If each sword only scales to one stat does that mean the AR is misleading? Is each sword’s actual AR is only equal to the physical damage + one element? Because if so why not just run SONAF + an infused straight sword instead? You get a better weapon art and moveset that way. Is it just for the novelty of using a cool weapon?
I tried with my 2nd character and you can get to Shadowrelm blessing 14 without killing a single boss. That makes Rellana and the early bosses like Divine Beast waay easier
High lvl Brass Shield + Barricade Shield ash of war. Use it to tank her twin moons spell if you can't time it well enough to jump over it. But be sure to be almost full hp because the third pulse of that attack will shear off alot of your hp even blocking. With Barricade Shield stamina will not be an issue during that attack.
It's not that hard, everyone been complaining about the boss difficulty but if you get scadutree fragments and have a build that makes sense, all the bosses can be beaten, that's how I beat them.

They are in the same family house. SONAF and Rellana's paired swords both originate from carian manor. SONAF is back when carians were astrologers and lived alongside the giants (thus the flame is giantsflame) and way before marika (which is also why it has a comet azur being closer to the primordial current) and rellana's swords are after marika's invasion of the giants and carians moving to Liurnia, with rellana (who is a carian princess and the sister of Renalla which is why the magic bit is the color of carian sorcery) herself being able to use messmer's flame due to her close association with Messmer, placing the origins of the swords quite squarely after marika invaded the giants.
One more thing to take into account, after two handed jumping/rolling attacks, the following r1 attack is actually the last attack in the chain, which means it will do about 50% more damage with the twinblade talisman!
You can equip the milady light greatsword in your off hand while still retaining the full ash of war of rellana's twin blades and the light greatsword moveset. Infuse the milady with bleed or frostbite to add some status to this build to take it to the next level.

Don’t forget: The *Spellblade Armor set* will buff the *Moon and Fire Stance’s Light input!* Just make sure you have *25 Endurance* if you wear the set since you’ll be able to *Light-Roll* with it (Without any off-hand weapons)
It will only work with moon/magic it does not work on the fire... It's the same with sword of night and flame. I will test but it shouldnt work with fire unless it's a bug.
From my own testing, it seemed that the mainhand sword did only phys+magic damage, while the offhand only did phys+fire, similar to the Dancer's swords from DS3, thus making the faith+intelligence investment much worse than its high listed AR would lead one to believe. Still the best way to utilize the two skills, but substantially weaker for the regular moveset. Quality does seem to be the ideal way to build around these swords unless you plan on playing L2den Ring.

These swords are probably my favorite weapon that I'll never personally use, but after this video I kinda want to experiment with it now. Great vid as always, Crightt
it's really heartening to see that i ended up more or less replicating the broad strokes of this build when i tried to construct one myself (except i got more stats to work with due to being in ng+ at lv235).
For those that do not want to use milicent prostesis and have 60 vigor. Here is the stat spread for level 150 astrologer vigor - 60 mind - 20 endurence - 24 strenght - 14 dexterity - 18 intelligence - 42 Faith - 42 arcane - 9 Talismans: Rotten winged sword insignia, godskin swaddling cloth, shard of alexander and dragoncrest greatshield. Some notes - with 24 endurence you can actually wear scaled set without the helmet and still have better resistances and 6 more poise. With the scaled armour (even without the helmet) you could use the crimson amber medalion +3 instead of dragoncrest greatshield talisman. Godskin swaddling cloth could be replaced for blessed blue due talisman, so you can spam the ash of war and have 12 crimson flask and only 2 blue flask. Blessed blue due talisman FP regeneration is actually very usable, allowing for even full caster builds to have minimal amounts of blue flasks. As a result, builds that only use FP for buffs and and ashes of war do not really have to worry too much and just have 2 blue flasks ready just in case.
What would you recommend on higher levels (I'm 173 right now)? Should I continue upgrading my int and fth or should I switch to str or dex at some point? And when should I stop leveling int/fth?
@@MasterMojo85 If I were you I would level up int and fth until 55 (that will require level 176), after that it is up to you if you want to try and go for level 180. If you do, then I would recommend increasing your endurence to 28 and if you want to go as far as level 200 then upgrade endurence to 30 and both str and dex to 25. 30 endurence should allow you to wear a bit more without heavy roll and 25 dex/str will make melee attacks a bit more powerful lowering that 9% AR gap even more. Also having 55 int/fth will make golden order seal have 355 spell scaling and staff of the great beyond have 321 spell scaling allowing you to use more damaging spells in case you'd want to do some ranged combat.
I had a feeling that those day 1 build vids cashing in on the hype of new weapons were only seeing one side of the equation. Professor Chrightt has taught us well ❤
Honestly just throw away the fire sword and power stance with a cold milady instead. Focusing only in dex and int, you have much higher both in ar and ashes of war.

I have I higher level 70 / 60 int faith build and these swords are devastating. The fire art is very good at killing ganks in invasions. These are soo slept on! Great video!
Where this weapon truly becomes incredible is with a very highly grinded level character above 300, where you have softcap maxed int+fth and also str+dex in the 50's. The magic art cuts tough heavy armored mobs like cake, while the fire art makes you feel like a damn boss. Waterfowl dance? Please, how about firedragon cat5 storm, and with high melee stats to boot with all the rotational slicing, with a good scadutree blessing level you feel like coming back to Limgrave after handling Malenia. Still get 3 shotted by bosses and some spearmobs, but the spectacle finally retired my trusted night&flame.
Definitely my favorite weapon from the DLC. I run it on a dex/int build and still get ample damage. Weapon art magic wave is nearly on par with the Moonlight, and the fire attack though weaker since my faith is only high enough to wield this is a good "get off me" button since it staggers. I combine this with a milady on my main hand so I can switch between the milady stance weapon art for a pure physical attack, and then two handing this to get the magic/fire weapon art.
I fucking love this weapon, it's so perfect. Strong but not OP, looks amazing, cool moveset, feels unique, also works well as a sword and shield and it looks cool when the smaller sword is on your back while holding a shield.

I’m not sure if I will do a build with them. But you’re hands down the best at breaking down complex weapons. Int/faith as a combo comes with many perks.
I began my current playthrough as a pure INT mage and then pivoted about a third of the way through the game, to an Int/Faith Twinblade build, based on this video. Ultimately, I ended up changing out to powerstanced 2x Sword of Night and Flame instead, as those weapons do a bit less damage overall but are a bit more reliable in terms of poise damage (in my experience) and more importantly, their art of war is absolutely cracked, vast improvement over Rellana's Twinblade. I hope this weapon gets buffed a bit (or that light greatswords get more poise damage overall in PvE) because the moveset was extremely fun.

A small suggestion: not everyone stays at level 150, so it would be interesting to add your recommendations on stat distribution beyond level 150, where the soft/hard caps for each stat are, etc By the way, if you know the Weapon Art soft cap for intelligence and faith, I'm interested. :)
I’ve never been a fan of thrusting, straight or greatswords and the moment I tried this out…I fell in love with them, I just wish it did frost damage rather than just magic.
I think I’ve seen a lot of people say, use the Milady with cold infusion in your offhand and then one hand the rennallas sword in the right! I’ll be giving it a try later today!

I am INT cast only and currently running through the DLC with good old Night Comet / Night Shard and 2x Staff of Loss without any problems. I am very curious to see how these strongest sorceries compare with the new sorceries, especially the Finger ones. Take your time for your quality content.
The moveset from the basics, heavies, and WA, are all super fun and pretty. I am however a little disappointed that it can’t guard at all, because I feel like it would’ve been a perfect fit for the Sekiro tear.
something important to keep in mind is that since the faith/int build scales 2 damage tipes while the str/dex both scale the physical damage, the final damage difference per weapon hit from each build will be higher than the 9% difference shown in the video. i dont think it will make enougth difference that it invalidade the points made in the video, but is still something to keep in mind
a little note, im unaware if someone has already mentioned this but, flame grant me strength wouldn't be a bad choice since it supposedly buffs fire damage and this sword (if im correct) has a passive fire damage on base attacks and i'd suppose that the art of war (the one that scales on faith) would use that buff too. there also is a new helm in the dlc, called the horned warrior helm, which gives +5 strength, it would be pretty useful for those who want to do the faith/int build.
I think the interesting thing about these swords is that you make them work with a bunch of different stat spreads depending on what you going for with respect to spells and talismans. They can even just be a secondary weapon that covers the weaknesses of another.
I know it's not super optimal, but this imo the nest weapon for the twinblade talisman. This is because the first heavy attack chains into the final light attack. It gets 6 hits in extremely quickly and when its done twice in a row, it does more damage than a full light attack chain.
I would love to see your analysis of the Death Knight weapons. People are arguing online about their ashes scaling with dex, even though your videos on ashes would have them scaling with faith.
It worth to wait for Chright's number-based breakdowns. You're a savior dude. Can never know when it comes to FromS. Does that holy eruption scale with faith? Nope, it scales with weapon AR, which means it scales with Dex, many such cases.
Going to build this with 55 INT / 45 FTH and enjoying staff of the great beyond on a 200 build. 55 INT gets you a couple nice PVE sorceries too and ensures that magic infusions don't fall off too hard.
Rather than int-faith build with milicent prosthesis and rotten wing sword you can also go the opposite route, run a quality build with shard of alexander and rellana cameo. You can get around 2k damage from the ash of war and the build is also much more flexible.
I'd love to see a video on optimizing the Perfumes. The WA rolling sparks is absolutely busted, but I am curious what the actual optimal stat distributions are; I heard 20/80 but unsure if that is accurate
Yeah, I'm not sure if people realize how much damage perfumes can do yet. Rolling sparks is nuts because you can multi-hit large targets for insane damage or if people figure out the trick and stop hardlocking they can just toss it at the ground and boom.
Before I got Rellana's twin blade, I had tried out the Milady. I put the "New" frost stomp on it with a frost enhancement, and it worked pretty good. But then I thought, wait, Rellana's is the same weapon class. You can totally replace the fire offhand with Milady, with whatever enhancement you want, and still use the weapon art. This is actually awesome for the DEX,INT and is personally MUCH more preferable to the faith, as I find going in with the standard hits before using the weapon art helps conserve FP, maintain stance pressure, and gets the buff going on every hit of the sword beams. Coarse I don't know the math on which one is better, but as a caster you need dex anyway. mostly loosing out on buff incantations.
2:21 I think it should be about 18% higher AR because only one sword deals magic damage and the other fire. Increasing physical damage benefits both so even though you increase the magic/fire AR it effectively cuts your damage gain in half for the standard moveset. Kind of like the dancers swords in DS3. Maybe the developers thought about this and increased the elemental motion values on these swords but from testing it doesn't seem to be the case.
Cold Milady in the right hand and use Rellana in the left hand. It is super fun. The Milady stance is also ridiculously powerful. The R1 procs frost so fast. The R2 jumps over many attacks. You then use L1 to reset the Frost proc to then apply frost again. I shredded the dancing lion.
I'd argue that the real potential of this weapon lies behind picking one of the two weapon arts to focus on and speccing either STR/FTH or DEX/INT accordingly, which will let you either use powerful incantations and other weapons appropriate with those stats as well. Alternatively you can go whole hog into either INT or FTH to maximize scaling in one of those directions for access to some of the most potent spells available.
The right sword does the magic damage while the left does the fire. I tried putting a magic milady in my left hand, and it was interesting. Might even be viable on int builds
It should be noted that this is technically 2 weapons: a Str/dex/faith weapon that has split physical and fire damage and a Str/dex/int weapon that does split physical magic damage. This is theoretically better from an AR standpoint than SONAF since its damage is split 3 ways

Definitely my favorite weapon from the DLC. I run it on a dex/int build and still get ample damage. Weapon art magic wave is nearly on par with the Moonlight, and the fire attack though weaker since my faith is only high enough to wield this is a good "get off me" button since it staggers.
I combine this with a milady on my main hand so I can switch between the milady stance weapon art for a pure physical attack, and then two handing this to get the magic/fire weapon art.
I really apreciate this video for not spoiling the DLC bosses.

I fucking love this weapon, it's so perfect. Strong but not OP, looks amazing, cool moveset, feels unique, also works well as a sword and shield and it looks cool when the smaller sword is on your back while holding a shield.

I’m not sure if I will do a build with them. But you’re hands down the best at breaking down complex weapons. Int/faith as a combo comes with many perks.
I love the Light Greatsword move-set, but it's so hard to give up my dual twinblades. Maybe next play-through.

I began my current playthrough as a pure INT mage and then pivoted about a third of the way through the game, to an Int/Faith Twinblade build, based on this video. Ultimately, I ended up changing out to powerstanced 2x Sword of Night and Flame instead, as those weapons do a bit less damage overall but are a bit more reliable in terms of poise damage (in my experience) and more importantly, their art of war is absolutely cracked, vast improvement over Rellana's Twinblade. I hope this weapon gets buffed a bit (or that light greatswords get more poise damage overall in PvE) because the moveset was extremely fun.
Great breakdown. Feels like I always learn something useful from your videos that helps me when tinkering with my own builds, even when I'm not directly interested in the weapon you're showcasing. Looking forward to your future videos on the DLC items.
A small suggestion: not everyone stays at level 150, so it would be interesting to add your recommendations on stat distribution beyond level 150, where the soft/hard caps for each stat are, etc

I’ve never been a fan of thrusting, straight or greatswords and the moment I tried this out…I fell in love with them, I just wish it did frost damage rather than just magic.
I think I’ve seen a lot of people say, use the Milady with cold infusion in your offhand and then one hand the rennallas sword in the right! I’ll be giving it a try later today!
@@simmerthis9462 I will also be trying that as well, since I love the power stance move set, I can do without the stance if it means chilling mist and flame strike or wing stance

I am INT cast only and currently running through the DLC with good old Night Comet / Night Shard and 2x Staff of Loss without any problems. I am very curious to see how these strongest sorceries compare with the new sorceries, especially the Finger ones. Take your time for your quality content.
The moveset from the basics, heavies, and WA, are all super fun and pretty. I am however a little disappointed that it can’t guard at all, because I feel like it would’ve been a perfect fit for the Sekiro tear.
something important to keep in mind is that since the faith/int build scales 2 damage tipes while the str/dex both scale the physical damage, the final damage difference per weapon hit from each build will be higher than the 9% difference shown in the video. i dont think it will make enougth difference that it invalidade the points made in the video, but is still something to keep in mind

a little note, im unaware if someone has already mentioned this but, flame grant me strength wouldn't be a bad choice since it supposedly buffs fire damage and this sword (if im correct) has a passive fire damage on base attacks and i'd suppose that the art of war (the one that scales on faith) would use that buff too. there also is a new helm in the dlc, called the horned warrior helm, which gives +5 strength, it would be pretty useful for those who want to do the faith/int build.

Having 15 strength and 30 dexterity but also *80* intelligence *and* faith, optimizing for sword of Night and Flame, this weapon got me hyped.

I think the interesting thing about these swords is that you make them work with a bunch of different stat spreads depending on what you going for with respect to spells and talismans. They can even just be a secondary weapon that covers the weaknesses of another.
I know it's not super optimal, but this imo the nest weapon for the twinblade talisman. This is because the first heavy attack chains into the final light attack. It gets 6 hits in extremely quickly and when its done twice in a row, it does more damage than a full light attack chain.
I would love to see your analysis of the Death Knight weapons. People are arguing online about their ashes scaling with dex, even though your videos on ashes would have them scaling with faith.
It worth to wait for Chright's number-based breakdowns. You're a savior dude. Can never know when it comes to FromS. Does that holy eruption scale with faith? Nope, it scales with weapon AR, which means it scales with Dex, many such cases.
Going to build this with 55 INT / 45 FTH and enjoying staff of the great beyond on a 200 build. 55 INT gets you a couple nice PVE sorceries too and ensures that magic infusions don't fall off too hard.
So far, this is probably resonable and best Rellana build.
Rather than int-faith build with milicent prosthesis and rotten wing sword you can also go the opposite route, run a quality build with shard of alexander and rellana cameo. You can get around 2k damage from the ash of war and the build is also much more flexible.
I'd love to see a video on optimizing the Perfumes. The WA rolling sparks is absolutely busted, but I am curious what the actual optimal stat distributions are; I heard 20/80 but unsure if that is accurate
Yeah, I'm not sure if people realize how much damage perfumes can do yet. Rolling sparks is nuts because you can multi-hit large targets for insane damage or if people figure out the trick and stop hardlocking they can just toss it at the ground and boom.
Before I got Rellana's twin blade, I had tried out the Milady. I put the "New" frost stomp on it with a frost enhancement, and it worked pretty good. But then I thought, wait, Rellana's is the same weapon class. You can totally replace the fire offhand with Milady, with whatever enhancement you want, and still use the weapon art. This is actually awesome for the DEX,INT and is personally MUCH more preferable to the faith, as I find going in with the standard hits before using the weapon art helps conserve FP, maintain stance pressure, and gets the buff going on every hit of the sword beams. Coarse I don't know the math on which one is better, but as a caster you need dex anyway. mostly loosing out on buff incantations.

2:21 I think it should be about 18% higher AR because only one sword deals magic damage and the other fire. Increasing physical damage benefits both so even though you increase the magic/fire AR it effectively cuts your damage gain in half for the standard moveset. Kind of like the dancers swords in DS3. Maybe the developers thought about this and increased the elemental motion values on these swords but from testing it doesn't seem to be the case.
I've been pairing mlgs and blasphemous blade dual wield for a while now, this just seems perfect...

Cold Milady in the right hand and use Rellana in the left hand. It is super fun. The Milady stance is also ridiculously powerful. The R1 procs frost so fast. The R2 jumps over many attacks. You then use L1 to reset the Frost proc to then apply frost again.

What are your stats distribution? if you don't mind me asking.
I'd argue that the real potential of this weapon lies behind picking one of the two weapon arts to focus on and speccing either STR/FTH or DEX/INT accordingly, which will let you either use powerful incantations and other weapons appropriate with those stats as well. Alternatively you can go whole hog into either INT or FTH to maximize scaling in one of those directions for access to some of the most potent spells available.

The right sword does the magic damage while the left does the fire. I tried putting a magic milady in my left hand, and it was interesting. Might even be viable on int builds

No joke, I saw the dmg split on this and thought " um let me wait and see what Chrightt has to say about this".
It should be noted that this is technically 2 weapons: a Str/dex/faith weapon that has split physical and fire damage and a Str/dex/int weapon that does split physical magic damage. This is theoretically better from an AR standpoint than SONAF since its damage is split 3 ways
