I think Dave’s technical skills or lack thereof are irrelevant. The man is a performer. He puts on a powerhouse show, period. The same cannot be said of many musicians. He and the Foo Fighters are electric and magnetic LIVE.
Indeed! I only did middle school band, but I had a great instructor who said being technically good is so important. But it doesn't mean much without musicality, which is felt in a performance, and where we find our personal expression. If you look at all the musicians we love listening to today... Maybe they learned some technical skills, and maybe they didn't. But it's the performance like you said .... Or musicality like my old band director said, that we hang onto
Check tenacious D with dave grohl on drums. He has a great solo in it. Also Queens of the stone age live with Dave in drums, im sure theres more but thats what i can remember for now
Check out Play by Dave Grohl. It’s on TH-cam. There’s also a clip of him and Taylor playing the intro to My Hero side by side and of then playing Stacked actors with. a third percussionist. Check out his performances with Them Crooked vultures there are a couple on TH-cam. There are a few festival clips of him with Queens of the Stone Age and a great intimate show of him with QOTSA at the Beacon theater. I think too there’s footage of him playing for Juliana and the Licks, Wet Leg and for NIN on With Teeth. Lots of stuff hanging out with him in it. Also check out his Hanukkah sessions performance with Jack Black and Greg Kurstin playing The Spirit of Radio. Check out all of the Hanukkah sessions because he sings and plays in almost all of them Have Dave Grohling!!

His smile at the end omg 😂
The smile while he’s playing at the end … 😊 Dave seems to have never lost the joy of a kid playing drums

I’d rather see a drummer like this than some fundamentally perfect, machine drummer playing with triggers and lightly tapping at light speed.

Idk why people keep pretending dave is just a basic drummer with no technical prowess whatsoever the man has serious chops
My favorite Punk Rock drummer.

WARNING: the man is a rare gem to this world.

People think Dave is a legendary drummer because he hits the drums hard ...smh
Dave's more famous because the man is good at making catchy sounds, fills, songs ext, while still sounding unique and not cliché
Listen to no one knows by queens of the stone age. Then come back
Guitar hero? Drum hero?
Nah
Dave is a melodic hero , a band mate hero and that’s it
