John as always outstanding job! I always love how you get us doing our job yet ALWAYS protecting EVERY patient first that is true respect and class brother 🚨🚑🚨🚒BIG thanks to the NYPD for always having our backs on jobs like this 🚨🚓🚨🚒🚨🚑🚨
One more time I am thoroughly impressed by the efficiency of the first responders in New York City. Thank you Mr. J for your extremely great reporting. I do hope the man that they rescued is okay.
John thanks as always for your humane coverage of a difficult event. As a counselor, my mind goes to you and all of the FDNY staff who are exposed to the tragedy and the effects of the important work you all do.
I retired from NYC Transit Car Equipment 4 years ago as a cleaner in the Coney Island Train Yard after 28 years. The worst job I had was to clean the undercarriage of a subway car (s) that came in contact with a person. Before Car Inspectors/ Accident Investigation can conduct an inspection of the mechanical equipment under the train I had to power wash the underbody, interior, or exterior after a crime scene. I always listened to a portable scanner at work .
FDNY and NYPD work well together. Thank you for the great content, and respect for the victim's. This type of situation happens more than should be. God Bless the victim.
Great video John as always of not only the coverage but also the respectful way you showed to the victome.Class act my friend. And another great job by the FDNY.
Thank you for a respectful and yet informative video of the multitude of situations faced by the FDNY. I was filled with both the horror and sadness of of the incident as well as an overwhelming nostalgia for the 34th St station and Macy's. As I have often mentioned as a 12 year old kid from Brooklyn, with with my 4 year old brother in tow, I woulud take the West End Line to 34 th St to buy 45 RPM records of all the current popular songs at Macy's B/C they had the best price. BTW, I used the tip money I earned hauling groceries in my wagon from the local supermarket (BOHACK?) to the Shore Haven Apartments near 20th Ave and Cropsey Ave in Bath Beach.
Oof that wound looks bad. The members did a great job to extract the person and hopefully that person can realize though life might be difficult it’s better to see another day than to end it. Thanks again John for your content!
Quite a lot going on here. I know that you can't always get the pre-arrival traffic so, it's a treat when you do. I'm glad they got the person safely out and hope that they are recovering and doing well.
Nice video John. Good job respecting the victims privacy. One heck of a response by FDNY very impressive. Thank you. The hydrant water at the end looks yummy 🤢
A lot of equipment responded. You never know what equipment you will need during a rescue and it is best to have potentially needed equipment already on site. Good job, FDNY rescue.
Hi John, yet another of your excellent videos. I went to several 'one under' incidents, as they are called in the London Fire Brigade during my service with the LFB. We saw the members decontaminating themselves after the recovery of the victim, which brought to mind that it isn't just, as one of your followers said, the pathogens that they were dealing with, but the fact that the undersides of trains and the tracks, particularly for us the Underground trains, are really filthy with dirt, grease and other debris. I was pleased to see the way the Squad's crew were chatting together afterwards, it's a great form of self counselling. Although sad, it was just another job done well by the FDNY. I really feel that the FDNY should recognize the great publicity you provide for them internationally, well done. Murray.
Nice catch... Now of all members at scene, NYPD, FDNY.. engine, trucks, squad n rescue... Find the member with the highest salary... Then double that salary.. and that should be the absolute minimum salary for rescue medics. I said what I said..
I know exactly where that was,and if I am correct this has been happening a lot lately, but thank you for the great coverage and being so discreet this is actually new for us all especially watching the members decontaminating the gear2N2 see you soon brother!! 20:27
You were right on it! NICE!!! So, what's up with this FDNY Rescue Medic? What kind of specialized training do they have? Why the orange tac helmet? How many units does NY have? 13:44 man under bag? Do all fdny crews carry these?
RESCUE MEDICS HAVE A WIDER AMOUNT OF TRAINING AND CAN GO INTO VERY SERIOUS SITUATIONS TO RENDER MEDICAL ASSISTANCE TO SOMEONE TRAPPED IN A VOID WHERE THEY MEDICAL TREATMENT BEFORE BEING REMOVED AND RESCUE.....THEY ALSO HAVE ALL SORTS OF OTHER TRAINING.....I AM NOT SURE ABOUT HOW MANY UNITS THEY HAVE BUT THEY HAVE THEM ALL OVER THE CITY.....I AM NOT SURE ABOUT THE HELMUTS OTHER THAN THEY DO HAVE DIFFERENT MEANINGS AND COLORS.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
They weren't doing CPR so I assume he didn't get electrocuted. Hope he will be ok. The members were doing a good job of shielding him from the on lookers too. I can't believe they had to carry him up all of those stairs, those baskets are heavy. Thanks for this.
Another great video.... But train Vs human usually ends fatally for the human... I was very lucky to have had no fatalaties during my 40-year career of driving trains in UK, so no visits to the Coroner's Court for me.... but I know plenty who weren't as lucky, including one driver who had more than 10, who was affectionately known as the Grim Reaper.... Just imagine though, with the power isolated, there would be numerous trains stalled in tunnels with hundreds, if not thousands of people stuck on them, who would have to be detrained and walked along the tracks to the nearest station if the incident was going to be of long duration, hence the huge response by the emergency services...
YES, I AGREE BUT THERE ARE RARE CASES WHERE PEOPLE SURVIVE.....TRAINS ARE NOTHING TO PLAY AROUND WITH.....SADLY THIS HAPPENS IN NEW YORK CITY OFTEN.....;o( THANKS SO MUCH CASEY.....
John great coverage of the team operation of the FDNY, FDNY EMS NYPD Emergency Services. You show great compassion and dignity for the casualty/ patient...I just have one question for you, how did they get to the casualty/ patient. Did they go through the floor of the train or did the go between the cars.
THEY USUALLY GO BETWEEN THE CARS AND THEN ON TO THE TRACKS SEAN.....IT VERY SADLY IS A NORMAL THING NOW A DAYS IN NEW YORK CITY.....SOMETIMES 2 TO 5 PEOPLE A DAY.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
Rescue medics do car extractions or water rescues or high rise rescues or this scenario of a person pinned under a train, medics are more experienced with actual bls and als (basic life support advanced support) equipment where there’s no special apparatus needed for the person itself. Anyone correct me if I’m wrong.
Must be a traindrivers worse nightmare, I have seen similar things over here in Australia, which have forced drivers to leave their job suffering severe PTSD. Some trains are so long and traveling too fast to stop in time
I worked for a shortline Railroad on Maintenance of Way. Any time there is an major accident the Train Crew and MOW usually do not forget. PTSD happens there is help but sometimes people have to retire.
My friend's son in law works for the transit Authority. A guy was hit by a train and his legs were cut off. The guy survived. The son in law had to go down the tracks to look for the legs and bring then back. I'm happier that my job just involves writing about consumer goods.
I hate to break your bubble but NYCTA employees do not touch human body parts on the tracks, it’s ESU’s job or FDNY. THE NYCTA response crew only responds to put sand over blood on the track area. I know this for a fact.
@@25yrsotj Technically, you're probably right. But people are often told to do things that aren't part of their work description-regardless of where they work.
looked like a fast extrication, and the people that continue to walk in and around the members like nothings going on, disrespectful in my eyes, get out da f n way, geez, trying to save a life here. nice work jj
DOA? I’m assuming. They were not doing CPR which does not necessarily mean the patient died but the patient was not attached to the monitor as you can see it on a medics back carrying it behind the stretcher. In a case of man vs train being on the monitor would be essential in a trauma patient. I also did not see any saline bags being held up. I did not see any type of oxygen or BVM or intubation equipment. All they were doing was carrying the patient out and to the ambulance. And shielding is very important especially in a death because that image can scare the general public. And as for the decontamination…if someone is hit by a train, severe trauma, there would be blood everywhere. Blood everywhere including the patient would definitely get onto the turnout gear the firemen wear and you do not want blood on your gear so you spray it with peroxide or some kind of anti pathogenic to kill the pathogens and the water from the hydrant is simply to rinse any blood off as well as any dirt and grime.
Also when transferring to the stretcher you can clearly see a massively deformed right foot stained with blood. So no splinting. This has DOA written all over it.
Holy smoke. Was that music the subway plays or was that a street show? Whoever that was doesn't need to quit their day job. Ugh! Excellent coverage as expected from you though. That foot looks... well at least its a survival and not the worst that happens under the trains. :(
I'm genuinely sorry if I offend you with this reply but I think that you over stepped the mark with this video. What you witnessed was someone having likely the most worst day, possibly the last day of their life. OK, video the response on the street but to go down on the platform and get close to what was happening is, in my opinion wrong. What do you think that the Brothers were washing off their turnouts under the hydrant at the end of the video? That in itself should be enough to be an indication of what happened down on that line. I didn't watch the video through. Having served for 31 years as a firefighter (now retired) I've seen more than enough to make me want me to watch it on video. I generally enjoy your videos and thank you for them, but in this case I think that you went too far. Again, I'm sorry if what I've said offends or upsets you.
