    My understanding is that an inmate in Ontario costs taxpayers around $150,000 per year. Someone on disability in Ontario gets $15,000 a year. So in Ontario a disabled person is worth 1/10th of 1 inmate. Just think about that for a moment.

    • @DivaliciousOne
      @DivaliciousOne 2 ปีที่แล้ว +50

      Let's be very clear. The spin doctor's let you believe it costs that much to house an inmate. It doesn't. That costing average is actually fancy government accounting whereby the guards are some of the country's highest paid employees. Further, I challenge you to sit in a court room. The judge may hear 2 cases in a day, the rest of the time postpone cases repeatedly. It's ludicrous and churning money for the judiciary. The waste of money on bureaucracy is rampant. Inmates are absolutely gouged and leave prison worse off and with nothing to show for the time and money wasted.
      All this to say that Canada has a big problem of funneling money to cronies and fat cats while its most vulnerable people starve. Remember the Brian Mulroney scandal when he stated that he needed the illicit funds because he had a lifestyle to maintain? Yeah, that's where the money goes.
      Most people in prison aren't even truly criminals, I would say 85% are actually just traumatized poor people and minorities. They fell on bad times and made poor choices due to the very lack of supports we are discussing!
      We can't let political talking points distract us! The powers that be take care of corporate interest and the upper middle class and higher that feed those systems. The rest of us are drowning and it's about time we get a life raft!

      @@darrencraig9263 I wish it were true, but the people in prison are highly neglected. You are not connecting the money dots as I've laid them out for you. The money spent is spent on the prison system itself, not the inmates. They work up to 3 jobs for a max per diem of $5 per day, regardless. They MAY get life-saving treatments, yes, if the doctor is compassionate. However the daily care is NOT of your choosing, the jaded nursing staff is inept and most of your care is left to the other inmates who are not prepared or trained in anyway. The prescriptions filled are only the ones that can be served by a nurse (for their profit) and you may be signed up to be used as a lab rat to trial new drugs. If you need stronger meds or you die from the cocktail they conjured up, oh well. MANY people die in prison because simple things are neglected, you are usually ignored if you cry out for help. If you're lucky a real nurse who committed a crime is in your bunk. I'm dead serious. 😑 The dentist in provincial prison in Québec is actually a veterinarian. 😳
      Let that sink in...

      @Blaze6108 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Well, yeah, jailing people is expensive. You're better off giving someone 50000 a year so they don't fall into criminality than waiting for them to commit a crime and then having to keep them in jail for 150000 a year. Unfortunately most politicians don't understand numbers and just want to look "tough on crime".

      God loves and wants to have a relationship with you. God gives hope and will give you the strength to move forward. God send his only son so that any one who believes in him will have eternal life in Heaven with God. John 3:16-21 ESV - "“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.”"

      I have been on disability in BC for 13 years until recently retiring. I didn't have the help of family but figured out how to survive. They purchase me a new power wheelchair when I needed it. They purchased my teeth and hearing aids, and all medical aids/supplies. However, many people and doctors are using the "disability" designation to get a larger welfare cheque. This also puts people with serious mobility or medical issues in long lines for wheelchair accessible housing and especially handicap parking.

Medically assisted death is the current option for the poverty stricken citizens to alleviate the burden of supporting them by the government through taxation. Doctors were eliminated in Canada through governmental restrictions, this will open the doors for creating a General Euthanasia Act being passed by Parliament. As the citizens are unable to access medical care for chronic diseases due to age or ability to pay for medication or treatments, expect to see government making it mandatory to report for medically assisted death by order of the government.

Canada is an amazing country and assisted suicide for those at the end of life who are living in agony deserve a humane option. We wouldn't let an animal suffer and not euthanize it. I live with chronic pain.. what they need to to TREAT CHRONIC PAIN PATIENTS with the damn opioid therapy they DESERVE. 99% of us on a managed opioid therapy are NOT ADDICTS.. and all those addicts on the street are HEROIN USERS.. DRS DID NOT CREATE ADDICTS BY RX PILLS.. ask ANY H ADDICT and most will tell 1 of ways they STARTED:
      Either 1:
      They were disobedient teens.. smoked weed and drank alcohol and went to party alot.. then one day they got into GRANDMA'S medicine cabinet and took her pills.. from then on they kept STEALING PILLS, THEN BOUGHT PILLS, THEN GOT ON H.. AND NOW MANY CHOOSE FENTYNAL!!
      or 2
      Again: teenage disobedience is 1 marker.. already having exposure to ALCOHOL/WEED/PARTYS..
      ^^this type of teen (already disobedient but hidibg it from parents) breaks theur ankle while out with friends, Doctor PRESCRIBES a 7 DAY AMOUNT (yes drs dont actually rx a plethora of pills for ACUTE INJURIES!!)..
      The TEEN takes their meds but does not follow drs inatructionz, teen NOTICES the pills are similar to their DRUNK feeling, pills are more convenient to carry around than a bottle.. then they run out too fast, dr dies NOT write a new rx, teen then steals pills from grandna or goes out and huys pills, pills get hard to find one day but the dealer iffers Heroin.. abd bam.. now they are stuck on heroin..
      But in EACH SCENARIO:.. THOSE ADDICTS TOOK SONETHING THAT FID NOT BELONG TO THEM! AND WHEN THEY FID HAVE A LEGIT RX.. they did nit take it properly.. already had a HISTORY of drug use/abuse.. so the pojnt here is that had they been rx ZANAX instead of opioids.. they would have gotten addicted th o that instead and eventually would lead to H on the streets..
      * its not DRUG TYPE (opioids) itself that causes addiction: its the PERSONALITY TYPE that already has a history of drug use and addictive NATURE to anything that gives them a "head-change"..
      * Drug addiction is not a result of DOCTORS who write rx opioids for LEGITIMATE PAIN PATIENTS..
      Grandma with a broken hip, 20 yr old Jane with MS, 40 yr old John who worked hard labor as a carpenter, fibromyalgia, eds, crps.. its not OUR FAULT that we require our pain to be managed to live a decent quality of life, and its not the drs fault fir his CV compassion.. go after the REAL addicts and TREAT the REAL PATIENTS likeveterans with war injuries!!

At the time I was renting a Bachelor Apartment for $365 per month, I was forced out by the Landlord as I am on a fixed income. That same unit is now Renting at $800. Top that off with butchers like Seville or K2, the bigger the Landlord/Company the more corrupt the Management. I live on ODSP in Ontario and work part time. Can attest to how much the provincial government makes people with disabilities suffer. I have been on it since 1995, back when it was called Family Benefits before the name was changed to ODSP. The program is a total joke, and the provincial government has proven time and time again they believe people with disabilities should be made to suffer and live in poverty.
    I get $1,228 per month to live on, plus $81 per month extra for Special Diet because I have Type 2 Diabetes. Guess what the Shelter portion of the cheque is? $522 a month! Yes, that's right, that's what Doug Ford expects a single person on ODSP to pay for rent - totally unrealistic! You cannot even rent a room in a family home for that! Most people on ODSP are usually having to take money from the Basic Needs portion of their cheque just to cover rent, because the Shelter portion is too low and unrealistic. The worst part is, if you work you get penalized- about 60-70% of the money you earn is taken off your ODSP cheque! So you can't really get ahead much even by working. And, some of the programs ODSP have are screwed up....ODSP Employment Supports is a perfect example. If you apply for and get it, you get funding to a outside career agency who gets funding to help the client find a job....sounds good, BUT the problem is the career agency is paid AFTER the client has been working for 8 weeks! So what happens is you get some lazy worker who brushes up your resume a little bit, and then they sit back and tell the client to go job hunting all over the place, and then the worker receives the government money while the CLIENT did 80% of the work finding their job without the worker using their connections, or giving the client on the job training to accomodate their disability. Why should a worker get paid to do what I can do by myself by going to a unemployment office, update my resume there and find work by myself?! NO WAY!!
    Sorry, but a guaranteed income may sound good, but it's NOT the answer! Especially when it would end the additional supports that programs like ODSP and Ontario Works have. What is REALLY NEEDED is REFORM....not only to the amount of funding that is given to clients each month, but how the programs are run. There is a LOT of waste, mismanagement and inefficiency with both these programs in how the programs are administered and run, and how clients are treated. It's about time we get rid of Fatty Ford and elect a government who actually understands and gets it!

    I could write the proverbial book on this. One taboo area that is not talked about nearly enough are the sheer numbers of injured workers forced into poverty when the various provincial Workers Compensation Boards (WCB) routinely deny claims/benefits. Politicians have known about the countless issues about these WCB's for well over a decade and have done nothing. The most disgusting case I read about was a department store manager beaten and shot on the job during a robbery, The WCB put him through a living hell for over 15 years!
    In my case The WCB denied me more than two thrids of the recomended treatments that their own medical team indicated that I needed to recover from my back injury. That was over a decade ago and my back is messed up to the point where I'm on disability.
    I firmly believe that the reason why the government is expanding the list of those who would qualify for Medically Assisted Dying, is a means of getting rid of more and more of those with disabilities. The more they get rid of, the less they have to deal with.

Alone, w only the thoughts of being happy again. Everytime I go to sleep I see everything I long for. Love, happiness, family, prosperity. But then I wake back up in this war zone. My house is totally destroyed by hurricane Ian and it’s been 6 months w no help from fema, or the government. Or from governor desantis. I don’t even have a $1 to get clean water. It’s been 3 weeks w no clean water. I just want this to end. I’m not looking for sympathy. Maybe a little understanding of what happens when you allow 35 people in the US ( that’s 35 of the richest men in the USA) to own more wealth then 4,000,000,000 ( That’s billion) across the world.
