  • Time to empty out the fridge! We're trying to finish our food reserves as we prepare to move out of our current place. We have just a few fillets of frozen fish, mushrooms, and fresh clams from foraging.
    This week we're cooking up some soft tofu soup (Soondubu Jjigae), Arancini, and Poke using ingredients we have at home. Can't fill up with any new stuff since we're heading out soon! Can't wait to share more with you all. See you in 2023!

      My rice has been soaking for 20 minutes and my salmon has been salt/sugar curing for 30 minutes. I have a soft skin cucumber also.
      This is going to be my 3rd attempt making sushi, I'm going to try making some rolls for the first time. I usually just make a poke bowl because it's easier then shaping things.
      Time to put on my Outdoor Chef Life apron and try making sushi

    I love all the dishes the two of you create. But I want to challenge you to make more Hawaii style poke. Head down to San Jose's Japantown and check out Aloha Fresh. They make the real stuff, not like the raw fish salad places in the SF Bay Area. I hope you noticed I didn't call it poke bowl places, because they are not making poke in my opinion.
    Big mahalo for all your great videos on both channels!

    • @dennistani1986

      One of our first videos on this channel is us in Hawaii having poke. :)

    • @JodyY808
      @JodyY808 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. I liked everything you two prepared in the video and was looking forward to the sushi chefʻs poke, but beining from Hawaiʻi, when I saw you add the cucumber and red onions to the salmon and pour the mixture on top of the sushi rice, I was disappointed -- it was just a "trendy" raw fish salad on rice, known as a poke bowl in California and other states, many of which donʻt have fresh fish from the Pacific. I grew up eating lots of poke, often fish/octopus caught by relatives or friends and served at a party or get-together, or from markets known for their poke like Tamashiro Market or Foodland, and I still canʻt get excited about the raw fish/seafood salad on rice (kind of poke salad sushi) that is so popular outside of Hawaiʻi.

      I'm pretty sure they are the same size! Jocelyn's is bigger at the top to skinny at the bottom but Taku's is the same size from top to bottom and they both are the same height when Jocelyn cooked! IDK just optical illusions maybe! Taku's cooking he does definitely have the bigger bowl though! 😆😆🤣🤣😂😂

    Great idea to get inside and rotate the items in the freezer. Some things seem to just sit in there over time.
    Moving...oh what a pain in the tail. Not such a big deal at your age but it worsens the older we get. Rent is out of sight these days too ! Totally unjustified.
