So cool John! My father, Paco Romero, was actually one of the 3 drivers for John Fitzpatrick alongside Philippe Alliot and Michel Trollé. The team had two cars, did you happen to work with my father?
My third Le Mans, went early to see scrutineering, practice and qually as well as the race. In 84 we went on an organised tour, 85 took a caravan and stayed at the circuit, 86 we hired a gite about an hour away. This year was my 36 th visit, yikes, 12 fabulous days .
My first Le Mans .. Such great memories. This is the best quality video I have seen of the race. I remember sitting on the ledge that hangs above the pitlane - right above the Jaguar team for most of the night. It was awesome - we were so close to the action. Would be unthinkable today. Thanks for posting !
This was the last year of the truly great Circuit de la Sarthe. no chicane at Dunlop or on Mulsanne. What I would pay to see this version of the track again.
@@misteriosyrarezas5253 1989 was the last race without chicances on Mulsanne, but in 1987 they added a chicane at Dunlop, so as was the point of my original comment, 1986 was the last great circuit where the first half of the whole course was nearly flat out.
Fcuking brilliant, a joy to watch! Makes me feel old though, as I was there, just as a spectator. I even still have the Rothmans publicity posters of the works Porsches! Also, I took pics of the burnt out 961.
34 years, it's only been 34 years and you can see how there was no advertising or any of that marketing crap. Like I know they had that back then but my sweet Jesus how it is today.
Pescarolo never won anything??? Apart from 4 outright LeMans wins, 2 other class wins and a Daytona 24hr overall title on top of several sportscar and F2 wins...
I was there ,a mechanic,with john Fitzpatrick racing,good old days,fond memories......!!
I found this video for my father who was there too. Drove the #90 URD. I love watching these videos because I was too young to experience it.
Une époque formidable les années 80/90 étaient géniales, le groupe C m'a laissé un grand souvenir, ça allait vite et les voitures étaient ❤❤❤❤ belles

I was born a few months prior, so this running of Le Mans is special to me
R.I.P Jo Gartner
It’s amazing to see how much development has taken place on the Mulsanne straight. 1985 was my first Le Mans missed this year due to work.

Seeing the GT40 caught me off guard. Maybe it was a lineup of Le Mans winners over the years?
Of entries over the year, yeah. To show the progress.
0:59 stuck looks like Jeff Daniels haha
I see that people, even back then, moaned about how the Mulsanne was better
01:00 Pescarolo. He never won anything but was on every le Mans and Paris Dakar
