I feel the same way as I like working in mixed media. I feel 'real' artists think of mixed media as "craft" not "art", and it stifles a lot of us. Like you, I decide what my work is ... but it's still hard sometimes. Imposter Syndrome is great in this one (me) ... 🤣😂🤣😂
Hello Caroline! Thanks for your comment :) I also think about how mixed media arts are not much welcomed in galleries as far as I've knocked on some doors. Why is "crafty" work not art but just crafts??? I mean who decided them... why just oil paint? I think paper, glue, and other craft materials have longevity too. I encourage your work and confidence as you as an artist!! And self-doubt is sometimes the motivation, ironically. 🙏🏻🥹☺️
@@yubistudio Thank you. I finished my study last year, so I understand what you are or have gone through study wise. It's not easy, but I am enjoying watching your work process. Since finishing I have become very stagnant, but finding artists like yourself is giving me encouragement, though at the moment it's more mentally than actual practice. I will get there one day ... ☺️
@@SmithCaro Ah! So you've been in that constant deadlines of creations, finding balance between "work for the critic" and "work for myself." I think it's good for you to take that break from school.. I am also trying to find my art life to be formed naturally from the discipline from school that is not forced, but from joy. I'm glad my videos are encouraging you! It all starts from the mind☺️
