The Empress leaves Davenport May 10, 2024

Many videos of CP 2816, the Empress, on it’s Final Spike Tour have been posted. Here is mine, captured as she left the park along the Mississippi River in Davenport Iowa the afternoon of May 10, 2024. As you can see, there were several thousand people in attendance. I got lucky and found a spot with an unobstructed view and great lighting. Thanks for watching!

The tracks were originally owned by the Davenport, Rock Island and Northwestern Railroad, which in turn was owned by the Milwaukee Road and the CB&Q. When the Milwaukee Road went bankrupt, the tracks were sold to the Soo Line, then the I&M Railroad, then the Iowa Chicago and Eastern Railroad, then the Canadian Pacific, and now the CPKC.
