I am trying your system of medium frames for I P M, some are already drawn out. our urban flowering trees are in bloom and so there are lots of resources available. dandelion have been in bloom for 2 weeks. I hadn't thought about the moon phases so I am thinking that I should get my extra honey supers in the field. I am running all my mediums with 9 frames. you have a great week and will be looking forward to your next video.

No I meant more mites for sure! I kept an apiary in a wooded area one summer to make Sourwood honey. Even though I treated on time, mites still kicked their butts. 🐝🐝
@@thehivedoctor13 Interesting. I have never once heard of that even from the commercial beekeepers. I suspected had nothing to do with the shade. Perhaps there was another mite bomb hive that yours robbed out?
@MinnesotaBeekeeper Commercial beekeepers usually place their colonies in wide open spaces where there’s sun. I don’t know the science behind it, but when I or my students have their hives in shade most of the day, the mites seem to thrive. This may explain why the heat treatments for mites work so well. 🐝🐝

Dang Doc, you and Dunn have me worried. I stopped feeding last week because I looked into the hive and saw new capped honey and the bees have slowed consuming the 1:1. I’m on Long Island NY and you are in a warmer zone I think. How can our flow start before your’s? Going into my second year. Did I make a mistake by pulling the feeders?
Ha! My guess is that you saw “honey” from the syrup you’re feeding. But don’t worry, as long as they have plenty of weight on them they’re good! Florida’s first nectar flow is already over. Mine is about to come. Youll be delayed compared to us. Idk what or when yours is though. 🐝
@@thehivedoctor13 I thought bees won’t make honey from 1:1? I’ve actually made my syrup a touch thinner than 1:1 to make sure they won’t store it. We are in a major bloom of dead kneddle and many other early spring flowers (weeds), flowering trees including my peach trees, maple and dandelions started blooming a week ago.
@captbriansbees Hey Captain, I have always believed bees will make honey from anything once the moisture content is low enough. I’ve never heard otherwise but who knows? Idk It sounds like you have a lot blooming at the moment. Bees have been known to do fairly well on maple trees, nectar-wise🐝
The bees know quality homes when they see it!

I never actually got insurance on my bees but it was my insurance provider that told me he would do it.

It sounds like you have a lot blooming at the moment. Bees have been known to do fairly well on maple trees, nectar-wise🐝
