    I was trying to find this video and somehow came up in the search results! I was obsessed with watching this in the late 2000s in anticipation of the expansion to DCA. Crazy to see over 10 years later how everything turned out.

      I love it too! I really miss how the park was from 2012 to 2016. It was cohesive and it was very well done. Disney did a great job previewing this park and getting the crowds hyped

    The only thing i will miss the most when all this is completed is the memories I've had at Disney's California Adventure, I do really look forward to all these changes :]

    So crazy going back and watching this now that it's all done. I remember going in Sept or Oct 2011, and it was construction wall city!

    I just visited. It's a different park from Disneyland, and I can't really see anyone spending more than one day in the Adventure, it offers something really different. Apart from the INSANE wait for Radiator Springs Racers (seriously, fastpasses were gooone!) it was actually a beautiful park with that touch of Disney magic. Plus, unlike Disneyland in the summer, I could actually walk from place to place with ease, though if word gets around, it won't always be that way. ;)

    As you are at Disneyland frequently, you should check out the Blue Sky exhibit, where you'll find models and concept art for most every change discussed in this video.

    Wow, thanks TJ for putting that all in perspective. I was there in feb. for two hours. That's all you really need after you've done the part five or more times. The new additions will hopefully be more exciting. TJ Hope we dont have to wait so long between DL updates! We look forward to them.

    THANK GOD! i didnt get the disney feel almost at all but, this is gonna get me to come back to DL resort to see all the newness. Im so glad the imagineers are doing this...Walt always wants these parks to grow and change but,never lose the disney charm.
    Im looking forward to all this. ;D

  • @kirbymaster5

    I was there when they drained the lagoon, it was quite the sight.
    The toy story ride was pretty good. The 3D works and you get a good variety of games to play. All the games involve shooting some sort of projectile from the cannon in front of your seat. You get some good tactile feedback whenever you shoot, which will be often. The ride not only tracks your score but your accuracy as well.
    You know, the ride isn't even that new anymore, I don't know why I'm going in to such detail...

  • @DaemonPhive

    This looks like it's going to be so much fun. I can't wait. He I'll be like 27 in 2012 when most of it is done, but I will always love Disneyland/California Adventure.

  • @ocsvcsvcsvo

    goodness gracious! i went last sunday and the wait for the toy story ride was maybe 45 minutes at the most!

  • @disneylandtourdotcom
    @disneylandtourdotcom  17 ปีที่แล้ว

    The park will remain open with rotating closures of individual sections. Teams will develop one area at a time. So, in essence, Sunshine Plaza will close for a year or so as it is transformed into Walt Disney Plaza, etc., but the rest of the park will remain open.
    As for Screamin', the queue area will be rethemed, but the ride itself will remain the same.

  • @31iidna
    @31iidna 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    i was there yesterday and you can totally see that they are really putting a lot of effort to this, the lagoon is already drained and parts of the disney's world of color are already in place
    the giant orange is gone, but the maliboomer is not so i dont think theyre taking it down..
    the little mermaid stuff is still due to open on 2011 and they are already installing the red street cars
    and i got to ride the toy story mania and it was awesome
    it's gonna be huge :D

    My dads friend is an imagaineer at Disneyland and when he came to visit, he told us all about Carland!! It's going to be so cool and fun, because cars is awesome!

  • @disneylandtourdotcom
    @disneylandtourdotcom  17 ปีที่แล้ว

    I hope they do, as well. From what I recall, test-and-adjust continued for about 18 months on TT back in the 1990s.

  • @disneylandtourdotcom
    @disneylandtourdotcom  17 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sections of the park will be closed in stages as work on the expansion and placemaking continues. The largest problem will occur in about two years, when the main entrance and Sunshine Plaza are closed, though the park will remain open. A temporary entrance will be utilized. But the park will remain 70-80% open during expansion.

    I am glad to see they are making over California Adventure. I've never been very fond of it and have only been there twice (out of 17 visits in the last year as annual passholders to Disneyland).
    The rides lack imagination and the separate areas in the park were built with no regard to a cohesive flow of one area into another.

  • @the.jenn.abides
    @the.jenn.abides 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's very interesting to see the mixed comments on this. I had the feeling that a lot of people were not fans of CA Adventure and was surprised to find out that that is not the case!
    Personally, I am looking forward to the revamp for this park. I really hope it gets a more immersive feel like the original Disneyland Park.

    dude, i nearly cried. I and so many have been saying "they should put a 'W.E.T.' fountain here like the bellagio", they did it for Illuminaria, why not have a year round attraction, heck i remember sitting on the ground for hours waiting for the magic waters at the DL Hotel, remember that? super corny and simple, but oh so enchanting. I saw one of the last performances.

    first, walt didn't just approve that ride but helped with the development of it, Creative talent and supervision, which is the most vital part of creating a new attraction. there's a reason why imagineers had so much trouble with the haunted mansion when he passed away. they couldn't agree with anything. second I dont know if there was anything before but its relief that they put something worth that space unlike winnie the pooh ride which also answer your third response

    As well as they have to add to carland, Paradise Pier and HPB
    Ratior springs Car wash will be like Soak-N-sail at Pirate shores in Legoland. Lighting Macqueen's Roamin cars will be like Autopia. Wall-E the Ride will be a simulator ride simalair to star tours and it will replace the Hyperion Theather. Up Balloon Bounce will be a rethemed version of Jumpin' Jelllyfish. Ratouille Rat Chase will be a rethemed version of Mallound Madness But with Rat traps, Kinves and other traps ETC.

    are they taking away soarin, or grizzly river run? or brother bear challengee trail? i love everything abot it, and who cares if it didnt make money? it is absolutely magical. im gonna take many pictures of the park. =(

    I live In Orlando and was very excited to visit other Disney Parks. I was blown away by Disneyland But DCA was not impressive. I can't wait to go back in 2012. Only bad thing is i'll have to make two scrapbooks. One for the old version and one for the new version.

  • @quickattack
    @quickattack 17 ปีที่แล้ว

    thanks for the update! do you have any idea as to how long all this would take?
    and for BrickstarRunner, it seems like Cars Land is going to be a whole new area for Cali. Ad. and not a new park of it's own.
    can't wait to see the new lake set up, looks like it should be amazing.

    I would love a Philharmagic in CA, though I heard that the current muppet theatre wasn't big enough to accommodate the extra wide screen . . . I hope they find a way to work around it. I'm stoked for the Cars ride.

  • @Bladerunner55217

    I think the best idea of a ride should be when it's hidden by lush vegetation or any earthly structures especially with water . Example: To hear the ride but not beable to see it is very very exciting. This is an example of an early memory of my imagination when I was little and also from some certain rides at Disneyland and other parks.

  • @33Keith33
    @33Keith33 16 ปีที่แล้ว

    The new entrance looks just like the entry at Disneys' Hollywood Studios (formerly, Disney/MGM Studios) in Orlando. The overhaul makes me think of the "re-invention" of Epcot. When Epcot first opened, many were dissapointed that Disney characters weren't there. Word spread the Epcot was "Disney for adults" and people were rightly put off. Now, Epcot appeals to more people than ever and the "new" DCA looks very promising as well.

    does anyone know if they will have california adventure open when they do this. and does anyone know if they are planning on changing anything to the trains on california screamin to fit the new theme in paradise pier.
    gosh i was so relieved when they said that muholland maddness was just being remodled and not torn out. im also glad that they are going to have a test track type ride. on the down side it makes me sad that the entrence to toystory mania covers the loop on california screamin.

    This is my first You Tube post. I must say that I worked in the park while DCA was being built (employees parked where DCA now stands for years) and I was a bit disappointed when it opened. However, I've been back and I've found my personal "jewels" of the park that keep me coming back and opening my eyes to the park as a whole. Dinsey has always appealed to kids and Disney knows without working class families supporting DCA, the park is doomed. I'm sure DL proceeds help DCA stay afloat.

    I;m ecstatic that they're renovating CA. It never expressed the Disney magic like DLand does. That's what brings the tourists; the unique spark of magic you find within yourself when you enter the gates.

    Wow great video! Those changes sound great. It's very true that the entrance now is very boring and generically themed. It doesn't have a "main street" type of entrance like every other disney them park. Hope it all comes out for the better. I love CA Adventure but it seems like they put it together without any deep thought in it's creation.

  • @mupty

    I like all the new stuff that DCA is getting. The only downside though is that Paradise Pier in its new Victorian form will have much less to do with the park's overall theme of California than its predecessor. Either way though, I have no doubt that DCA will see an improvement in attendance over the next few years, especially with the opening of Carsland. I plan to make a visit to DLR again in late 2012 or early 2013 so I can see all the new stuff all at once.
