- Enjoyed a cooler day with some rain showers. Enjoy some fun treats with Tulip. Lots of vocals and a new food, mulberry branches. Stormy let me know that my alfalfa cubes are not good. But she seemed to enjoy the soaked hay and some fresh grass. Worked on the enclosures inbetween showers. A surprise at the end! Today we welcomed two tiny raccoon brothers. As they get more stable I’ll share their rescue story. They are survivors.

I am guessing Tulip is missing her little friend-they really seemed to be hitting it off!! My heart is sad and sore as I am remembering Petunia playing with the rings just like Tulip. The woman who ran our cat rescue group would say “they are not all meant to survive” but I never found that very comforting. I miss Petunia and I am sad she does not get to leave her best life.
It’s ok to be sad. I’m still crying every day. With time the pain will lessen but a scar will forever be in my heart.
She lived the best life she could for as long as she could ❤️ I still cry and miss her as well. But I'm still very happy to be able to still "check up on" Stormy Rose and Tulip. I really hope that some day they will also share a bond, and I'm glad that Tulip doesn't seem to lonely without her stealing her food and trying to ride her ❤️🩹 I'm happy to see new babies even if they are raccoons. They are still adorable and need Holly.
@@hmuraco What exactly happened to Petunia?
@VEChaplin Holley mentioned in the description of a previous video that it seems Petunia had a heart defect. The normal heart rate for a beaver is not known, so she mentioned that as an area for research that she would like to explore. And also that she would incorporate heart rate monitoring in all future orphans that come in.

It seems like Tulip has a watermelon song, as well as a sweet potato song! I love hearing her little grunts as she chews happily. What a precious girl she is! I’m sure she’s been a great comfort to you, Holley. I really love Stormy’s new name, Stormy Rose. She’s so fortunate to be with you, even though she doesn’t care for alfalfa blocks!

Tulip wasted no time finding and completely destroying the watermelon.
I could watch Tulip eat for hours with those little hands. She is so adorable ❤❤❤ And Stormy sleeping on her back, she must feel relaxed.

it's tough to see how heaven would be a lot different from life at Casa de Muraco.

And the melons or'nge glare, sweet potatoes in air, gave proof in the pool that our dam is still there. Tulip is quite the communicator! Happy 4th of July! Love your new baby! I feed a released former rehab raccoon who is also very definite about her favorite foods. She likes peanut butter sandwich cookies she dips in water. 😊

@@cmstacy In October when the raccoons go on a eating frenzy before winter hibernation I believe it was 100 pounds per week.
@@gfriedman99 Holy crapola…that’s a lot of wieners ! I have some raccoons that visit me at night. I put out peanuts in shell, dry cat food, apples, left over bread and marshmallows. Also have three groundhogs that visit during the early morning. Squirrels, blue jays, other birds and stray cats stop by at my Kitty Cafe daily. It’s my joy in life. I live in town, our neighbor has chickens and the rooster crows loudly each morning. Sometimes the young chickens escape and come to my yard for some cracked corn. Have you any critters that visit ?
@@cmstacy Same here. Feeding the wildlife adds purpose to each day. I give the raccoons dry food and apples along with any leftover scraps. I have had groundhogs in past years. I feed the squirrels and blue jays every afternoon peanuts in the shell. This year I put out an Oriole feeder with grape jelly and they go to it constantly. But this year was different as we had 4 wild turkeys nesting in the area. They walk around my lawn eating bugs with their chicks and take a break by sunning themselves on my patio.
Someone was enjoying her watermelon 😂. Hope Stormy Rose enjoyed her snooze too. Welcome new babies!!❤

@@richardconway6425 Beavers in the wild tend to sleep most of the day away and only come out around dusk. It's normal for them to be sleeping during the hottest part of the day. Maybe we will get some night camera footage of her again! I do love seeing her sleep so comfortable and splayed out. She looks like she's finally feeling safe. ❤️ I'm not sure how many of the other videos you've seen but there's a host of other birds, cats, dogs and more! This women definitely has a whole rehab center, and building the enclosures with just the help of her own family! Dr. Holly is a super woman!!!

Tulip's musical repertoire grows ever larger. Adding the Watermelon Waltz to the Strawberry Serenade, the Sweet Potato Polka, the Banana Belly Dance and the Broccoli Ballet. 😊

Hello Holley. Do you think Tulip might be missing Petunia? She’d become Petunia’s companion and teacher. Have you noticed any grieving in Tulip? Still miss Petunia’s totally original personality and fashion sense. 🦫🌸
I am still shedding tears daily over losing our perfect angel Petunia. My heart continues to ache for everyone who fell in love with her. Sharing these animals comes with a risk for heartbreak and I am so sorry. Although Tulip and Petunia enjoyed being with each other they had not bonded. Bonded beavers need each other and can sometimes become depressed when separated. I think Stormy misses her bonded beaver partner/family and that is part of our issue with getting her fully healthy. She is getting better though! I am thankful that Tulip is not sad or depressed. Colton and I are spending lots of time with her. She loves playing and grooming with us. Tulip is good. In nature it’s not unusual for animals to come and go in life. Beavers mate for life but the parents reach a point where they have to push the older kids out of the territory. Coming and going is a part of life. When humans kill a beaver parent or both parents and leave orphans that breaks my heart. I am thankful that Petunia received love and security in her short life and that she didn’t die alone. Sometimes I think that I’m not strong enough to do this. But if I can provide love, kindness and compassion even if it’s for a day for an animal in need I must push forward. They deserve it. Petunia was so special and my hope is that her adorable memories will continue to inspire people to fall in love with beavers. Thank you for caring.

You continue to take in new babies and care for animals that don't even understand how much we all love them and how much you do for them.
