Great stories !! I am a nurse also and let me tell ya , yes strange, creepy and so many unexplainable things happen to us. I have had many bizarre things happen. I have seen a patient in a place that was built in the late 1800's. I was on a 3 to 11 shift waiting for the next shift to come in. The place was so old that the hallway we were standing in was STILL called the infirmary lol. I was the only staff member facing the "short hall" my computer workers watched as my eyes darted behind them as I informed them one of their patients was up and dressed walking across the hall. They were so scared, their eyes were like saucers lol bcz they did final rounds not 3 mins b4 and all were tucked in bed with Jammies on. I insisted NO the lady shuffled along in powder blue pants with a white top that had powder blue, baby pink and pastel yellow "splashes" on it , she wore little white orthopedic shoes, her white hair was fixed nicely and she even smiled at me as she went into the room across the hall which you could not see from our vantage point due to the layout of this floor. I was only working there for about 2 weeks when this happened and had yet to be assigned to the "short hall". With that said I was quite insistent as they had tears in there eyes. I got a bit angry and told them to follow me and I will show them. When we got to the door she HAD TO HAVE GONE IN TO, they said she can't be in there. I said yes this is the room she had to have gone in. (There was only one other room on that side of the hall further up on the right which I could clearly see from my original position. I swung the door open, it was pitch black and I walked in, looking for a light switch. I flicked it but it wouldn't turn on, the light from the hallway illuminated the room enough for me to see that it wasn't a patient room at all. It was about a 1/4 of the size of a pt. Room and all that was in there was an old wheelchair and an old doctor table as this is where they would bring the residents once a month for the podiatrist visits. All I can tell you is this, I have always seen things since I was a little girl but I KNEW that what I was seeing those times were not human, but THIS lady was as solid and alive looking as you and I. The girls were so freaked out and had chills, I on the other hand was pissed off bcz I swear that lady had to be in there lol. The next day word got around and a worker named Mary who had worked there for the past 18 years found me when I came in. She said she believes what I had seen the night before and said the old lady was Mrs. White. Mrs White died about 2 years prior to my employment there and THAT was her room that I had seen her come out of when she lived there. I still see strange things but I have NEVER seen something so damn solid and appear to be of THIS world since the night I watched Mrs. White go across the "short hall"
I've been a nurse for several years. I never believed in anything paranormal. but that all changed a few months ago. There are things that occur that can't be explained especially around a lot of suffering and death .

My aunt was an LPN. She said that there were some strange goings on in both locations ( old and new), in our town's Catholic hospital. Nothing as dark as some of these stories, and some were positive.
I believe the nursing home one 100%. You experience the weirdest, creepiest, most inexplicable stuff working in a nursing home. I've got so many stories. 😱😱😱

Darkness, can I suggest that you maybe place the ads along a timeline that appears at the end of a story/beginning of a new one? I don't mind the ads as I know they support you, I just think it's a helpful tip and is a kinder structure to the listener.

Late to comment as usual, this isn't a paranormal thing, but horrifying none the less. When I was in high school I had a friend who's mom was a nurse and he told me that his mother had a friend that worked in the hospital where she worked at. One night the cop brings a guy in that's one some kind of drug or maybe he was just crazy. He was fighting them and the hospital staff, somehow he grabs a needle, then stabs himself with it. Quickly they try to get it away from this guy not wanting him to hurt himself. My friend's mom and her friend ran in to help subdue the guy, that's when the guy stabbed the friend of my friend's mom with it. They got the guy restrained and calmed down. As you can guess they later found out this guy had HIV. The lady that was stabbed also contacted it later on. My friend's mom soon quit that place, he said she felt guilty for a long time about what happened to her friend. It's scary to think that things like that can happen so quickly and there's nothing you can do about it......
The only time I couldn't speak for a nurse Horror Story or a freaked out incident with a nurse is when she comes into the hospital room and says two scary words... 'Bend over'.....

Not super important but...corpsman are nothing like nurses. They're enlisted with WAY less responsibility. To be a military nurse, you must still have your RN license, and you are an officer, not enlisted. And whoever told the story knows it, and is a damn liar.

Sweetness and light when my family or other medical staff were present, hateful as HELL when we were alone. She pinched me, would pull the pillows out from under my head and back and called me names. I was too ill at first to defend myself. Complications set in and I almost died. I finally told my dad and he banned her from the room and I slowly improved. Nurse Ratchett received an official reprimand but kept her job. God help her patients, past, present and future. I don't understand why or how she ever became a nurse in the first place.
My old man is a nurse on the chronic heart failure floor at a teaching hospital. He had one of his students go check on a older gentleman. This fellow was a Vietnam War vet and had PTSD. As the student reaches him, I guess he has a flashback and punches the student right in the face, knocking her to the ground.
my true experience : My grandpa, my mom's dad for those who were wondering, has a collection of pocket knives. He told me and my cousins (four of us at the time) that we shouldn't touch his collection of pocket knives, or else an evil spirit would come at us in the night and haunt us. As a naive and stupid 6 year old, while no one else was watching, opened up one of his knife cases and just picked a knife or two up, and put them back. I spent the night that night, simply because I wanted to play Zoombinis on their computer. That night I awoke with a start and saw what seemed to be a man in a stiff coat standing over me. I was terrified as the man just stood over me. I assume I eventually fell back asleep because I woke up the next day, and remembered the whole experience. The Logical side of my mind had deduced that the experience was a dream concocted by my guilt-ridden mind, but my emotional side of my mind insists that the experience was real.
Re: the obstetrics witchcraft story. I believe that the grandmother believes her story, but I don't believe that's what actually happened. Here's why: 1) Grandma is admittedly very religious. 2) In the late 1980s and early 1990s (when the story was set) there was the Satanic Panic -- people in evangelical Christian circles were convinced that Satanists were sacrificing children and performing horrible rituals. Needless to say, the panic was absolutely groundless -- there was never any proof or evidence. 3) With an older woman mentally primed to see Satanists everywhere, she could easily have mistaken a star tattoo for a pentagram, and a routine neonatal blood draw for something insidious. (Why did the nurse stick the tube of blood under the mattress? Probably to keep it from rolling away while she bandaged the venipuncture site and documented the draw. I've done similar things myself.) 4) One single solitary patient born under the supervision of the same doctor having some sort of neurological or mental disorder in childhood is NOT proof of witchcraft.
I care for individuals with developmental disabilities for a living... And as sad as it is, so many people die in these homes. Almost every home in our company has claims of being haunted. In the home that I work in, we hear loud noises in the basement. One of my individuals is non verbal, which means he can't talk. One night i was watching tv with him and the first time I ever heard the noises in the basement, he got up immediately, and started pointing at a photo of another individual who passed away in our home not too long ago. Also, one night my coworker and I were sitting at the kitchen table and I heard a light knocking at the back door. My coworker didn't hear it, so I didn't say anything I just shrugged it off. And then all find sudden it sounds like someone is literally banging at the back door with all their might, so we both jump up and I run to the back door and nobody is there.. And my coworkers have told me stories about how the house phone beeps as if someone is picking it up and putting it back down. Creepy shit man.
I work in a hospital, often on the ICU floor. In regards to the fifth story, I can't imagine any ICU closing down a room simply because a trauma patient died in there. I mean, that's kind of the whole purpose of an intensive care unit- treating patients who need serious medical attention. I've seen patients in all sorts of horrible conditions, and yeah, several are too far gone and don't make it. But we certainly don't close down and lock the room after a patient dies, no matter what the circumstances were. One less room is one less patient that can be treated in the unit. Just sayin...
I'm pretty sure there's an actual mental illness, kind of like another personality, where they'll go some where, act differently and such. Then never remember what happened or how they got where they were. I don't remember what it is but I heard about it in my psychology class.
Been a nurse for 16 years, I've had some crazy, weird experiences over the years, for sure.

Here's why: 1) Grandma is admittedly very religious. 2) In the late 1980s and early 1990s (when the story was set) there was the Satanic Panic -- people in evangelical Christian circles were convinced that Satanists were sacrificing children and performing horrible rituals. Needless to say, the panic was absolutely groundless -- there was never any proof or evidence. 3) With an older woman mentally primed to see Satanists everywhere, she could easily have mistaken a star tattoo for a pentagram, and a routine neonatal blood draw for something insidious. (Why did the nurse stick the tube of blood under the mattress? Probably to keep it from rolling away while she bandaged the venipuncture site and documented the draw. I've done similar things myself.) 4) One single solitary patient born under the supervision of the same doctor having some sort of neurological or mental disorder in childhood is NOT proof of witchcraft.

I care for individuals with developmental disabilities for a living... And as sad as it is, so many people die in these homes. Almost every home in our company has claims of being haunted. In the home that I work in, we hear loud noises in the basement. One of my individuals is non verbal, which means he can't talk. One night i was watching tv with him and the first time I ever heard the noises in the basement, he got up immediately, and started pointing at a photo of another individual who passed away in our home not too long ago. Also, one night my coworker and I were sitting at the kitchen table and I heard a light knocking at the back door. My coworker didn't hear it, so I didn't say anything I just shrugged it off. And then all find sudden it sounds like someone is literally banging at the back door with all their might, so we both jump up and I run to the back door and nobody is there.. And my coworkers have told me stories about how the house phone beeps as if someone is picking it up and putting it back down. Creepy shit man.
I work in a hospital, often on the ICU floor. In regards to the fifth story, I can't imagine any ICU closing down a room simply because a trauma patient died in there. I mean, that's kind of the whole purpose of an intensive care unit- treating patients who need serious medical attention. I've seen patients in all sorts of horrible conditions, and yeah, several are too far gone and don't make it. But we certainly don't close down and lock the room after a patient dies, no matter what the circumstances were. One less room is one less patient that can be treated in the unit. Just sayin...
