The fact that she is completely free right now just baffles my mind. @Lu M Yeah it’s really difficult, especially for the more sensitive of us Homo Sapiens. On the murder trial I was selected to be a juror on, I didn’t cry in court, but you bet your butt I wept like an infant the second I got home every time. I can’t imagine having to be a juror in this case, especially with the details of her little brother’s murder. It’s absolutely heart-wrenching, and I can imagine not everyone was able to hold back their emotions in court for that and other aspects of this case. Hope the jurors and extended family are coping as best they can these days. Life can be really hard, I suppose we can only do whatever we can to make time for things that feed our souls and make us happy, hopefully while lifting others up as we do so. Definitely not an unpopular opinion. Anyone who disagrees has issues. Anyone who commits a crime, especially a heinous crime should get the death penalty. No life (which is 15 years to life), no life without parole, just death. If people have no fear of jail than why would they care to commit the type of crimes. Many people don't care because they have three meals and a cot for free, education, and more resources then our homeless people. It's disgusting. Often people are being tortured more there than they are receiving the death penalty. You gotta think of the nature of the crime, too. Smoking or buying weed is a crime that people are jailed for. Addiction is essentially a crime, & it's only poor people who go to jail for it. The rich rarely go to jail or prison for a significant amount of time, for anything. Plus there are so many innocent people on death row that were exonerated after the fact -- Look up The Innocence Project. Most of the exonerated are unfortunately poor Black people, like 14-year old George Stinney 😔😔. The US just gets its wrong more often than not; our justice system is broken. I dont trust it to make the right choice on who dies. Imo there are better ways to get resorative justice, teach others not to commit crime, & to make a community + survivors of the crime safer, than killing a person. Why not make them give back to the community in some way, while in jail? Not just sit there & take taxpayer dollars, as you say. And really it's the wardens & executives getting the benefits of the dollars, not the prisoners. The prisoners have to sit in their own shit all day.

The way that Jacob's last words fucking ripped my heart apart. Im an older sister myself and my little brother and sister are my entire pride and joy. She didn't deserve to be in that family. My heart hurts so much, I just wish someone could've swooped in and saved him and told him everything would've been alright. That poor baby didn't deserve that. The fact that she said the sudden personality change "came out of nowhere" i was really skeptical. Later in the video tho she said the girl went to catholic school. Now i know not all catholic schools are the same, but when i went, we got beat, constantly told we were going to hell of we didnt dress a certain way, got oogled (and sometimes touched) once a week by the leaders, and vehemently denied anything related to mental illness. And she went a few years before i did, when there was even less scrutiny against them. What she did was horrible and im not negating that. But the parents seemed genuinely kinda neglectful. 11 year olds are crafty but they arent smart.

You weren’t manipulated by someone who was also a killer. He would talk about murdering people to together and how romantic it would be for them to do it together. He might have been worried about kidnapping charges. That said, I think her being into the goth scene might have played in to how she was convinced? Not that goth culture is bad, but it's really big into death. If the first story they both told is true, that she stabbed her brother and then realised what she'd actually just done, it may be that she didn't ACTUALLY understand "death" and that they were really killing her family for real. To a child goth, death is just "cool" and loving death is "rebellious". To older teens and adults, generally, its about appreciating the beauty in death and the end and acceptance and stuff, but to children it's more broad strokes and big picture "death iz kool and dark and evil" and I really do think it's easy for a child who thinks that way to think the idea of murder is hella cool, but not actually GET IT. I think it's sad what she did, but I don't think she deserves prison for the rest of her life. That's not condusive. Prison should be for people who are an actual danger to society. I don't think Jasmine is. She should be on probation her whole life, and should have to check in with a therapist every month. She should have certain privileges denied to her.

We would cook/bake together, watch 5 minute crafts, do our nails, and she would go over to her neighbor friends house while I stayed behind and played with the family cat. When she came back, I'd ask her what they did and she'd say they played spa or something. Willingly hanging out with a child when you aren't babysitting or related to them is weird as hell. You have nothing in common (and shouldn't, really!)
I remember being 11/12 yrs old. I was a troubled kid with an abusive child hood and I didn't go around hurting others. Just because the brain isn't fully developed doesn't mean she didn't know it was wrong to kill someone.

I understand that that the police allowed them to write letters back and forth to hopefully get more evidence against them, but it honesty just baffles me that no one actually tried to stop a relationship between a 13 year old and a 24 year old while they were incarcerated. Actually once her parents found out that she was dating Jeremy they did everything to keep him away but she still found ways to be with him. The fact that she wanted to go into the foster care system is disturbing because she was lucky to have a loving and dedicated family compared to those in the system who have parents who abused and were traumatized. Minors don’t have the brain development to truly grasp the consequences of their actions. As the adult, he “boyfriend” (*cough* abuser *cough*) should have stopped her. If she was an adult and felt like she wanted to live with her boyfriend, say 18, she could’ve made the dumb decision to move out instead of killing her family. Like in her 13 year old mind, killing them was the only option. Which is why she didn’t get life; she wasn’t and was not able to be in the right mind. She was engaging in shit she had no business being apart of because she was 12-13 years old. Her parents should’ve been more involved from the beginning (a drastic change in appearance is a red flag) and called the police on this MAN who requests child porn from a child.
Personally, I really think that she was a victim as well. She was being groomed by a guy twice her age, she was just barely going through puberty, and she allowed herself to be manipulated by this guy. So I think her sentencing was enough, it also gave her the chance to get therapy and realize that Jeremy was just a creep and a predator. Alot of people say age isn't an excuse, and in some cases that's right. (people like James Charles for instance) any allegations that came out about him came out when he was an adult. 18+, so the 'he was young' excuse doesn't really work for him. but people like jasmine, she was still in middle (and in some places 7th grade is actually still considered elementary school). I think she just loved the idea that an older guy was into her, and would do anything to keep him.

When you've been groomed once something major happens, big enough the consequences of what's going on or the reality of the situation seeps through the effectively brainwashing and manipulation, you'll have a moment of clarity sometimes Or when you get distance from the abuser reality comes back. I don't have siblings, but my cousins and I are so close, it's basically like having brothers and a sister. I can't even contemplate accidentally hurting them, let alone premeditated murdering them. When you described Jacob's last words, it crushed my soul. I normally don't cry during these videos, but this time I started to sob. Jasmine is one of the cruelest, coldest murderers I have ever heard about during these true crime cases.

Jeremy was second degree cousins to me. I never met or knew him or any of his family. I still remember my aunt and her family having police stationed with them the days following this massacre because they weren't sure if her and her boyfriend would seek out other family members. It is insane. I cannot imagine the pain and betrayal her parents and brother went through in their final moments.
That’s crazy. I agree. I just think about how when her mother birthed her and they were more than likely crying with joy while holding Jasmine. Not even knowing the baby in their arms is gonna be responsible for their deaths and the death of their younger son only 12 years later.
Apparently what they’ve been up to; Jeremy changed his name in prison. Her friend Kacy was actually charged with obstruction and got one year of house arrest as part of a plea. Jasmine has been to university. Jasmine was in a psychiatric hospital for four years before going to university. Then she spent four more years under supervision while she was at college. That was in a different town so she’s probably still there. If anyone was wondering what they were up to those are the most recent events. I’m not sure why she didn’t include them in the video. ^^;;;

Just wanted to add that I remember exactly when this all happened. I lived a street down from them, her brother went to my school. I remember my mum being brought into the office that morning and telling her what happened, as we just transferred due to moving there a couple months prior. Thank you for bringing light to this. At 12 years old I hadn’t even kissed a boy. I was still riding my bike to the public library every weekend. This story is just insane. I cannot wrap my head around it. That girl is just plain evil. This whole thing sounds like what nearly happened to me, except fortunately my parents were able to cut me off from the guy before anything really awful happened.
As a Canadian citizen, I grew up being told this case. I was 4 when it happened but probably 9 when I was told/heard about it. my opinion changed a lot since then even after being taught about Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) in grade 9. I do like the YCJA but I think jasmine should have been charged as an adult. I understand she was groomed and was probably gaslighted. but that doesn't change my thoughts and opinions.

Just think about all the cases of abducted people and if they develop it. No. Second - the guy was telling people he is werewolf! How mature do you think he was? I've heard about this case before and it's just shocking and heartbreaking of what happened to the Richardson Family. Also Jeremy could have prevented the murder but he chose not to. Could you cover the case about Jordan Davis Hailey? He's a 17 year old teenage boy who gunned down at a gas station in Jacksonville, Florida the day after thanksgiving in 2012 over loud music.

This case is what took my rosy colored glasses off. I was 15. My mom was watching her many true crime shows and I just happened to pop in on this one. She held me as I sobbed. The brother is what got me. Stilllll gets me to this day. I still say a little prayer/sweet thoughts/vibes/light and energy to their souls.
Yes, she should have gotten life. She had the idea and made sure it was followed through. While I realize she was a victim of his being that he was grooming her, he became her victim in her horrible murder plan. He wouldn't have killed them if she hadn't pushed for it. Just my opinion of course.

I have recently seen another video about this case but decided to watch yours anyway because I had a feeling I would learn information that was not in the previous video I saw and sure enough I was right. What I really like about your videos is the research you put into finding out about the life of the victims and who they were as individuals. It's a nice show of compassion and its why you and Kendall rae are my favorite channels to watch for this kind of stuff because you take the time to put focus on the victims instead of just covering the facts of the incident
I'm an older sister to 3 siblings, and while they get on my last nerve alot of the time, I would never ever even think of doing such a horrible thing. I love my siblings alot and I hate it when people hurt them or their feelings, so I can't even imagine doing something so cruel myself. She's not only a horrible person but also a horrible child and horrible sister. Her duty as his sister was to protect him no matter what and she killed him instead.

This shit happens all the time. I remember when I was like 14/15 I used to date men in their mid 20s. It's like they know who to target (vulnerable victims of abuse and other stuff) I remember thinking it was so normal at the time (because i was mature for my age) but now I realize how much trauma those relationships caused me.

She deserved it. She got to be alone in the house where her now dead family were in and she was alone with their bodies. In the book written about this case called Runaway Devil she called a cab to take her to Jeremy’s home. The taxi cab responder described they received a call from a girl that sounded distressed & was whimpering.
Someone in the comments said "she got another shot at life." Nonsense! As if she even deserved it. The ppl she killed won't get another shot at life, they did not deserve to be killed. not one bit. The fact that her brother said "I'm scared, I'm to young to die" broke my heart. Overall, Jasmine was not deserving of a another shot at life. I think she should have stayed in prison for more than just 10 years regardless of her age.
Her parents actually cared about her and tried to help, and the little brother… I don’t know how she did that. I have a younger brother myself so that part hit really close to home, absolutely heartbreaking.
Jasmine and I were born in the same year, I'm glad I didn't use social media or email during that age 😅,, what a depressing story 😔 but I like it bc it brings awareness to parents to really monitor your children and who they are talking to.
She should've gotten a lot more time in prison. Knowing well or not, she brought up the idea of murdering her family, Jeremy just agreed. If they would've never met, she probably would've done it herself because sure he brought a little bit of fuel to the fire, but Jasmine still got into many fights with her parents and got angry with them quite frequently. All I know is in my opinion, Jasmine being free currently does not sit right with me after what she did to that poor young boy. Rest In Peace.

I live in Medicine Hat, born and raised. I’m the same age as Jeremy and met him a handful of times (it’s a small city and you tend to have connections to.. everyone). He was very much a lost soul, would go from one friend group to another, from one school to another until he dropped out altogether. For a while he tried fitting in with the jocks, the punks, the druggies, and eventually scraped the bottom of the barrel and got deep into the occult group. He was that way for years before he met Jasmine. I didn’t know him very well, but I did know his sister, and I still feel sorry for her too. And that poor Richardson family. As far as I’m aware, the Richardson house is still empty. I’ve always had a gut feeling that he never would have hurt anyone if he hadn’t gotten wrapped up in that relationship with Jasmine.

Something was going wrong in my head, we had moved recently and I was homeschooled in a religious fundamentalist family and I was in the throes of puberty.. I was talking to adult men on aol instant messenger lying about my age. Feeling oh so oppressed. Would pretty much do anything for a boy who paid attention to me. I'm so glad my parents figured it out AND watched as I typed up an apology email to these strange men telling them my actual age, then they moved the family computer into the kitchen. It doesn't sound like Jasmine's parents were even particularly strict. For 11/12 years old it sounds like she had more freedoms than many kids with "strict" parents. Honestly a trait in teenagers I feel like you have to watch out for is *how far from their own morals and principals* they will go for other people (friends or love interests). That isn't loyalty, that is having zero self-esteem.
There's no way those older men did not suspect that you were younger than you were saying as well. I'm really glad nothing really sinister happened to you but I'm sure this had an effect on you, so I'm sorry you went through that. And agreed, people who don't consider themselves worthy will often do anything for just an ounce of validation and it's really sad.
as an older sister listening to the description of jacobs death hurt so much. i can't possibly imagine allowing that to happen to any of my siblings, let alone trying to kill them myself. especially over a boy, but i'm an adult with an adult brain, i want to feel bad for her for being a victim of grooming, but it sounds like she did a lot of the legwork... frustrating that she's free.

I hate to say this, but a lot of men will not speak up or do anything if they see one of their friends doing something like that. There are some men that would cut him off, but I suspect his friends didn't care because she did "consent" & he "wasn't hurting her" or "age is just a number" or something along those lines, especially since she looked older than she actually was. Men often excuse, enable or turn a blind eye to the disgusting, predatory behavior of other men because they think it would be too much hassle or drama to speak up.

It is very likely Jasmine was sexually abused, and that this is why she radically changed both her appearance and behavior in such a short time. It's very common for victims of sexual assault to try to change everything about themselves because they think it will deter future attacks. Becoming promiscuous is another usual response in the aftermath of a sexual assault. For some girls (and women), this makes them feel in control temporarily - i.e. if they initiate sexual encounters, they won't be forced upon them. Puberty doesn't explain much about her behavior at all. Jasmine's level of rage also speaks to having been traumatized. Not saying there weren't other factors in the culmination of this whole grisly tale, I'm betting there were. Sigh, what a terrible story. Thank you :^)

On the murder trial I was selected to be a juror on, I didn’t cry in court, but you bet your butt I wept like an infant the second I got home every time. I can’t imagine having to be a juror in this case, especially with the details of her little brother’s murder. It’s absolutely heart-wrenching, and I can imagine not everyone was able to hold back their emotions in court for that and other aspects of this case. Hope the jurors and extended family are coping as best they can these days. Life can be really hard, I suppose we can only do whatever we can to make time for things that feed our souls and make us happy, hopefully while lifting others up as we do so. Definitely not an unpopular opinion. Anyone who disagrees has issues. Anyone who commits a crime, especially a heinous crime should get the death penalty. No life (which is 15 years to life), no life without parole, just death. If people have no fear of jail than why would they care to commit the type of crimes. Many people don't care because they have three meals and a cot for free, education, and more resources then our homeless people. It's disgusting. Taxes going to criminals, and new identity that's paid for how hypocritical is that?
@@yannialicia6529 jails are horrible, dirty, violent places where many people dont even get edible food. Especially for-profit prisons. Often people are being tortured more there than they are receiving the death penalty. You gotta think of the nature of the crime, too. Smoking or buying weed is a crime that people are jailed for. Addiction is essentially a crime, & it's only poor people who go to jail for it. The rich rarely go to jail or prison for a significant amount of time, for anything.
Plus there are so many innocent people on death row that were exonerated after the fact -- Look up The Innocence Project. Most of the exonerated are unfortunately poor Black people, like 14-year old George Stinney 😔😔. The US just gets its wrong more often than not; our justice system is broken. I dont trust it to make the right choice on who dies. Imo there are better ways to get resorative justice, teach others not to commit crime, & to make a community + survivors of the crime safer, than killing a person. Why not make them give back to the community in some way, while in jail? Not just sit there & take taxpayer dollars, as you say. And really it's the wardens & executives getting the benefits of the dollars, not the prisoners. The prisoners have to sit in their own shit all day.

My friend is dating a 18 year old and she got pretty defensive when me and another friend said that its illegal and that her bf is a crimminal.
An 18 year old isn't a minor. It isn't the same thing as being 12. So...if you're 21 and dating an 18 years old...it wouldn't be frowned upon by the public.

The way that Jacob's last words fucking ripped my heart apart. Im an older sister myself and my little brother and sister are my entire pride and joy. She didn't deserve to be in that family. My heart hurts so much, I just wish someone could've swooped in and saved him and told him everything would've been alright. That poor baby didn't deserve that. The fact that she said the sudden personality change "came out of nowhere" i was really skeptical. Later in the video tho she said the girl went to catholic school. Now i know not all catholic schools are the same, but when i went, we got beat, constantly told we were going to hell of we didnt dress a certain way, got oogled (and sometimes touched) once a week by the leaders, and vehemently denied anything related to mental illness. And she went a few years before i did, when there was even less scrutiny against them. What she did was horrible and im not negating that. But the parents seemed genuinely kinda neglectful. 11 year olds are crafty but they arent smart.

He might have been worried about kidnapping charges. That said, I think her being into the goth scene might have played in to how she was convinced? Not that goth culture is bad, but it's really big into death. If the first story they both told is true, that she stabbed her brother and then realised what she'd actually just done, it may be that she didn't ACTUALLY understand "death" and that they were really killing her family for real. To a child goth, death is just "cool" and loving death is "rebellious". To older teens and adults, generally, its about appreciating the beauty in death and the end and acceptance and stuff, but to children it's more broad strokes and big picture "death iz kool and dark and evil" and I really do think it's easy for a child who thinks that way to think the idea of murder is hella cool, but not actually GET IT.
I think it's sad what she did, but I don't think she deserves prison for the rest of her life. That's not condusive. Prison should be for people who are an actual danger to society. I don't think Jasmine is. She should be on probation her whole life, and should have to check in with a therapist every month. She should have certain privileges denied to her.

We would cook/bake together, watch 5 minute crafts, do our nails, and she would go over to her neighbor friends house while I stayed behind and played with the family cat. When she came back, I'd ask her what they did and she'd say they played spa or something. Willingly hanging out with a child when you aren't babysitting or related to them is weird as hell. You have nothing in common (and shouldn't, really!)

I understand that that the police allowed them to write letters back and forth to hopefully get more evidence against them, but it honesty just baffles me that no one actually tried to stop a relationship between a 13 year old and a 24 year old while they were incarcerated. I feel like a no contact should have been put in place as that relationship was completely inappropriate.
Actually once her parents found out that she was dating Jeremy they did everything to keep him away but she still found ways to be with him. The fact that she wanted to go into the foster care system is disturbing because she was lucky to have a loving and dedicated family compared to those in the system who have parents who abused and were traumatized. She is sick and evil.

Minors don’t have the brain development to truly grasp the consequences of their actions. As the adult, he “boyfriend” (*cough* abuser *cough*) should have stopped her. If she was an adult and felt like she wanted to live with her boyfriend, say 18, she could’ve made the dumb decision to move out instead of killing her family. Like in her 13 year old mind, killing them was the only option. Which is why she didn’t get life; she wasn’t and was not able to be in the right mind. She was engaging in shit she had no business being apart of because she was 12-13 years old.
Her parents should’ve been more involved from the beginning (a drastic change in appearance is a red flag) and called the police on this MAN who requests child porn from a child.
Personally, I really think that she was a victim as well. She was being groomed by a guy twice her age, she was just barely going through puberty, and she allowed herself to be manipulated by this guy. So I think her sentencing was enough, it also gave her the chance to get therapy and realize that Jeremy was just a creep and a predator.
Alot of people say age isn't an excuse, and in some cases that's right. (people like James Charles for instance) any allegations that came out about him came out when he was an adult. 18+, so the 'he was young' excuse doesn't really work for him.
but people like jasmine, she was still in middle (and in some places 7th grade is actually still considered elementary school). I think she just loved the idea that an older guy was into her, and would do anything to keep him.

Jeremy was second degree cousins to me. I never met or knew him or any of his family. I still remember my aunt and her family having police stationed with them the days following this massacre because they weren't sure if her and her boyfriend would seek out other family members.

Apparently what they’ve been up to; Jeremy changed his name in prison. Her friend Kacy was actually charged with obstruction and got one year of house arrest as part of a plea. Jasmine has been to university. Jasmine was in a psychiatric hospital for four years before going to university. Then she spent four more years under supervision while she was at college. That was in a different town so she’s probably still there.
If anyone was wondering what they were up to those are the most recent events. I’m not sure why she didn’t include them in the video. ^^;;;

As a Canadian citizen, I grew up being told this case. I was 4 when it happened but probably 9 when I was told/heard about it. my opinion changed a lot since then even after being taught about Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) in grade 9. I do like the YCJA but I think jasmine should have been charged as an adult. I understand she was groomed and was probably gaslighted. but that doesn't change my thoughts and opinions.

This makes me sick. Jeremy and Jasmine acting all lovey covey when she was only 12 and murdering her parents and sweet little brother because she was groomed by a disgusting man. Gosh this is so heartbreaking and so disgusting

This case is what took my rosy colored glasses off. I was 15. My mom was watching her many true crime shows and I just happened to pop in on this one. She held me as I sobbed. The brother is what got me. Stilllll gets me to this day. I still say a little prayer/sweet thoughts/vibes/light and energy to their souls.

Yes, she should have gotten life. She had the idea and made sure it was followed through. While I realize she was a victim of his being that he was grooming her, he became her victim in her horrible murder plan. He wouldn't have killed them if she hadn't pushed for it. Just my opinion of course.

@Tatum McKenzie the fact that he bragged to an undercover cop after already "confessing" that he thought what he did was wrong means that he wasn't the victim. He played a victim to seem sympathetic. That's what pedophiles do.
@Tatum McKenzie in what way is he a victim? he is an adult with a fully developed brain and he has the ability to tell right between wrong. On top of that, he showed no remorse for his actions and was only worried about protecting himself. I don’t see how he’s a victim in this situation.

She was certainly groomed but she's not a "poor girl." Most victims of grooming attempt to run away with their groomer, or fight for their right to stay with them, not kill their parents & little brother. She's a monster I have no sympathy for.

It’s crazy to hear this story still being told! I lived here when this happened and things have never been the same. A family did buy the Richardson house and lives there now, but I agree they should have definitely burned it down.

I have recently seen another video about this case but decided to watch yours anyway because I had a feeling I would learn information that was not in the previous video I saw and sure enough I was right. What I really like about your videos is the research you put into finding out about the life of the victims and who they were as individuals. It's a nice show of compassion and its why you and Kendall rae are my favorite channels to watch for this kind of stuff because you take the time to put focus on the victims instead of just covering the facts of the incident

I'm an older sister to 3 siblings, and while they get on my last nerve alot of the time, I would never ever even think of doing such a horrible thing. I love my siblings alot and I hate it when people hurt them or their feelings, so I can't even imagine doing something so cruel myself. She's not only a horrible person but also a horrible child and horrible sister. Her duty as his sister was to protect him no matter what and she killed him instead.

What happened to this family is SO heartbreaking...I just wanna cry. That poor little boy holding a light saber to protect himself and saying he was too young to die BROKE MY HEART!! Such horrible people omgoodness....I am so sorry for this family and all the other families out there who have been through something similar.

This shit happens all the time. I remember when I was like 14/15 I used to date men in their mid 20s. It's like they know who to target (vulnerable victims of abuse and other stuff) I remember thinking it was so normal at the time (because i was mature for my age) but now I realize how much trauma those relationships caused me.

The fact that people continue to communicate with men who date teenage girls instead of shunning them is appalling to me. She deserved it. She got to be alone in the house where her now dead family were in and she was alone with their bodies. In the book written about this case called Runaway Devil she called a cab to take her to Jeremy’s home. The taxi cab responder described they received a call from a girl that sounded distressed & was whimpering.

"she got another shot at life." Nonsense! As if she even deserved it. The ppl she killed won't get another shot at life, they did not deserve to be killed. not one bit.
The fact that her brother said "I'm scared, I'm to young to die" broke my heart. Overall, Jasmine was not deserving of a another shot at life. I think she should have stayed in prison for more than just 10 years regardless of her age.
Her parents actually cared about her and tried to help, and the little brother… I don’t know how she did that. I have a younger brother myself so that part hit really close to home, absolutely heartbreaking.
Jasmine and I were born in the same year, I'm glad I didn't use social media or email during that age 😅,, what a depressing story 😔 but I like it bc it brings awareness to parents to really monitor your children and who they are talking to.
She should've gotten a lot more time in prison. Knowing well or not, she brought up the idea of murdering her family, Jeremy just agreed. If they would've never met, she probably would've done it herself because sure he brought a little bit of fuel to the fire, but Jasmine still got into many fights with her parents and got angry with them quite frequently. All I know is in my opinion, Jasmine being free currently does not sit right with me after what she did to that poor young boy. Rest In Peace.

@@idk-gy8ds the thing about it is, she didn't go "OMG, I hate my parents so much, let's run away together," like most young people who are in a relationship with someone their parents don't approve of say, she actually came up with, orchestrated & followed through with a plan to brutally murder her family. I don't doubt that she (& her groomer) would've ended up killing even if they hadn't met each other. She was already showing too much interest in the opposite sex at such a young age, eventually she would be engaging in some activities that her parents would disappove of & she'd have a different reason to kill them.

I live in Medicine Hat, born and raised. I’m the same age as Jeremy and met him a handful of times (it’s a small city and you tend to have connections to.. everyone). He was very much a lost soul, would go from one friend group to another, from one school to another until he dropped out altogether. For a while he tried fitting in with the jocks, the punks, the druggies, and eventually scraped the bottom of the barrel and got deep into the occult group. He was that way for years before he met Jasmine. I didn’t know him very well, but I did know his sister, and I still feel sorry for her too. And that poor Richardson family. As far as I’m aware, the Richardson house is still empty. I’ve always had a gut feeling that he never would have hurt anyone if he hadn’t gotten wrapped up in that relationship with Jasmine.
Found out about this case on instagram and got hooked. I’m 26; I remember being 12 vividly. I knew right from wrong 100%. She deserved at least the 25 years Jeremy qualified for.
i have a younger stepbrother, he’s 5, and i’ve known him for a year. i barely see him, maybe once a month IF THAT, i can’t even stomach the thought of doing something like that. it’s horrific

What a messed up story.
The beginning of Jasmine's descent into becoming a soulless husk reminded me of myself at age 11. Something was going wrong in my head, we had moved recently and I was homeschooled in a religious fundamentalist family and I was in the throes of puberty.. I was talking to adult men on aol instant messenger lying about my age. Feeling oh so oppressed. Would pretty much do anything for a boy who paid attention to me. I'm so glad my parents figured it out AND watched as I typed up an apology email to these strange men telling them my actual age, then they moved the family computer into the kitchen.
It doesn't sound like Jasmine's parents were even particularly strict. For 11/12 years old it sounds like she had more freedoms than many kids with "strict" parents.
Honestly a trait in teenagers I feel like you have to watch out for is *how far from their own morals and principals* they will go for other people (friends or love interests). That isn't loyalty, that is having zero self-esteem.
There's no way those older men did not suspect that you were younger than you were saying as well. I'm really glad nothing really sinister happened to you but I'm sure this had an effect on you, so I'm sorry you went through that. And agreed, people who don't consider themselves worthy will often do anything for just an ounce of validation and it's really sad.

as an older sister listening to the description of jacobs death hurt so much. i can't possibly imagine allowing that to happen to any of my siblings, let alone trying to kill them myself. especially over a boy, but i'm an adult with an adult brain, i want to feel bad for her for being a victim of grooming, but it sounds like she did a lot of the legwork... frustrating that she's free.

I hate to say this, but a lot of men will not speak up or do anything if they see one of their friends doing something like that. There are some men that would cut him off, but I suspect his friends didn't care because she did "consent" & he "wasn't hurting her" or "age is just a number" or something along those lines, especially since she looked older than she actually was. Men often excuse, enable or turn a blind eye to the disgusting, predatory behavior of other men because they think it would be too much hassle or drama to speak up.

It is very likely Jasmine was sexually abused, and that this is why she radically changed both her appearance and behavior in such a short time. It's very common for victims of sexual assault to try to change everything about themselves because they think it will deter future attacks. Becoming promiscuous is another usual response in the aftermath of a sexual assault. For some girls (and women), this makes them feel in control temporarily - i.e. if they initiate sexual encounters, they won't be forced upon them. Puberty doesn't explain much about her behavior at all. Jasmine's level of rage also speaks to having been traumatized. Not saying there weren't other factors in the culmination of this whole grisly tale, I'm betting there were. Sigh, what a terrible story. Thank you :^)

idk if you guys have ever met 12 year old girls, but sometimes they do just act like that. esp if jasmine was a good kid from a good family, its not unlikely that she felt bored, trapped, or limited. she could have even just wanted to see what would happen if she started pushing the limits that her parents had set for her.
