I think the licensing issue was actually the one over ownership of friday 13th, basically 2 people are fighting over who actually owns it which is why no films have come out with the name, but some have under different names

@Finzi The licensing issue is _all_ that matters. It's the reason why there's been no major updates, there was actually one set to come out right when the devs were told they could no longer update. The game was doing fine in player count, and there were actually great strides in mitigating cheating.
The licensing issues IS THE ISSUE due to it they are legally not allowed to update the game all because two people are trying to have a bigger dick contest a beloved franchise is dieing/dead due to their actions and in all honesty the license isn't worth what it was when they fought originally which is a shame

Sam is **sorta** right? they didn't exactly lose the license, the copyright for Friday the 13th was put into a dispute since the original creator decided to sue for it (he sold it decades ago) which means no more content could be made or uploaded to the game effectively killing it, the lawsuit was expected to last for a very short time since he had no grounds but he has re-sued 2 or 3 times since the first time meaning it effectively killed the IP as a whole and it got to the point where they just chose to move on and make the Leatherface game, it does suck tho cause they even stated that they already had everything for the F13 Part 10 content (JasonX) completed and ready and they were very sad no one would ever see it beyond the easter egg

It had a lot of potential imo, but yeah after they were told no more updates it meant there was no more anticheat updates
