So its been a while since my last video and there's a good reason for that. Me and the koi have been encountering some issues by the pond.... But I'm back!

You’re not alone,felt the same at times but things do get better.you can’t buy experience.every pond works differently and no one knows yours better than yourself. Keep going👍🏻

Good to see you back. Underestimate the heron at your peril. 99% of the time, you'll never see herons at your pond as they feed at dawn (which is about 4:30-5:00 in summer).
You'll only notice missing fish. I've lost 5 this year but have a more natural set up, so didn't immediately notice that they were gone.
I can appreciate that mate and gutted to hear about that. I just don’t want nets and never had issue yet. Like you say it’s a risk to take but so far I’m happy.

Good to see you back on it mate. The only failure is to stop trying. I've had some dark moments in this hobby but come out the other side at the moment! Every days a school day however experienced you are. I like your honesty in the vids and anyone who says it's plain sailing is not telling the truth. Look forward to sharing your journey👍

I’m so glad to see you’re back. Been wondering what happened to you. I think it’s great that you’re exposing all the sides to koi keeping. The good, the bad and the ugly. People need to understand it’s not all roses. You sharing can help a lot of people in the hobby. I’ll be eagerly awaiting your up coming videos, good and bad. ❤

Glad to see youre back Johnny. I noticed your pump is only turned to 36% mate. Is that right.
Yeah mate i found that the koi like that level of flow the best mate
@@koifishjohnny you want the filters to be able to cope with their waste which is more important bud. If they are doing that, that's fair enough but 36% on( is that a 30,000 variflow) seems awfully low to me mate. Just an observation

I only have 4 small ish koi in there so not concerned at present and parameter coming back fine. But defo more koi, more sun and I’d defo be looking at moving it up. Your a belter mate nice one🙏

Great to see you on form again, my pond is uncovered and unheated as koi are 4 season fishes etc , I used to have issues with parasites but I now use salt in my pond ,but only to 0.3 % never lost a koi since.touch wood . I did plenty of research first and never looked back.good luck.

The "mouldy turd" was left for you by a Pigeon. You said they were in attendance so makes sense, and yes they can do ones that big.
It would have to be a massive pigeon and have to have instantly gone moldy. Who knows hahaha. Cheers mate
@@koifishjohnny One of those turned up ion my garden 2 days ago and "luckily" I had CCTV on it. Was thinking maybe fox or badger, but upon checking the footage a pigeon stopped in his tracks squeezed that out, then had a good look back at it before getting on with his day. A proud moment for it I'm sure, haha.

And there are no reports about KOI swimming or behaviour?
In Japan, everyone spends most of their time doing that.

It's nice to see you are back in the hobby mate keep your chin up mate I have had loads of problems with my koi collection mate and in my grow on pond has well we just have to work through the problems as they come mate.

My take on it is... the entire pond is the eco system. Why koi keepers just think it's the filter I don't know! . It don't matter where your filter is..... your all just keep fuming with it cos you think you know better. Leave nature sort it. Best wishes mate

Why do people have gas on their ponds, they look awful. Koi fish are bred to be viewed from the top and not to view them like in an aquarium. Don't understand who has brought this idea to have glass, looks so un natural. Sorry to say this! Jus being honest!

I like the glass, I prefer the top down view 💯 but like the glass and as it’s my pond. It would be boring if we all liked the same thing hey 👋 thanks mate and take care
Your pond itself is very beautiful, but my comment is the glass, Koi in Japan are bred to be viewed from the top, they don't look very good looking from the side! Good luck, irrespective of my comment. We must always encourage Koi keepers!!
@@olunelum1 100% agree mate. TBH I miss my sunken pond for that reason but I like the glass as it also offers the ability to observe the koi and its health. Dont worry mate I havent took offense and thanks for the support and kind comments mate. 100% on the encouragement for koi keeping mate
@@koifishjohnny Good luck with your pond! I think a glass at the back of the pond may be a good idea to check koi health, but I think observing koi from the top is magic. The insertion of glass on to ponds have become fashionable but observing koi from the top is timeless way to enjoy them. When I look at Koi from the side like in an aquarium, they don't look so good. Just my opinion though. Good luck!
