- Machiavelli's 'The Prince' is a 16th-century power guide. It offers leaders tips on maintaining and increasing power. The book is famous for valuing success over ethics. It suggests that achieving goals matters more than morals.
This was narrated by Joshua Graham (TTS) From Fallout new vegas. Who was voiced by Keith Szarabajka.

This voice is just perfect for these types of books
Art of war, five rings, meditation, all of platos works, illiad, oddyseey, Shakespeare, so many possibilities and ones I hope to see posted.
I loved reading those great works and hearing them narrated by Joshua graham would be amazing
Alll i want is platos work
I disagree on Shakespeare.
The fact we keep reading Shakespeare in dull books with no stage flair is the entire reason why people don’t enjoy Shakespeare.
He wrote stage plays not books. And we should enjoy Shakespeare in movies and theater plays the way he envisioned.
Aww hell yeah, Joshua lecturing Caesar on how to keep power for about 3 hours!!
This is funny on a couple of levels lol
Caesar must have read The Prince considering his upbringing.
Really adds immersion to this God tier ASMR
Ave Caesar!
Have you even read the prince?
2:42:55 *"WE CAN'T EXPECT GOD TO DO ALL THE WORK"*
1:45:03 "I don't enjoy killing, but when done righteously, it's just a chore like any other"
@@General-Grievance nice
I've been listening to Joshua Graham read me bedtime stories for weeks now and I can honestly say it's made me a better person.
Omg I thank you so much for this what an absolute W book title. Fucking top tier man
Your enthusiasm is truly appreciated! :)
Chapter 14 to like, 19 are my favorite chapters.
This book was a really hard read because of inline citations. Glad this took that out.
Was hoping someone would do this. Thank you for your work.
Hope you enjoyed it. :)
Awesome was looking for this
Thank you for this!! Ill listen to Joshua read anything!
Good shit, Courier.
Thank you.
23:00-24:25 wow. that is profound and still true today.
This is now the only time I'm willing to listen to audiobooks, when Joshua Graham reads them. Do you take requests? I really need Joshua Graham reading Paradise Lost in my life, please and thank you!
People are free to request, but i'll most likely pick a book that interest me the most at the given time.
so no promises.
@@wattehell something even more interesting would be a tutorial video on the method you use for this. I think it is the future not just of Audiobooks but of _voiced content_ itself and it would be awesome to learn.
It's been done.
Absolutely one of my favourite books
The gulag archipelago’s read by joshua graham would be pretty cool.
I am indeed interested in doing that at some point.
I have you thought about this former Legate reading The Republic by Plato?
I have indeed.
The way he said Machiavelli
Love this type of stuff!
This is beautiful
amazing!
Would you ever consider having Joshua Graham read Thomas Hobbs Leviathan?
I'd love to hear him read Thomas Carlyle's French Revolution.
Any chance you could do Dante's Inferno/The Divine Comedy next? There's one on TH-cam already but the audio/AI quality isn't as good as yours.
Won't promise anything, since I haven't chosen what i'll do next.
The superior Mandelbaum translation is available for free at Digital Dante.
I see several people in the comments that missed the point of this book.
The Prince was a sarcastic diatribe directed at the Medici family
Could you do a reading of his Discourses on Livy?
Joshua Graham reads how to read a book next please
Jesus this is the true power of A.I
sounds like the guy who did the intro for the 90's Berserk anime
Awsome can i recomend leviathan another great book
Yes, anyone is welcome to give their recommendations, but I'll most likely pick a book that sparks my interest the most, since I do listen to these as well.
I figured I'd share the work, just in case people were interested in this type of content.
So no promises. :)
@@wattehell cool i always thpught a good book for daniel would be of mice and men because of the stories about loss of innocence just like how daniels side of the dlc is about.
Think about these concepts versus a modern country like the USA or China or Japan. What would it take to uproot these places and what would it look like after you've succesfully utilized some of the ideas in this book? Interesting studf to ponder about for a bit
I think Joshua would like The Breakdown of Nations by Leopold khor
Can you also please make Meditations by Marcus Aurelius without the SFX?
Thank you!
It's very unlikely I'll do one in the near future, considering that a few TH-cam channels already produced content on this topic two weeks ago. However, it is not ruled out for future consideration.
@@wattehell the reason I requested was because they used SFX of a fire burning in the background which is distracting while listening. It would have been much better without it.
@@sophos7018 Understandable.
Please do his other book, Discourses on Livy, thank you!
2:14:50 - Pay close attention to this, as this right here is occuring all over the world, every day and has become exponentially worse.
Paradise Regained on the table?

May I ask what edition of the Prince he’s reading?
@Brendan O'Connell
This particular ebook is based on a transcription from Project Gutenberg --> www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/1232
on digital scans from the Internet Archive --> archive.org/details/princethe00machuoft/page/n13/mode/2up
@@wattehell you might want to put that underneath the information of the video so people may read along that’s what I do at least
Do you know what edition the audio is. Is he reading the first edition, second, Oxford word classic edition?
This particular ebook is based on a transcription from Project Gutenberg --> www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/1232
on digital scans from the Internet Archive --> archive.org/details/princethe00machuoft/page/n13/mode/2up
How long does it take for you to make these and what software did you use?
The Prince was done in 2 days but can be done in one day easily, since it only has like 90 pages.
I used elevenlabs and shotcut.
@@wattehell thanks, i might do some of these too
Seriously, shouldn't Mr. House read The Prince?
Gonna use this to play Stellaris 😂
Is it the whole book ?
Yes, I left out the front and back matter in the book.
@@wattehell so your telling me I can read a book out loud in about 2 hours?
@@1ofthelastrockers yes but you would know and understand less then who ever took there time
It’s a 90 page book
Can you do the 48 laws of power
Once I've finished with Carl Sagan's "The Demon-Haunted World," I'll contemplate delving into "The 48 Laws of Power." However, I can't make any guarantees at this point.
