Yooo i never thought of that what the hell, that's actually cool might try it out soon. I remember MajoraDeMayhem doing a similar tutorial for Redout 1 (fzero controls)

Glad it's proving helpful :D I still love these controls myself too

It will take some time getting used to; I'm occasionally strafing right by accident due to muscle memory, but after 2 hours of practice with your control setup I'm already much better at cornering. Thanks Valyssa :-)

Seeing this, I think this game might fill a huge chunk of that F-Zero shaped hole. The remapped controls are a huge (and in my opinion must be a thing in every game).
I'd imagine for PS users, they may be able to map it very much just like this and so on for Switch users. The most important thing I'm getting here from watching is the good sense of speed. In spite of how accurate Super Pilot is, Redout 2 certainly looks like you lose speed a whole lot less.

It might be the closest substitute yet for sure. The sense of speed is fantastic, which is something that definitely felt lacking in Super Pilot. And yeah full remapping really let me bring it that extra step closer. Big improvement from the 3 preset schemes Redout 1 offered

I've got to try this, I could NOT get into this game due to the control layout.

This is how I play too. Only diff is the roll for air ctrl. It socks with Fzero ctrls. If like me you need to keep your steering and strafing at their respective places, consider investing in a pro controller with paddles at the back. Now my rolling is on the paddles. It's near perfect. ALthough after a year playing like this, Idk... I struggle with getting better at RO2 and I wonder if it is because my strafing is not on analogs..
You see very good players that put controller inputs in their video, they very frequently use half straffes and it look very fluid when straffe and pitch are both on the same analog.. RN I am researching If my hypothesis is right. So if you have any clues on this, or if you tried for a long period of time both configurations, hit me up! thx

Maybe you could switch Y and Left Stick? In most games I find Y harder to use in combination with ABX than LS, but that might just be me. I don't know how much you would want to look back while racing, in most racing games it's a feature I barely use anyway.

I've never been great at games where you press left stick to sprint. I'd probably have the same issue where I'd input unintended directions when trying to press it to start a hyperboost, but I could totally see it being convenient for some people!
