Cleaning is not done with chemical solvents but with a cleaning solution - for sale at any art store. You don't want to remove the varnish unless you know what you are doing.
There are cleaning solutions available at any artstore. These will remove dirt on top of the varnish, but won't remove the varnish. Removing the varnish requires actual chemical solvents - not recomended for untrained persons.
The Art person leaves a bit to be desired. Staples, Saliva and testing solvant right on the face rather then a much more inconspicuous place are just a few things.
I could listen to Lucia all day. (and watch Dom a good part of the night) Please, please, please bring more seasons to Netflix. We need it so much.
Dom has his own youtube channel now
Lucia is awesome, I could watch her all day long.
Love The Repair Shop. Best programme on TV.
It's just so... kind.
@@bondfool Absolutely.
I love the show but what I miss is the final reveal!
I am in awe! What you did was nothing short of a miraculous resurrection. Well done!
Longer episodes please!!!
Lucia is clearly extremely talented and empathetic...
Wonderful restoration..great job.😊😊😊
A brilliant programme! Leaves other similar less watchable programmes in the 'for profit only' area! Keep it up people please
I love that painting, it came up so well.
So disappointing that that's not in this video!! I didn't see this episode... Is there a picture somewhere of the finished painting?
What is the "solvent" she uses? I need to know to clean a few paintings here at the church.

Julian Baumgartner would not approve of the staples.
My thoughts exactly!
Still think it is mighty handy, instead of the nails... But he says: staples will destroy more surface of the canvas edge and are therefore inferior.
The staples weren’t going into the canvas - but into the polyester cloth she added.
I came to the comments to see if I was the only one that thought of Julian!! LOL, I'm glad someone else enjoys him as much as I do!
how do i get to see part 2
Why not show the picture finished? Sheesh!
What solvent do you use on varnished oil paintings? Would you use solvent if there is no varnish?

Staples?! 🤢

Agreed on your points... although salive contains enzymes and using enzymes is one possible cleaning solution for paintings.
@@t.haarsma3984 as an painter my self i use spit to help thin paints and to make go on easier
gross? Yes. does it work? Yes.
She needs to watch Brumgartner Restoration. He is a master restorer.
@Nancy Mills No staples!!! Lol (from Baumgartner)
