Thanks for the information. My first thought was this might be the answer for tow cables, so I'm interested in how it might react to copper as well. Philip

See the pinned comment at top of the page...I did an experiment with copper.

I have an old set of Panther tracks from Friulmodel and I would like to use them again but It's very difficult to get rid of the enamel weathering products I used. I 've tried a lot of products such as MrHobby Cleaner, all kinds of thinner and paint remover but man that thing is tough ! If someone has a technique please share It and Rick, I think a video "howt to use his metal tracks again" would be great 👍

Been using this on my PE and love it. Do you also rinse the PE like the tracks afterwards?

Byran, not necessarily do I wash the PE, but it's probably a good routine to get into just so that the paint sticks better.

Great demo Rick. A question - I have a couple of sets of copper plated tracks from R-Model, and they look great, but I am not sure how to treat them before painting, or even if I need to.
I think burnishing fluid would destroy them, so I haven’t even tried it. Any thoughts on this? Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺!

I'm not familiar with copper plated tracks. The metal tracks that I have run across are usually white metal (pewter-ish) and the fluid works great on those...as well as brass. I haven't experimented with copper and so I really can't give any advice. Perhaps others will chime in?

Thanks Rick, maybe I just need to prime them with metal primer. I will search on YT for an answer. Thanks again mate!

Thanks Rick. I will give it a try on some spare track links and let you know how it turns out.

Yup. Also if you burnish tracks before assembly, you avoid the problem of super glue preventing the burnishing fluid from reacting with the metal

True and a good point, but I've never found the need to superglue the pins. I use .2 brass wire which provides enough friction for the wire to say in place, then burnish everything once assembled.

Thanks for the info. Looks great.
If only assembling the tracks was as easy! 😉

I don't mind the metal tracks. Using stiff wire (.20) makes it easier in my opinion. Thanks for watching.
