My mouth will water for months. Looks like everyone had ear to ear grins at dinnertime,Taku you are the man when it comes to entertaining your guests. if i cannot be there this is the next best thing. The fishing looked wild. Only recently discovered your channel. I'm retired and decided it was time to learn how to fish the ocean that's right in my backyard. Now here I see the opening shot of the Channel Islands!!! There's so little good content on TH-cam that covers fishing in my area. This was a treat! Oh, to be younger and able to be on a trip like this. Great stuff Taku. Hope I can Join you all in the future. That charter seems amazing. I usually go with the Specter in Ventura Harbor. But, they don't have the same capacity. Although, they are the best in the area for affordable charter events. They have the best food you can ask for without a personal chef..... along with a hot tub to rejuvenate. Definitely look into them in the future. Just make sure you book a trip that fits your needs. A lot of the trips are on a protected side of the islands. They also have plenty of trips for us that like to harvest food. Smaller than this trip you made. I hope I can go if you do it again. But, the Specter is worth it to anyone who wants affordable dive and fishing trips.

Props to all of the people that can fish on a boat. I went deep sea fishing twice and paid about $600 each time, but I got sick moments after we left shore and was in the bunk for 36 hours each time, only coming out to vomit over the edge. On one trip I managed to get two casts out before I went back to the bunk LOL. It's a crazy feeling to be in the bunk while you hear tuna flapping on the deck and people yelling in joy, but you are hardly able to move due to motion sickness.
Taku , do you know about pen shells ? They are described as a large delicate texture and flavor. I believe the Japanese word is tairagai. I’m in FL and I’ve been reading about St. Joe’s Bay, reportedly full of uni, pen shell and scallops. Thinking of going. You are a real inspiration.

Ocean whitefish and California Scorpion fish (the chungus ones) are perhaps the best white fish you can eat from the California coast imo. Both are considered nuisance charterboat Fish bc they're abitchto prepare. Scorpionfish (sculpin) for obvious reasons, and the whitefish bc they're HELLA bony. Once you get over that, the meat will rock your world and they're plentiful.
Wish I could go on a trip with you, would bring some swedish craftbeer and the appetite of a viking 😂 But I bought a house for my travel savings instead... if you make it to Swedens west coast hit me up and we'll go foraging, fishing and brewerycrawling...
oh i wont tell all mess ups but 200+ yards back is wayyyy to far back you go back at diff lengths… say you have 3 rods trolling you put one back 45 yards… 2nd back at 65 yards and last at 90ish yards… if a 4th then 120 is max…..who taught you to troll???
