Where I live my whole town got a compete overhaul of the sanitary sewer system. We have a hospital. When they did the new line from there, they installed what looks like a vault style sewer. I asked what that was, they said it has a basket in it to catch anything that doesn't belong in the sewers so the line isn't getting clogged
That’s awesome, I have never heard of that before but it seems like a great idea.. if people are cleaning out the basket routinely I’m sure that stops all kinds of issues from happening down the line 👍
Thank you to those who do this job! Seriously! I work in vet care and can handle the sight of pretty much ANYTHING. It's the SMELLS that get to me. My hospital got rid of the “flushable” wipes for this very reason. It sucks because they were super handy for cleaning up messes but people kept flushing them instead of putting them in the trash so we lost the luxury 😭
When I was younger I remember many hospitals and public buildings had small wall mounted electric incinerators in bathrooms for nappies, feminine hygiene products etc. Reduced anything non flushable to a few specks of ash. Perhaps it's time they made a comeback?
That would be awesome, I understand why some people flush them because there gross and covered in stuff. There’s an embarrassment factor. Seems like a logical solution 👍
Spencer Wilton Good point. DrainPro is probably right about the embarrassment issue and you also have maybe limited movement after surgeries and so on. But watching this unclogging, it struck me that the hospital has a responsibility for health and safety. So the incinerator (with high enough temperature to destroy whatever is thrown at it) idea is not a bad idea. On the contrary - they could even construct it so that it contributes to the general heating, heating of water or similar.

Maybe the laws are different in Australia, or maybe it's because Ratty is such a strict supervisor, but I don't think Ollie would have let all that trash go down to the City. I've watched DA enough to know that he would have scooped out as much of that trash floating in the first manhole as possible before he jetted. He probably would have had a strainer basket at the exit of the 8" pipe in manhole 2 so he could catch the trash already in the pipe and toss it in the bin where it belongs. Finally, I'm betting he would have jetted the line heading to the city sewer as well just to make sure it was all good.

They have to have them for the patients and staff but they are not supposed to be flushing them down the toilet, usually they have the metal bins next to the toilet to dispose of that stuff. It’s a constant fight between the maintenance department and the rest of the hospital staff 😂
The jetting machine that's being used is completely inadequate for the type of work it's being used for, that's why it tuck 2hours to clear this choke, a truck mounted jetvac is what's needed for this task, would have cleared problem in ten minutes, what they are using is fine for a domestic choke, not for this type of work, I've been at this work for thirty years, working for Dublin City Council.
Might I suggest that if you could build a pole with legs at a 45 degree angle to each other and perpendicular to the pole, with a light or two mounted to the pole so that it can be lowered down the side of the hole, that you would have a convenient source of light that would be out of the way of the hoses and that they could not knock down into the sewer.
I hope the city or sewer district went after the hospital for flushing all those wipes and stuff. I am in the sewer biz and it's getting worse with all the trash that ends up in the sewer.

Its most likely visitors and patient who does that i believe.
@@Horna87 Good point!
They have to have them for the patients and staff but they are not supposed to be flushing them down the toilet, usually they have the metal bins next to the toilet to dispose of that stuff. It’s a constant fight between the maintenance department and the rest of the hospital staff 😂
@@Horna87... Female dominated workforce in that building.
@Keith Buckenmeyer My thought also - I am sure there were crap in that clog that should have been disposed of in a far more responsible manner.
I cringed so hard when you grabbed a handful of that crap and picked up your flashlight with the same hand lol @1:03
Wow. This was good one. Crazy to see how explosive the water came rushing out once the clog got loosened up.
Don’t have to question if that one is fully opening and flowing or not 😂 love when the drains come rushing out like that!
And the WIPES always the WIPES.
This man needs a raise!
TH-cam algorithm got me again
Anyone else?
Hey man be safe, always turn that beacon on the trailer on when working in the street, install one on the truck too!
The wire got nicked a few months ago and it stopped working.. going in for new wiring next week 👍
Another awesome video, always amazes me when hospitals put down there drains, good work
Never have I ever seen that many wipes! Couldn’t believe how long it took for the jetter to burrow through it 👍
The jetting machine that's being used is completely inadequate for the type of work it's being used for, that's why it tuck 2hours to clear this choke, a truck mounted jetvac is what's needed for this task, would have cleared problem in ten minutes, what they are using is fine for a domestic choke, not for this type of work, I've been at this work for thirty years, working for Dublin City Council.
To all the plumbers who put there lifes on the line I solute you.....
All hail ratty, the true King of the sewers
I hope the city or sewer district went after the hospital for flushing all those wipes and stuff. I am in the sewer biz and it's getting worse with all the trash that ends up in the sewer.
I have some cookies with me while I watch. Do I stop eating when the poop gets real? Nope XD
That is a grade best worker’s there are only a hand full hope some learn from these guys how to be a professional
Ok so the 607 area code on the side of your van caught my attention. I have family in upstate NY. My mom used to work at the Hospital in Binghamton, my dad worked for Salameida's. They both grew up in the Greene area and my cousins own Seebers Tavern. I live in NC.
I think plumbers are the biggest heroes we don't think about. This shit is like a nightmare to me glad you guys got guts.
👍 appreciate the kind words xq39.. it’s not often glorious but feel like we get to help a lot of people!
Oh, corn. I almost died laughing.
Imagine knocking that light in and having to go down to get it
What did the hospital administration say? I mean cmon that's BAD.
Salute!!!!!! Great job with great enthusiasm!
Thanks Faria.. Appreciate the support 👍
