    When I used to work in reman ammo, we used SMP-735 or WC844- canister versions of H335... in all of our testing with different AR’s, 25.5 grains with a 55 grain Armscore seated to 2.230” was the magic load. Shot consistent MOA groups out of multiple guns.
    Take it for what it’s worth.

    I love this series. I had always been taught that the shorter the jump to the lands, the more accurate your rounds would be. I have always "cheated" to the long side with my reloads. You have disproved my "common wisdom". Back to the drawing board.

    Johnny... I think your .223 shootout video series is an excellent learning experience for those looking for a starting point. However, the shooter (viewer) has to bare in mind that all individual rifle set up configuration will ultimately decide what works best in each weapon. As we all know that these test will inevitably perform differently in each configuration. Two thumbs up. Shoot lots and stay safe.

    Great content. Eliminating one variable at a time. I use your "craptastic" meter to gauge my reloading habits. I know my results may vary but, you provide excellent starting points. Thanks again for saving me time and money.

    Johnny, I believe it is just what you said at the close of this video. "Your Rifle set up" and I do not believe getting another rifle with the same barrel would be cost-effective. I believe that the viewer should take these tests as "Potentially most accurate loadings" instead of Brass on the table say all win all loadings in all rifles. This is the reason Hand-loading is so important to Match shooters. a barrel can and will change as the erosion and ware in the barrel progress. I like how you are going about this though. as there is no real brand name, Just low-cost bullets being squeezed for what they and do. Keep up the good work dude.

    So I’ve really enjoyed your videos. I find the videos that show a ladder test way more useful than a video like this where you are picking one powder charge and testing multiple bullets. Not sure this video shows anything except your Rifle doesn’t like 25gr of H335 with 55’s at the two seating depths. Personally, I have recently been using the “10 round load development ladder test”. For me it’s been a huge time saver. Good luck and thanks.

    Good work Mr. Bench! Except for I just bought a pound of H335. Sierra recommends 25.2 grains as their “accuracy” load with their 65 grain Game Kings. These are NOT inexpensive bullets, but we’ll see what I get out of them. I loaded a ladder test-.5 grain increments starting at 24.2 up to 25.6. Your set up looks good and the ammo pictures you've shown look perfect. I've been running Bob's and Tac with some success but mainly at 3 Gun distances. • @cthomes57
      @cthomes57 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      May be but at the beginning of the video he shows us that he haved switch the batch off brass, they are once fired so i don't think that's the issue there. In my mind the problem should be a crimp issue or a primer/powder combo problem.

    Good vid JRB. That first Hornady group looks like it would have been a 1/2” with out the one shot that was a Flyer. That group looked like it was trying to group vs the others.
    So many people run 25.0 grains of H335 with Hornady 55FMJ, it seems to be a good plinking load. But yes better options out there for accuracy.
    Ever shot the Hornady 55grain SP? Many people report better accuracy with those and they are around the same price as Hornadys FMJ’s.

    See if there is a correlation with bullet roundness. Use a real micrometer, not a caliper. My Sierra bullets all mike less than .0001 out of round, but most other brands are up to .0005 out of round. I was having fliers with one brand of bullet until I pushed them through a Lee sizer. Made three passes until I could not mike any out of round, and the fliers went away.

    • @number40Fan
      @number40Fan 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah, cheap bullets give cheap results. Might I get better groups by sorting them to roundness? Maybe, but what is the reason? I'm not trying to get my Hornady's to shoot 500 yards in the X ring. I just want a cheap bullet that will make a hole in something when laying the bump fire stock to it. :D

    I got a ? For u man I just started reloading 45 acp with titegroup and when I shoot my reloads it feels like I'm getting sand thrown in my face with every pull of the trigger should I switch powder?? If so anY 1 got any idea of a good powder to get ? Thanks

    • @spyderxtra777
      @spyderxtra777 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      craftsman89 d unburnt powder is usually caused by too light of a load, or not enough crimp (or too slow of a powder but that’s not your issue here), also, I can’t recommend the Lee factory crimp die enough if you don’t already have one, I use them for ALL of my semi auto firearm reloads

      spyderxtra777 I do have the factory crimp die in using berrys bullets they recommend lite crimp maybe I went to lite? On the crimp thanks

    • @spyderxtra777
      @spyderxtra777 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try increasing your crimp slightly and see if it helps. If you have a bullet puller try pulling one afterwards to check for damage in the plating. A magnifying glass is helpful. A little seam or line created by the crimp is fine just as long as you aren't breaking through.

      That's what I was wondering. Just guessing the data would be a rather reckless thing to do. Folks get away with that sort of behavior until their expensive rifle blows to bits. I'd guess he consulted the bullet mfr. for proper data. Eyesight is worth the phone call.

    • @joe-lf2dv
      @joe-lf2dv 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@uraniumpenetrator3844 Yes Johnny did all of that in previous videos. These are the ones that shot best from the manual after a ladder test. Now some experimenting with longer lengths. Which is safe unless jambing into the lands. Then you may run pressure up.
      Keep in mind I a just a keyboard warrior but Dec./Jan. Shooting Times magazine demonstrated this extremely well with 9mm pistol rounds. In their demo just a couple of tenths over max sent pressures way up, but lengthing made it safe with max loading thus lowering pressure but reducing velocity. They were demonstrating velocity vs. pressure in 9mm.
      Keep in mind you can't just decide to run under a published load either. That can lead to to much air space in the case which can cause the powder to all ignite at once which would be an explosion OVERPRESSURE! and not a controlled burn.
      Sorry don't mean to preach but there are probably new people to this experience every day who need to hear this.

    Watched several of your videos. Ithink all that crap hanging on the end of the barrel isn't helping accuracy. The real world won't find a magneto hanging. The can also will not help. Real world experience personal test have shown the can usually hurts. Keep working on it !
