Mental pain gives as much suffering as physical pain.

Its temping enough without government whispering "do it". Being old and depressed is par for the course, especially in bad weather when more time than is healthy is spent in bed just to stay warm.
Its like people are talking Logans Run. There'll be prizes offered next. Its a dangerous road for any society to go down.

Depression like cancer is horrifically painful both mentally and the psychosomatic pain it causes. People who've never had panic attacks or crippling anxiety should have some m empathy. The brain is like any organ and it can malfunction. Modern treatments don't work.

This is disgusting . How dare they just want rid of someone because they are depressed. He's obviously not getting the right treatment. People should not be allowed this for serious mental health problems .. They need help . It might be differnt if someone in physical pain but someone with mental health issues. This is a slippery slope and an evil one. Most sane people would not agree to this .

Being depressed is the fault of governments. Not something to die for.

there ARE different types of pain NOT just physical...........mental illness IS endemic in society like every other illness/S...physical or not..............when an individual HAS suffered for a long time etc.......and their quality of life is extremely to them, poor............why shouldn,t they have the options out there like other people..........physical or mentalhealth.................

Depression is a loss of hope. I was depressed for years and the only thing that keeps me going is the thought of a better future and I just turned 30.

We shouldn't force people to suffer when we can let them go

People are forced to suffer so that neoliberal ghouls can get their own way and off people who's lives are too expensive and inconvenient

Society is not community. The nuclear and post nuclear family, the large employers with social clubs have broke down. Even the Pubs closing down all affect social conectivity. So many natural hubs have diminished and quality of life with them. As we age we lose friends to deaths. People used to have Beanos. Works outings, coatch trips. Something to look forwards to.
In this post nuclear family and consumerist society there is no incentive but to consume. I admit i live similarly to Robin. Im lucky that at the moment i also live in hope.

When people say they want to die and are feeling suicidal, what they really want is for the pain to go away. They are falsely under the impression that death is the answer to their pain. No government should support assisted dying. They should fund research in to mental health and help those who are not capable of helping themselves.

Doctor here - I fully support assisted dying where a patient has a terminal illness, and a cure is no longer possible.
If an animal is in pain, we put it to sleep to ends it suffering; humans should also have that option.

No surprise that one of the worst countries in the developed world for disability rights has gone so far down this irreversible path. It's not a 'slippery slope', a characterisation made by unserious people: it's the pre-existing material conditions that are the source of contention against legalised euthanasia.

Depression is similar to vanity in that both involve being consumed by one’s self. In the case of depression, the focus is on one's feelings. By shifting attention to the happiness of others, individuals may find themselves feeling less sorrowful and such sad sacks.

So, we’ve decided on performing “medical procedures” before trying basic therapy once again. Good luck to those depressed or “trans” cuz the government’s agenda is coming for ya.
