    For years during the freedom struggle, India fought valiantly against the British to gain the right to self-government. At the time, several other oppressed people around the world also made numerous sacrifices to see the end of the colonialism. The United Nations (UN) also played a big role in it. But the million-dollar question is that has it ended? Well, the answer is no.
    As per a UN data, there around 17 non-self-governing territories around the world, where less than two million people still live under colonial rule.
    According to the chapter XI of UN charter, the non-self-governing territories are whose people have not yet attained a full measure of self-government.
    The UN has also prepared a list of these territories. The list, which was last updated on September 22, 2020, includes Montserrat, Saint Helena, Anguilla, British Virgin Islands, United States Virgin Islands, Gibraltar, Cayman Islands, Falkland Islands (Malvinas), Turks and Caicos Islands, French Polynesia, American Samoa, Guam, Pitcairn, New Caledonia, Tokelau, etc.
    The list says New Zealand, United Kingdom, France and United States are some of the countries, which hold these territories.
    During the inception of UN, around some 750 million people, which was nearly a third of the world's population, used to live in territories dependent on colonial powers.
    Born with the UN, the wave of decolonisation changed the face of the planet. It is also one of the world body’s biggest successes.
    Due to the decolonisation, around 80 former colonies have gained independence. It also includes all 11 Trust Territories, which achieved self-determination through independence or free association with an independent state.
    As of now, the special committee formed by the world body continues to monitor the situation in the remaining 17 territories. It is working to facilitate their advance towards complete self-determination.

    3:20 it makes no sense my friend, what you are saying. California, Montana and Tenneessee also had native people living there. Does this mean they are also colonies? you only talk about Hawaii because they are geographically separated from the mainland, but what does that matter?

  • @mrworldwide7387
    @mrworldwide7387 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Just because a territory is far away from the mainland doesn't make it unrightful
    what matters is what the locals want
    If the peoples of Hawaii or French Guiana want to be a part of the US or France then so be it

      I agree Mr. Worldwide ahahaha but the Philippines for example where the people don’t even have a voice, or Puerto rico for that matter. Or the Falkland islands for example that english migrants became “the natives” should they be the ones deciding?

    I definitely see where you´re going with this and I share your sentiment however when approaching subjects like this one must take caution to not sound too "angry". Despite France and Britain still holding remnants of their past empires they aren't officially colonies so making a video stating otherwise and simply saying "trust me" isn't going to rub people the right way. Btw any chance you can provide some source for the image at 8:19? Looks familiar but I can really place it... Like always keep up the good work, cant wait to see the next video!

      Yeah I might have been too harsh and should be expecting the hate since people don’t like to be called colonialists… no I don’t have any source for the picture at 8:19 sorry… But thank you so much for your support and feedback!😀👍

      @@Culturiosity Back lash doesn't nee to be hate! I didn't read any hate comment! But we did feel your hate and hypocrisy!!! The reality that you pretend doesn't happen is that the refuges are colonizing us now and bringing tribalism incompatible to civil society, not colonial society! That's what people are correcting you, yet you deny, deflect and project, and that's the only reason you have so many views 1.5K, which is still nothing, and only 43 likes :D and 17 dislikes. Your fans don't like your work!!! Must be frustrating being you! How's britistan treating you? ;)
