A construction series would be good too, construction workers see some crazy shit and our jobs are some of the most dangerous in the US (depending on the trade). I'm a 3rd generation electrician and I've heard and seen some crazy shit. Fun Fact: electricians have a casualty rate about 10 times that of police officers in the US.
Yep my buddy was a correctional officer in a large jail in a major city beginning in 2005. The section he worked in was built in the early 1900s and held maximum security inmates. They used to have gallows out in what was the recreation yard before switching to the electric chair. Where they used to do electrocutions was in the basement on one end of the building and also had death row cells. The last execution was in 1962. After that the electric chair was removed and the death row area along with the execution chamber was used for storage. He was assigned to a section in the basement where they they had food trays brought in as well as dressed in new inmates. He began hearing noise and banging down the hallway. He thought it was likely a inmate trying to escape. He went to investigate and followed it to where the electric chair used to be. He searched around and was convinced it must have came from the floor above which still had inmates living on it. He was turning off the lights in the room and about to walk out of the room. That's when he heard a screaming in his ear and he ran as fast as he could. He refused to ever work in the basement ever again then eventually quit.

The story about the scarecrows makes me think the spirts of the workers from that abandoned farm may have entered the scarecrows and somehow look over the land. Or maybe it’s a demon looking for someone to pity it let it in a persons life.

Most of these stories are if not necessarily true - at least believable for me. But I don't believe in story number 2. Sounds more like a creepypasta.

i don't believe any supernatural stories on the subreddit. i mean i'm skeptical of the paranormal there is just many things that can disprove or a logical explaination, even if they are real i believe it'd be more subtle than the horror movie stories you here on subreddit. i find stories humans preferably serial killer like encounters to be more scary if it was real to be 100% honest. the living are more scary than the dead and make a much more believable story to fake if people (which i'm sure people do in afew stories).
Lorkhan Reed I think if they were made up then there would be much more diversity in the stories and monsters, but there are a lot similarities. If you were to make something up, why not create a whole new unheard of creature? Or take something ridiculous like the cookiemonster? But many of them are creatures that have been told about for thousands of years. Maybe for a reason.

My brother told me about a haunted retirement home. My brother's friend has been inside the retirement home. His friend's mom had experienced that the TV wouldn't cooperate and when his friend came into the restroom the lights turn off by themselves! Great stories! I love them!

I’ve lived next to a farm in Kentucky for about 9 years by now. I do a lot of hiking and woods exploring, so I kinda trespass on his farm without his permission. There’s an old, forgotten cemetery in the woods out there. And let me tell you: I’ve seen and heard some really creepy shit out there. I didn’t believe in demons or ghosts until I started walking around in that farm.

I use to live in an avocado plantation, it sure could get scary, specially during those rainy nights when it was so dark and loud outside that I always felt scared of someone doing a home invasion.

I grew up on a farm and loved it. Also partially raised by a beloved aunt and uncle. Never was scared there except for one time. There was something off about the barn. No one could put their finger on what it was but no one wanted to go in on that day. We had spent the entire day before in there but on this day when you walked close to it something was wrong. The hair on my neck and arms stood up and I had the worse feeling of pure fear come over me. It wasn't just me. There were about five of six other people there and we all stood there wanting someone else to go first. No one would do it. So it was finally settled that there was nothing in there that couldn't wait for the next day and the barn was avoided. The next day the feeling was gone and things went on as usual. That feeling of pure terror we all felt sure was awful. Now years later I wonder what it was.
Probably a pack of ferrets, reclaiming the fatherland.

If you don't mind me sharing, I have a couple of disturbing stories from my own farm, though they're not exactly horror worthy.
Gore warning
My family used to raise sheep, Babydolls to be exact. My mother is one of the bravest women I can imagine, but this made her cry. We had a premature lamb born with its stomach wide open, and it was alive when we found it. My mother couldn't bare to watch as my sister desperately attempted to put it down, sawing at its neck, but it just wouldn't die. She managed to disconnect the heart eventually, finally putting the poor thing out of its misery, but she was traumatized as well. There was also a year where our neighbor's dogs chased our pregnant ewes, causing most of them to give birth to stillborns. There were at least seven dead lambs, but we didn't confront the neighbors because we didn't want any trouble with them. We don't have sheep anymore.
The last thing I'll share is about the young horse we had that ripped open his stomach, spilling his intestines. He had surgery the day before to geld him, though one of his testicles hadn't dropped, so they had to open up his stomach. He went into colic and while thrashing around, ripped out the stitches. My father had to put him down.
That 3rd story town = my dream town.
The showers is great. It was my bed time story for a long time. The new fish and the strangers are good ones to.
I used to live on the Eastern shore of Maryland. Those country roads are terrifying at night, you feel so desolate and alone. Everything is so dark and so quiet and even the trees look menacing. Mostly it was just the people in Delmarva that scared me though. They freaky
