The second movement is charming and beautiful. I had never heard until now but should have.

Repent and trust in Jesus. He's the only way to Heaven. We've all sinned and deserve Hell. Sins like lying, lusting, etc. Repent and trust only in Jesus, and you will be saved! You can be saved because he took the punishment for our sins on himself when he died on the cross, just like someone can pay your speeding fine in court, and you get off free.

Nobody mentioning that the beginning of this was later quoted by Mozart, quite literally, in one of his best-known symphonies

Mozart was a genius since he was 4 years old; his father wouldn't have been enough to make him become the great composer he achieved to be. JC Bach made the magic blow. Who else could have got that! The son of our wholy Father JS BACH. This symphony is the perfect Master piece that shows the very begining of the authentic clasicism. How magnificent OMG!!

The opus 18 is one of the best known works by J.C.Bach. This symphony is indeed wonderful. Its construction is perfect. The effects of piano and forte enhance this construction. the so-called rococco language is here at its best.

JC Bach is always fantastic. Even in the structure of strict classical forms he keeps it exciting.

    J.C. Bach Symphony No.6 in G minor, Op.6
Johann Christian Bach - Symphony in E-flat major for two orchestras, Op.18, No.1
Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach - Simfonia in F Major, Wq 175
    C.P.E. Bach / Symphony in E minor, Wq. 178
    J.C.F.Bach Sinfonia in D minor WFV I:3
The four musically-talented-in-their-own-right sons of J.S. Bach (Wilhelm Friedman, Karl Philip Emmanuel, Johann Christoph Fredrick and Johann Christian) have been neglected way too long and it is absolutely time that all of their surviving works be recorded on both vinyl records and CD's to be enjoyed for years to come. Please note that their music had a very profound influence on Mozart, the Haydn brothers and nearly all of their contemporaries.

Am I the only one who thought the slow movement could have been written by Haydn?

    • @elaineblackhurst1509

Far too feminine, sensuous, cantabile, gentle, predictable, balanced, beautiful, et cetera to be Haydn who had an entirely different way of composing.
      Much closer to Mozart!

I could give you a list twice as long of Haydn’s very particular qualities; the point is that they would be very different from those of JC Bach.
JC has much more in common with Mozart; Haydn’s characteristics have much more in common with CPE Bach - and Beethoven in the next age.
