:48 This shot is taken straight from the ROTS theatrical release poster.
13:01-13:22 If you listen carefully at the beginning of this part, you can hear Anakin say "Padme, help me" right before the mask connects with his suit. This is taken straight from the movie, but he says it quietly.
Without a doubt, this is my #1 favorite Star Wars fan film. The Obi-Wan vs Anakin duel on Mustafar from ROTS is my #1 favorite lightsaber duel in the entire franchise, so seeing it recreated shot-for-shot in TCW animation is a dream come true.
I loved the small details in this video. The air moving away when Vader's breathing first starts... and just before Anakin tries to leap over Obi-Wan when he claims the high ground, his eyes flash yellow when he channels the dark side.
Watching the ROTS fight in the Clone Wars animation really is something else. And its great.
Interesting to hear your opinion on the “I hate you line”. I’ve always loved that line because I feel like that was the true complete turn of anakin with his hatred for the one person that always had his back no matter what. And I personally feel like the delivery of it was emotional on Hayden’s side and of course with the flip of obi wan breaking saying “I loved you” in the past tense.
Anakin summed it all up, all the resentment in one word ( or 3), I think that's what the line is supposed to be. (He's defeated, seeming going to die, his last statement to Obi-Wan, all his hate at one time). Maybe because of all that (pent up feeling, pain) he became strong with the Dark side, enough to survive.
It made me think of a moment from Star Trek II - The Wrath of Khan where Khan is dying on the Reliant watching Enterprise try to escape. He quotes 'Moby Dick', I believe, and says "from hell's heart, I stab at thee. For hate's sake, I spit my last breath at thee."
At first, Anakin's "I hate you" seems rather redundant after he just spent 20 odd minutes trying to kill Obi-Wan in a duel. But if you think about it, yeah... he's defeated and his words are all he has left to attack Kenobi.
Most of the voice recordings for this were taken from the Lego Skywalker Saga video game, of which James Arnold Taylor (Obi-wan) and Matt Lanter (Anakin) provided voice work for
The part we're they do the same move the spinning then collide and then try to force push each other is not showing off but to show you master and apprentice know the same moves and how they know each other

The Battle of the Heroes theme always hit me hard, emotionally. 😭😭
It really is impressive how the people that worked on this made it look exactly like TCW animation, and got the voices from existing source material. No AI was used and nothing from the movies was used besides some of the quotes. All animation was done from scratch and nothing was superimposed either which is even more impressive. I can see why it took so many years to make. Not everything was shot for shot, but most of it was.
The lightsaber hand swap was also from a deleted scene in the Anakin and Obi-Wan vs Dooku fight in RotS. I like how they implemented that into this.
This fight hits even harder now because we all watched TCW, Anakin and Obi-Wan having a great time together, and seeing them with their exact TCW animation and voices, is, well...you get it. 😭😭
Hayden was a great actor, just had bad direction.
12:59 it’s low to hear but if you listen really close, you can hear Anakin say “padme help me…” right before the mask is on.
He didn’t say it in the film but in this version I feel it worked really well…more emotion to a terrible fate if you will.
he did say it in the film, but it was really really quiet, because his voice receptors were burned. In this fan film, they made it still quiet, but hearable

Pretty sure the move where anakin lets go of the saber to dodge obi wan was a behind the scenes move that never got used but theres clips of it on youtube used during rehearsals

I think with the "I hate you" they used his Clone Wars voice, which I guess means AI for this? I could be wrong but in the movies Hayden's delivery isn't as childish and feels more venomous and hateful. Other than this the fan film is pure 11/10. Phenomenal job and glad you liked it :)
Well Obi Wan said "I loveD you" as in past tense. Does that means he hates him now. What is the opposite of love? If that is the case, isn't Obi Wan saying the same thing?
You don't hate someone you don't care about. 😢 Though that doesn't mean you love them necessarily. Just that you have some emotional attachment to them 🤔

Only thing I wish they replicated was Obi-Wan itching his ass in the very next shot after he says he has the high ground. Seriously go and watch the actual scene you cannot tell me he doesn’t itch his ass.

That first scene from the beginning of the video was actually a part of The Clone Wars, but it got scrapped when Disney took over Lucas Film and they had to stop clone wars - leaving it as voice lines and incomplete animation, so it's really cool we got to see what it would have looked like completed!

What i love is Vader tries to pull off the same move Obi-Wan did to Maulmin tPM. And because Obi-Wan knows Anakin so well, he knows what Anakin would try to do in that situation. He tries one last time to try and counsel him against it. But in his arrogance, Vader refuses and doesn't realise that while Obi-Wan knows how to pull off that jump, he's also gone out of his way to know how to counter it as well.

Ahsoka walked into obvious traps multiple times and had literaly all the evidence against her. For the jedi to not convict her would have been corruption of thr highest order. Then when they found out that they failed they where willing to bring Ahsoka back in and promote her even though she did nothing to earn it. Hell even with Mace saying that the force made her stronger Ahsoka gave the same sentiment to the guy whose people where enslaved and starved so her kot liking it now shows how non existant her morals are. Well when Anakin is your master the fact that she isn't as big a sociopath as him is a victory.

my one issue little issue is just the dialogue at the start. I think Anakin should've said "if you failed me" instead, because I think he blames himself for failing ahsoka, just like he blames obi wan for failing him later(though deep down I think he blames himself for that and everything else too)
Though by the time of vader he does blame ahsoka, not for failing but for leaving him
It's mostly shit for shot except maybe the bit with the clones on Courscant being new
What I wouldn't do to see Filoni do the entire ROTS as a season of Clone Wars- with the perspective of the clones and more Jedi and Bail Organa and Mon Mothma added in.

Just saying here but i am french and you should at least check out the french VA of this scene (battle of the heroes) when i listened the first time the original voice (hayden Christensen) felt like an underplay in emotions in certain scene whilst other were really great but for me the french voice actor of anakin is the better version, so just saying if you could check that out even by yourself it'd be great. 😊
