The reason why Hazard and Mane's legacy is greater than that of Son despite them being equal in quality is really down to trophies. A players performances mean way way more to fans and to the football community as a whole if they help your team lift stuff. The fact that he hasn't won major silverware isn't his fault of course since football is a team sport but it plays a huge role. He would've been put in the same conversation as Mane and Hazard if Spurs won that UCL in 2019 that's for sure.

I think when Kane got injured around 2-3 years ago and spurs had to play son up top without kane was probably the best thing to happen to him in terms of recognition. Most people who didn’t really notice or watch him specifically started to go ‘spurs play better without Kane’ due to his star shining much more. Son is genuinely one of the most entertaining players the league’s had in years and honestly, the whole league’s going to feel his absence when he unfortunately leaves. I really respect Son. One of the worlds most underrated and overlooked players (together with the likes of Müller). I hate Spurs for what they did to Ajax in 2018/19, but Son is simply a spectacular man on and off the pitch and he has been for several consecutive years now.

Folks are far too comfortable acting like Sonny isn't world class whenever he goes through a dry spell like any other footballer when the stats from the last 6 seasons clearly prove otherwise. He carried a lot when Harry was out in 18/19 during that UCL final run and especially last year when we were stuck with Nuno and before Harry got back to his best under Conte around February.

Son looks lethal when in possession. The guy is a truly well rounded attacker. Dribble past defenders, use space, make runs from deep, great touch, can pick out a pass and has that poacher side as well.

I would argue that racism and nationality is a major factor. While there are many top tier foreign players, Son is the only top tier Asian player. He's been ridiculed for being a marketing ploy to sell jerseys in his early days and he's always labeled as "the best Asian player".
For his own legacy, Son needs to move to a team which plays more positive attacking football. At Spurs, with the addition of Perisic and Richarlison, Son's game has been affected badly. Yesterday against Arsenal, Son had O shots at goal with Kane and Richarlison getting most of the limited attacking opportunities. Spurs will not win the EPL, Conte has a bad record at Champions league, so realistically it's the less prestigious trophies he has a chance of getting. The disrespect from his own plastics Spurs fan base (sorry to those Spurs fans who love him but there is a significant proportion who don't or at least wanted Son dropped to the bench) will only get worse as the leash on Son is far shorter than others. The 3 things he should care about the most right now is trophies, a manager who plays a style of football that maximises his talents and game time. Spurs ain't it.
He’s amazing at what he does but a bit limited. He’s great when the ball is at his feet when he can burst through the opponent’s line with his direct dribbling ability and blistering pace but he’s not particularly strong at one-on-one or in tight spaces. His shooting ability and his run in behind and blind side movements perfectly complement this but that is essentially the only thing he excels at.
Some media is the problem. Some media always creates problems. Son Heung-min is loved by many fans, and there are media that respect Son Heung-min.. I think some media and racists are the biggest problem.

Son is one of my favorite players ever. He's the only soccer player who doesn't play for my team, whom jersey I own. He's a great guy, humble, and an all around great player. If he was doing what he does for Barca or Real or Liverpool or City...he'd have a lot player of the year wins and noms. He's the best overall player on his team, but is in the shadow of the player ppl prefer to talk about, Harry Kane. He's a ballon tier player if he's in Spain. But as you said, he isn't selfish...so he doesn't publicly care about awards or would be situations for him. He's electric and often a catalyst.

The way I see it, Son plays to win, for the points and to push the team to glory. He doesn't play for stats, goals, awards or personal victory. If you take Son out of Spurs, the whole team will suffer and struggle.

I think the reason he's not more appreciated es both the he plays for the Spurs AND he is not english. Given that Spurs generally do not even compete for the title, there is not much room to consider that two of its players are elite. There's room for one and that has to be, probably, the best englishman of NT. If you take out Kane from that list of best players in the PL you are left with foreign players. Not even a single British nominee. So cannot omit Kane and having two Spurs player is excessive.

No titles is what kills him. I wish it weren’t the case but it is. There is a requirement for players to be considered world class. It is why a player like Michael Jordan is better than Lebron James or Kobe Bryant. 6 NBA championships speaks volumes in addition to the consistent performances. Son is more lethal than every other winger short of Ronaldo and Messi. He is just missing the ability to beat a player 1v1 rather than on the counter. His dribbling just isn’t epic like Hazard or Salah.
re: first theory, it's probably because of him being an Asian rather than him not being an English. Asian football in general is not being properly appreciated in football community, outside of occasional world cup upsets from Japan or Korea. I think the bias against Son, conscious or subconscious, stems from that perception.

I think when Kane got injured around 2-3 years ago and spurs had to play son up top without kane was probably the best thing to happen to him in terms of recognition. Most people who didn’t really notice or watch him specifically started to go ‘spurs play better without Kane’ due to his star shining much more. Son is genuinely one of the most entertaining players the league’s had in years and honestly, the whole league’s going to feel his absence when he unfortunately leaves.

I really respect Son. One of the worlds most underrated and overlooked players (together with the likes of Müller). I hate Spurs for what they did to Ajax in 2018/19, but Son is simply a spectacular man on and off the pitch and he has been for several consecutive years now.

Folks are far too comfortable acting like Sonny isn't world class whenever he goes through a dry spell like any other footballer when the stats from the last 6 seasons clearly prove otherwise. He carried a lot when Harry was out in 18/19 during that UCL final run and especially last year when we were stuck with Nuno and before Harry got back to his best under Conte around February.
He’s actually a legend. Honestly my favourite player at the moment it’s a joke that people start criticising him after a few bad games in spite of all the amazing performances and skills he’s shown throughout the years.
Son looks lethal when in possession. The guy is a truly well rounded attacker. Dribble past defenders, use space, make runs from deep, great touch, can pick out a pass and has that poacher side as well.
Its not that he is underappreciated, we all know he is world class. The only reason he doesnt have the limelight is because of the lack of major trophies.

For his own legacy, Son needs to move to a team which plays more positive attacking football. At Spurs, with the addition of Perisic and Richarlison, Son's game has been affected badly. Yesterday against Arsenal, Son had O shots at goal with Kane and Richarlison getting most of the limited attacking opportunities. Spurs will not win the EPL, Conte has a bad record at Champions league, so realistically it's the less prestigious trophies he has a chance of getting. The disrespect from his own plastics Spurs fan base (sorry to those Spurs fans who love him but there is a significant proportion who don't or at least wanted Son dropped to the bench) will only get worse as the leash on Son is far shorter than others. The 3 things he should care about the most right now is trophies, a manager who plays a style of football that maximises his talents and game time. Spurs ain't it.

He’s amazing at what he does but a bit limited. He’s great when the ball is at his feet when he can burst through the opponent’s line with his direct dribbling ability and blistering pace but he’s not particularly strong at one-on-one or in tight spaces. His shooting ability and his run in behind and blind side movements perfectly complement this but that is essentially the only thing he excels at.

He's a great guy, humble, and an all around great player. If he was doing what he does for Barca or Real or Liverpool or City...he'd have a lot player of the year wins and noms. He's the best overall player on his team, but is in the shadow of the player ppl prefer to talk about, Harry Kane. He's a ballon tier player if he's in Spain. But as you said, he isn't selfish...so he doesn't publicly care about awards or would be situations for him.

The way I see it, Son plays to win, for the points and to push the team to glory. He doesn't play for stats, goals, awards or personal victory. If you take Son out of Spurs, the whole team will suffer and struggle.

In America we kind of take in for granted that the league MVP is the best player from amongst the top few best teams. Very often simply the best player on the best team unless someone else had a clearly better season. And even then that someone else is almost always from amongst the top few teams that year. Not everyone like the fact but that is the way it usually is. If Spurs were challenging for trophies... He’d have a much better chance at individual accolades.

It comes down to playing for Spurs. If he was at those other clubs and was winning trophies, he’d gain far more respect and recognition. Hell, if he was at ManU and not winning trophies, he’d be recognized.
I think the reason he's not more appreciated es both the he plays for the Spurs AND he is not english. Given that Spurs generally do not even compete for the title, there is not much room to consider that two of its players are elite. There's room for one and that has to be, probably, the best englishman of NT. If you take out Kane from that list of best players in the PL you are left with foreign players. Not even a single British nominee. So cannot omit Kane and having two Spurs player is excessive.

No titles is what kills him. I wish it weren’t the case but it is. There is a requirement for players to be considered world class. It is why a player like Michael Jordan is better than Lebron James or Kobe Bryant. 6 NBA championships speaks volumes in addition to the consistent performances. Son is more lethal than every other winger short of Ronaldo and Messi. He is just missing the ability to beat a player 1v1 rather than on the counter. His dribbling just isn’t epic like Hazard or Salah.
re: first theory, it's probably because of him being an Asian rather than him not being an English. Asian football in general is not being properly appreciated in football community, outside of occasional world cup upsets from Japan or Korea. I think the bias against Son, conscious or subconscious, stems from that perception.
