I also got burnt out around 7 months of playing and when I came back I decided to only use characters that doesn't have max trust. Once they reached max trust then they're off the team. It gave me the motivation to build a wider pool of characters and made me appreciate the uniqueness of each operator.
lol I also do this since I like to maximize my sanity usage. Every event is just me scrambling to build character just enough that they be able to complete the stage. I can’t even use vanguard or medic anymore since they’re all maxed trust. 😂
The niche-knights that I'm currently doing right now is what I call 'Badknights.' Badknights are basically operators that are not meta and considered bad by the most of AK community and the game tier lists. Example of Badknights operators are Vigil, Dusk, Quartz, Frostleaf, Siege, Jessica, Flamebringer, Earthspirit, Conviction, Courier, Chestnut, Grey, Nightmare, Skyfire, Ebenholz, Phantom and Matterhorn.
Not really a nicheknightw But one way I've been Enjoying the game is by testing which Operators are able to solo IS3 For those wondering, Yes Vigil is able to solo IS3
Im really thankful that you clarified how nicheknights is for certain people and not everyone. Amount of people i have seen attacking people for making meta clears or using meta teams saying it will get boring or they wont have fun or be "braindead" is borderline annoying. People need to understand that everyone enjoys different stuff
I play both of my high lvl 100 accounts daily and I started another one - I just really like starting fresh .-. going back to the beginning with all the experience and knowledge youve accumulated is super fun!
i just wanna say that stuff like this works, and it works so well. i was getting super burnt out a while back, but after building up 2 nicheknights for myself, it gave me a lot more to do. it certainly isn't for everyone, but it worked super well for me (felineknights and rhineknights players where you at)
Ive actually started my own 'niche' if it can be called that but it forces me to use many ops from my roster. If it can be called niche but its interlocking competition. Basically if I use (for example) goldenglow for the 3rd stage of an event i cant use her for any other stage. If a tutorial stage uses certain ops i cant use those either. But this allows me to use my entire roster of characters and its cool to start out with maybe a few ops in the early couple stages with a combination of 3 and 4*s then maybe a couple 6*s here and there then still being able to go all out against the boss if needed. I find it fun.
Thats called the tower challenge. People mainly use this in single archtype nicheknights like snipernights but the overall premise is the exact same! Its really fun and i love doing it for past events :D

I think I started burning out right before Ejya2 event, but... As I got Swire2 I just understood that playing 'unusual' characters is actually stimulating. Swire2 gave me much time of fun in IS. I found my 'flame' in raising and playing waifu/unpopular/inconvenient ops (e.g. Mr.Nothing or Flint)
niche what makes me stay at arknights, legit the first video i saw and make stay are tums video "three lane problem" with defenderknights i'm playing Tank at almost on every MMO i played so the fact i able to clear stuff with only tank probably the driving force to keep playing and building my ops but right now ? i'm building several niche that inter-connected with each others to save some resources Like building gummy for bearknights and Defenderknights,Building Wildmane for Kaziknight and Vanguard knights, Building Ho'ol for Rhine and Casterknights, and so on. it gave me more option to approach more stages with different niche since i'm relatively new to the game so i dont have that many ops and didn't restrict myself after my first initial clear
playing niche knights is really fun, you can re-strategize stages that would make you find new or refreshing ways to use said niche operators... I really do recommend you guys to at least try playing a niche squad, no need to build from scratch if just wanna try, just see through your account and choose a niche that's available to you first and try it, does it suit your playstyle? then maybe you became interested in trying other operators, or main said niche operators, but because they're not that meta/good you'll never use them, then making a niche account is one way to go, as to not split the limited resource you currently have on your main account. Do try those niches out, and find your true playstyle :) . . . . . . but NEVER... EVER... get into... Elafia-knights... there'll be nothing but suffering... and definitely a hell on earth you're stepping into... But hey, at least you got me as a friend there! :')
I did 4* only for the first 3 years. Inspired by Dr Silvergun when I met him during Obsidian Festival. I tried 3* only first but couldnt beat anni 3 so I swapped to 4*. After about 3 years when 4* operators were released less frequently I swapped to 6* afk style gameplay. I slowly built up my 6* roster and it has been very different and fun. Finally using Eyja who alluded me for 2 years was very satisfying. If i had pulled her early i probably wouldnt have been low rarity, but playing low rarity definitely made me a better player. I still max out the new 4* operators upon release and might do a map here and there. I dont bother doing a new account. Ill just keep progressing on mine. My current goal is to get every 6* e2 and then ill focus on their modules (still have yet to do a single 6* module) and 5* paradox simulations.
I've had some fun ideas for certain niche nights I kinda wanna try and I figured I'd share them, based on gimics instead of a certain class race etc... for example some operators can't be healed like reaper and mushrooms guards as well as mudrock penance etc... and having a team just built around not being able to be healed another could be block knights using a melee or ground squad that only has a block count of 1 I think would be really interesting using just charger vanguard duelist guards and maybe Texas alter and simular operators for flying enemies

I've been enjoying Kaziknights recently. I love NTR and Belmishine so much it just kinda spiraled out. The biggest weakness for sure is a lack of reliable healing but it's my go to whenever a new event drops!
I'm trying to do Kaziknights/Knightsknights as well! I've only just started, though, so I don't have many of the operators (including Blemishine). Waiting for new banners! (the recent fartooth/ashlock one went terribly for me) Managed to get Flametail, and Wild Mane got added in welfare recently, and I've been having a ton of fun using both of them
@@alice_in_translation1798 the synergy between them is so fun I just wish it wasn't such a squishy squad 😭 Personally I find it way more engaging than Abyssal hunters and I think if they had a medic they would be almost as popular as a niche
If nicheknights doesn't interest you, try some small restrictions, like no flagpipe, no Mylnar/Silveash, even a small restriction will have you considering some of the operators you have gathering dust.
This actually works, i got burnt out before the Mlynar debut and i got so many resources after i got back. I built Invisibleknights which everyone almost have skin (Ines skin where) and i struggled because i don't have healer and Magallan is the only arts dmg resources for me (I've build Scene too but i only used her summon) but overall its pretty fun to play this Niche.
I've been playing Maleknights since I begun playing the game, and I must say, I still never used Sesa unironically lmao He is there for when I wanna deploy him to stand there on the stage and look pretty
Way I play it's not really Niche but more of level of Skill that can be satisfying to pull off. I like to call it Redeploy Relay. Rules are. - After an Operator Finished their skill duration Immediately Retreat Them. - No Infinite Duration Skills. - No Passive Infinite Duration Skills. By Using these sets of Rules, There are operator skills I never Imagined using due to their niche. Ch'en S2 Chiave S2 And Texas S2 Offensively. Mountain S3 And this is more forgiving than P1 Relay because you're not limited by the 1 Deployment Limit.
i would also love to make a male only account but i can't even clear the stages normally so i don't think i am up to that level yet. but if i get better at the game i would really love to do it.
D1 player here, I agree that nicheknights is what keeps me playing this game until now some niches require more brain to play around, esp with operator I am not familiar with, but it is pretty fun currently working on electric team which consists of mostly chain casters
For most niches you have to have galaxy brain because trying to find guides that don't feature meta ops is kinda hard, most niche clears on TH-cam are showcases of very specific levels/situations. So unless one is doing a more mainstream niche (4 stars only with silvergun doing every level ever that can be used as guide or idem for 5 stars with iloveamiya) it's gonna be a hard time at the moments when you dont have time and mental space to learn the levels and redo them multiple times until you get it. It's a great challenge though, if you do have time and braincells for it. (Yes it's a long explanation that my brain is too smooth for stuff like that, but I've started to build silence, mumu and dorothy to try them as Rhineknights because i felt a little too overwhelmed by all the meta needed for DOS event and got inspired to do something else)
Oh yeah Arknights is really good in the fact that even if you are bored you can afk farm with autos a lot and still get some currency to pull even though you legit barely touch the game when taking a break. It helps so fucking much for me since I do electrical engineering in college 💀
Pick a faction. Truly, it's the only way I can have fun on this game. Even units like Wis'adel can be balanced out by the fact that their factions are restrictive. Currently my favorite is BolivarKnights. I can bring them everywhere and it will always be challenging but also doable so long as I know the stage. Also, I'm latino so...
i not using abyssal niece but have all abyssal in one squat just so powerfull old specter can land holding without healer (i almos can do what ever i want because that all ground unit go every where)
Niche-knights (specifically male operators only) was how I was able to get past my burnout and rediscover my love for Arknights! I used to pull on every meta banner that dropped until it reached a point where the stages themselves were becoming very monotonous since I would just throw Texalter/Mlynar/Surtr/Chalter/etc at everything. With male operators niche, I still have a solid amount of meta power with Aak+Mlynar/Exalter for difficult stages, while also getting to enjoy operators that have cool designs (Passenger, Ebenholz, Mizuki, Vigil, Phantom, Bryophyta). It also lets you play around with some really cool operator combinations, like Chiave+Castle/Friston/THRM, Stainless+Thorns/Chongyue/Exalter/Puzzle, and getting to experience playing with operators that are considered "outclass" in their role (Bison/Hung/Broca/Qanipalaat/Minimalist/GreyyAlt to name a few). Once you get a good handle of the game's mechanics, niche-knights really diversifies and enhances the experience of Arknights on so many levels. Thanks for the great video!

i gotta get back into it, i was doing gothknigths, which only has four vanguards (courier, blacknight, puzzle and ines) and getting enough dp with just them on the flagpipe meta was pretty challenging. i'm still waiting for reruns of blemishine's and passenger's skins so they can dress in black.
Felineknights enjoyer just be smiling at you cause there's no one to generate DP except for Siege (if only she is acknowledged as a feline, and not as an aslan) 😂
A nicheknights I do sometimes is using only operators that share the same jp voice actors of my other favourite gacha games characters, that way most teams end up being a mix of meta & less meta operators & its really fun!

I love doing 4 star clears AND 6 star clears. People need to understand that just using meta operators doesnt mean you arent having any fun. I love seeing the amazing effects 6 stars has then using 4 stars as a more deep knowledge limiting factor wich gives me best of both worlds.
When new event drops I usually gather squad on theme of the event. Like, operators directly involved in it. Operators who *might* have been there. Operators of the same "profession", faction, country or any other relation to the theme. For example, for Jessica event there was obviously the BSW girls, then other mercs or Columbian characters to fill out the squad. That allows to have a fresh experience with different combinations of characters and somewhat feels lore immersive.
The closes i get to a niche is only using non broken operators. Aka Surtur, Ch'alter, Yalter etc I still have them built to farm quicker and roll for some of the ones i like like Horn, and Ray in the future But when it come to first time clears i always do it with non broken operators 99,99% of the time
I don't know if this counts as a niche. When I IS, I let someone else preferably someone clueless about arknights and have them chose for me, from the squads, to the nodes, and even operators.
I don't have another account yet for my niche but I do use two for a bit of content. First one is swimsuitknights, only ops with beach skins that I own. So even if they have it but I don't own it I can't use them and i will not buy a skins I don't like so that limits it even more. The other is the standard 4* squad.
I personally dont like limiting myself playing a game, especially a strategy game like this. I'd rather use the 6 stars that I farmed for, to use them clearing stuff. But I'll agree I like Aegir cause Spalter is my favorite op
Now that I think about it there's no Fantasy-setting niche knights (Using only character that have a skin thag looks like a D&D settings like the upcoming Dorothy, Texas Alter, Fiammetta skin)
While not too specific i do try to use lesser used operators in general. Most of them are good. But because each archetype has a meta unit, it just dragged down because why invest the same resources in a unit when you can invest the same for one that just trivializes a lot. I recommend more people give them a chance. Like Sesa
I'm not against meta units. I just feel their existence do diminish lesser used operators in terms of value for resources to the point where people misconstrue it for they're horrible units by design (with exceptions of course)
My beautiful boys. It's so satisfying using bad units that I love to clear stages. Plus it's nice seeing all of them maxed out. DOS and IS4 is the only place I use women at this point. I always prioritize boys (because I just like them), but I've grown to love using my other ops again. I'm thinking of building all of the babel people to lvl 90. Thinking about who to max out is too hard. There's too many ops! Even if there isn't much of a reason, sometimes you just need a small reason to build them!
Personally i was end up with afknight (or whatever it should be called) when i got fed up with arkninght. Having the focus of only pulling for ops that have good afk skill only is also really nice for reducing the gacha addict as well
i havent played the game in a hotminute but i did make this niche that centers around operators dealing a status DoT (think of ethans S1 or BPs talent). been meaning to get back into the game since ritualists are perfect for this

Sleepknights is my go to niche, but as it is practically impossible to clear bosses with them, husbando knights is secondary

I used to pull on every meta banner that dropped until it reached a point where the stages themselves were becoming very monotonous since I would just throw Texalter/Mlynar/Surtr/Chalter/etc at everything.
With male operators niche, I still have a solid amount of meta power with Aak+Mlynar/Exalter for difficult stages, while also getting to enjoy operators that have cool designs (Passenger, Ebenholz, Mizuki, Vigil, Phantom, Bryophyta).
It also lets you play around with some really cool operator combinations, like Chiave+Castle/Friston/THRM, Stainless+Thorns/Chongyue/Exalter/Puzzle, and getting to experience playing with operators that are considered "outclass" in their role (Bison/Hung/Broca/Qanipalaat/Minimalist/GreyyAlt to name a few).
Once you get a good handle of the game's mechanics, niche-knights really diversifies and enhances the experience of Arknights on so many levels. Thanks for the great video!

i gotta get back into it, i was doing gothknigths, which only has four vanguards (courier, blacknight, puzzle and ines) and getting enough dp with just them on the flagpipe meta was pretty challenging. i'm still waiting for reruns of blemishine's and passenger's skins so they can dress in black.
Felineknights enjoyer just be smiling at you cause there's no one to generate DP except for Siege (if only she is acknowledged as a feline, and not as an aslan) 😂
A nicheknights I do sometimes is using only operators that share the same jp voice actors of my other favourite gacha games characters, that way most teams end up being a mix of meta & less meta operators & its really fun!

I love doing 4 star clears AND 6 star clears.
People need to understand that just using meta operators doesnt mean you arent having any fun. I love seeing the amazing effects 6 stars has then using 4 stars as a more deep knowledge limiting factor wich gives me best of both worlds.
When new event drops I usually gather squad on theme of the event.
Like, operators directly involved in it.
Operators who *might* have been there.
Operators of the same "profession", faction, country or any other relation to the theme.
For example, for Jessica event there was obviously the BSW girls, then other mercs or Columbian characters to fill out the squad.
That allows to have a fresh experience with different combinations of characters and somewhat feels lore immersive.
The closes i get to a niche is only using non broken operators.
Aka Surtur, Ch'alter, Yalter etc
I still have them built to farm quicker and roll for some of the ones i like like Horn, and Ray in the future
But when it come to first time clears i always do it with non broken operators 99,99% of the time
I don't know if this counts as a niche. When I IS, I let someone else preferably someone clueless about arknights and have them chose for me, from the squads, to the nodes, and even operators.
I don't have another account yet for my niche but I do use two for a bit of content. First one is swimsuitknights, only ops with beach skins that I own. So even if they have it but I don't own it I can't use them and i will not buy a skins I don't like so that limits it even more. The other is the standard 4* squad.
I personally dont like limiting myself playing a game, especially a strategy game like this. I'd rather use the 6 stars that I farmed for, to use them clearing stuff. But I'll agree I like Aegir cause Spalter is my favorite op

Now that I think about it there's no Fantasy-setting niche knights (Using only character that have a skin thag looks like a D&D settings like the upcoming Dorothy, Texas Alter, Fiammetta skin)
While not too specific i do try to use lesser used operators in general. Most of them are good. But because each archetype has a meta unit, it just dragged down because why invest the same resources in a unit when you can invest the same for one that just trivializes a lot. I recommend more people give them a chance. Like Sesa
I'm not against meta units. I just feel their existence do diminish lesser used operators in terms of value for resources to the point where people misconstrue it for they're horrible units by design (with exceptions of course)
My beautiful boys. It's so satisfying using bad units that I love to clear stages. Plus it's nice seeing all of them maxed out. DOS and IS4 is the only place I use women at this point. I always prioritize boys (because I just like them), but I've grown to love using my other ops again. I'm thinking of building all of the babel people to lvl 90. Thinking about who to max out is too hard. There's too many ops! Even if there isn't much of a reason, sometimes you just need a small reason to build them!
Personally i was end up with afknight (or whatever it should be called) when i got fed up with arkninght. Having the focus of only pulling for ops that have good afk skill only is also really nice for reducing the gacha addict as well
reminder to people who want to do niche,
your favorite operators can also be nicheknights. Dont force yourself to something u wont enjoy.
i havent played the game in a hotminute but i did make this niche that centers around operators dealing a status DoT (think of ethans S1 or BPs talent). been meaning to get back into the game since ritualists are perfect for this

It's okay to take a break. Although it's still recommended to log in during limited events, although it's fine if you don't get the limited operator.
