This richly illustrated talk will assess how what Anne calls the ‘Four Paths to Union with the Divine Ground’ (ie Hinduism, Buddhism, Daoism and Christianity) have assisted or impeded the recognition of the sacredness of the Earth and our role on this planet. We will look at the shadow aspect of these paths, including their ‘Up and Out’ cosmology and show how some have conditioned us to regard nature as inferior to spirit, and to consider ourselves to be ‘above’ nature and separate from the life of the planet. I have just watched this and been blown away by the clarity of Anne Baring's grasp of the spiritual and cultural development of human society from pre-history to now, how we have arrived in the current situation of destruction of ourselves and our habitat and the internal, philosophical and cultural change we need to embody to bring us back from the brink. She is describing the move from communal to individual, from male/female equality to male dominance, from peace to war, from the lived experience of being part of the sacred whole (nature) to the alienation of the mind-body split and explosion of technology. It dovetails with Iain McGilchrist's thesis about the dominance of the linear left brain in contemporary society. Both brilliant. Thank you.

I'm so very glad to have stumbled on your channel today in the middle of the premiere of this talk. As you say, what a wonderful distillation of key truths and teachings. Such a delight to hear reference to so many of my favourite mystics and teachers, and to learn of new ones. I will certainly be watching this video again and taking notes. Although enjoyable, I must say I was surprised (and a little horrified) to hear in the "Scientific and Medical" network, after a discussion all about the 'solar' domination model, to hear the speaker repeat, uncritically and without any seeming examination, the dominators' narrative about the 'pandemic'. Looking at real world data from the last 3 years, I thought there would be mention at least of the hegemony's current destruction of populations, definitely not a feminine or balanced strategy.

I'm thinking the "new story" we're "awakening to" is quite schizoid - on the one hand, the beauty and thrills of investigations into what used to be termed 'paranormal'; on the other, a quite grotesque horror tale unfolding on the world stage ... what a world!
