Hello @The Guinness Guru new subscriber here glad i found this channel as i love Ireland , my Granny is 95 from Dublin originally now in the UK and the Guinness is keeping her going strong , she has dementia but still enjoys the Craic and sings along the Dubliners old band but very fun to listen to.
I visited Carrick on Shannon in 1997 and I loved it! So many boozers in such a small place. This video has brought some great memories back of that trip, thanks Guru! I do have to say that back then, the best Guiness I had on my Ireland tour was in Enniskillen. I stopped at a lovely old girls house next to the Railway Station in Carrick . I had a good chat with her and she thanked me for that because the other 2 rooms had Europeans in there and they didn't talk. She offered me a whiskey and I opted for a Powers because I'd never had it before. Lovely! Her cat called Jack came in through the cat flap and just stood next to the milk dish. The old girl said don't worry Jack, it'll be there in a minute! She put some milk in the pan, warmed it up, and then put it in the milk dish. Jack is not moving! She then gets the Powers whiskey bottle, fills a cap full of it and pours that in to the warmed milk and stirs it. Jack the lad is now on it! To this day I have never seen anything like it! Thats why I loved my Ireland trip!

Hey Daragh, whats up. Albert in berlin here. A bar in berlin is claming that they are going to offer the best guinnness (galway standard) in berlin starting on October 22nd. They claim they will do this by increasing the nitrogen levels from 70% to 75%, among other optimisations. I was chattimg with my irish roommate and he said theyre the real deal. If youre planning an outing in germany‘s capital city, i suggest that it be on this date and end in this pub. The pub is called Zossi by the way. I have already curated a list of the top guinness in berlin, the highest being a 6.8, happy to send it along also if required
I think when doing multi-pub tastings, or any tasting really, start off with a canned guiness poured as best you can in a glass. That way its a base line for all the pubs to come, and there isn't any "bias" in your mind that the first guiness automatically will be at an advantage.
@@BearSharkHybrid will there be a 9.9? If the scale isn't out of 10 then what does an 8.6 even mean and if it is out of 10 then it has to be possible to get a 10..if the scale is really out of 9 he should say
@@oracleoftruth if you give a pint a 10 and then you get a better pint in the next pub, where do you go from there? Go look at Dave portnoys pizza scale for reference. 9.4 is the best he’s ever given but there’s always room to go higher
@@BearSharkHybrid you have to have an idea of what perfect is. You don't need to go higher if you have the perfect beer (or pizza). But if the scale doesn't go to 10 what does it go to?
They look amazing pints👌Well Guru you were in my hometown Manchester da other month and had a great pint in Mulligans 👌Now come to Castlebar Mayo where I’m living since Oct21 .There’s some top Guinness especially John McHales and The Cobweb 👍
Savage pint in swan bar , had 2 before dinner at buffalo boy, boy, wasnt fantastic in flynns, but had over 10 in dunnes across road class pint and massive outdoor area
Guinness never worked as a nightclub drink , period! Guinness is a 3-5 pints to taste . Anything after that isn’t judgeable . Mothers milk is the aim 👌🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
The technology fails are a huge draw to these videos for me. Love the inclusion of the shitty drone footage 👌In between skulling pints, some more below-par camera work would be hilarious without making reference to it. Maybe I'm alone on that one.
Sean’s bar in Athlone does the best pint, I have ever tasted!!🙂👍 Diago are not doing Guinness any favours, and in my opinion the brewery should be returned to the Guinness family
@@cormac3542 I'm sure they do but I'm also sure they probably don't like the town being invaded by "outsiders". I suppose it could be worse... At least it's mustly Irish and not not the real outsiders as Bull McCabe calls them!

He's been in the UK drinking too much of the cold muck, says it at the start of the video...a couple of control pints in his local was probably needed to recalibrate the pallet

Darragh - you need to trust your gut when scoring. It doesnt need to be comparable it just needs to feel right to you in the moment.

9s are the best of the best, there'll never be a 10 so 8.6 is really solid

The best pint of Guinness is without doubt in Fealty's, Bangor Co.Down. Two taps, one cold, one room temperature. The perfect balance and taste.

A few towns have gone down that road, Wexford and Carlingford and obviously Kilkenny.
