I pray your garlic does well and harvest is even better than expected. I hope you have enough to possibly sell in case mine don't do well. The garlic in stores are mostly grown in China and is watered with swamp water!! We've been instructed to buy only Organic Garlic. So i'm gonna go out there after watching this completely and plant a few of my small organic cloves and cover them.
Someone bought me that garlic grown in china but processed in USA. I'm planting it only to regrow what I've planted this year. It should be safe to eat after two years of replanting. Meanwhile I'm planting organic as well.
I do not ever buy any food from china. I check carefully to make sure. As a matter of fact I try not to buy anything made in china. I will do without if possible. But never food products.

I’m in Texas in between zone 8b/9a and I plant hard neck. But I order early and as soon as I get it I wrap it up to keep it dry and place it in my fridge for cold stratification. This is the first time I've planted garlic. Since my garden is so small I bought a 3 pack of organic garlic. I presoaked my garlic to start sprouting it.I saw that on another channel. I separated the cloves, leaving the roots attached. I've mulched mine with bedding staw. It's growing well, so far anyway. I only planted the largest, prettiest cloves.
I'm in 9, am I too late to plant? I have to do in containers. Do you peel the, garlic or just break the cloves and plant them? Can you use store bought garlic to plant?
@@gretchenarrant8334 Never too late in zone 9. I planted garlic all winter long and the frost didn't even slow them down. Yes you can use garlic from the store. Dont peel them as they may dry out and die. Leave the husks on. You sprout the roots first in a warm spot and transplant them. You can plant them directly but the warmness will speed up the process. Good luck
I planted in October (Ohio zone 6), but my chickens got into the garden and not sure if there's any garlic that's still OK. So....I planted some store bought garlic YESTERDAY while it was 50°F. I have been concerned lately that I might not be able to get the things I want for replanting so I am trying to save my own. The saved seeds and bulbs are regrowing. The suppliers haven't been completely out yet, but the prices have gone up from the increased demand.
I've had the same experience - you order garlic and get sort of little bulbs with small cloves. All you do is, plant those, and then when you harvest the bulbs, you will pick the bulbs that seem to contain some bigger cloves, and then plant THOSE next time, etc. so you slowly work your way to getting bigger bulbs and cloves.

My husband and I have lived in the country forever in Texas. The coyotes were horrible in Texas but I'm finding that they're horrible everywhere because a few years ago we moved to Arkansas and just as many coyote problems here even though this is a very rural State and not a lot of City areas. We use a combination of several things every other night we put a radio on to talk radio so it sounds like someone's out in the barn with a light on. We put solar motion sensor lights out back of the barn so that it scares the coyotes when it comes on it helps. Our next step is to get a great pyrenees puppy because I'm going to start having milk goats. I do not leave my house without a side arm. Light doesn't always help because I watched him come up and take a cat off of a friends back porch at night with a light on. She watched the coyote, grab the cat off the porch ,through the glass door. Shotguns are very handy for 22s. I have a 22-410 over and under that it uses varmints. Usually not all the time but usually coyotes skunks raccoons things like that are nocturnal. If you see animals like that out in a day and they're kind of wobbly and not acting right be very wary best thing to do is to shoot them just in case. I'm not saying just go out and go crazy on all the small animals in your area because there is a food chain and it they are important for that food chain. I'm just saying protect yourself. Those of us are homesteading help to remember we live out amongst the animals. Here in Arkansas we have coyotes, black bears ,mountain lions, bobcats, skunks, weasels, porcupines, Badgers, and I don't know how many more predators. Yes be careful and department if you are not comfortable learning how to use a gun or carrying a gun keep a big stick with you or a shovel or something you can use. And when you're out and around make a lot of noise. Bless you guys. We got to stick together the government doesn't like it we're wanting to not depend on them anymore.
Uh-oh I planted in October. And we are zone 6. We've had more warmer than cooler days. I hope I didn't mess up! They are growing. I'm going to make a mental note of this and next year's plantings. Thank You all. Love Your videos, and precious tips!

Im in zone 6 also and planted in late october as well. I am somewhat worried as well. I see some shoots coming up. I based it off of our average last frost date. I think itll be ok because weve had a few frosts still at least here where im at. We will see! Hopefully yours will be ok too! 👍🏻

I love watching you guys. So funny and most importantly informative
The weather has been so unpredictable. I’m zone 7 NJ and usually plant in late Nov. but didn’t cus it has been warmer some days. I’m going to plant this weekend. I hope you crop does well.
Im in zone 6 also and planted in late october as well. I am somewhat worried as well. I see some shoots coming up. I based it off of our average last frost date. I think itll be ok because weve had a few frosts still at least here where im at. We will see! Hopefully yours will be ok too! 👍🏻
I fantasize about living on a Homestead 💚
