I have recently learned to crochet, but cannot read a pattern. I have a twisted blood vessel in the side of my brain that causes me to just mess up on so much. Recently I became unemployed and my sweet husband works two jobs. I have felt really bad about this, and wanted to make something special for him. I sat for two days drawing a graph and was going to do him a graphghan blanket. Nothing I did looked right I just got so frustrated I wanted to cry. I know that I don't have to do anything for him to know how special he is to me and how much I thank him for all he does, but I still wanted to and decided to get on here and look for something- anything to do, your video was the first to come up, and it was perfect, he loves the Harlequin. I am so glad I did not give up, and cannot wait to get this done for him, I watched your video and my brain understood it all, and I already have several made. Thank you!!!
Please hang in there and don't give up. I have been crocheting for many years. It is very therapeutic. I also have issues reading patterns and learning in general.. I can suggest look up a lot of different TH-cams. And there are a lot of different ways to learn how to learn. Some teach differently and hopefully one will be the one you need. I wish you the best of luck..@@barbaradonald4182
I love everything that you do!! You taught me to crochet a little over 2 years ago and I am now making and selling items. I have always been a sewer, quilter and blanket maker. Qrochet has been a wonderful addition to advancing my talents. love you Sharon Wright Weeks
Bella, I love your videos. There's no five minute waffle at the beginning before any demonstration begins, there's no distracting background patterns nor noises, you make sure the camera angle is good and you make it all so straightforward! I always look for your tutorials when I want to attempt something new. Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much! I was trying for 2 straight days following other peoples tutorials and completely failed... this was so simple and so easy to understand. You are a great teacher thank you!
Thank u very much! There is no tutorial for the Jacket from howls moving castle, so I search all the Videos I need to put it all together at the end 😂❤ You helped me a lot and u explained it very well 🫶🏻❤️
Hello, just recently learnt to crochet off TH-cam, & I would like to say..." I love watching your clips, they are very easy for me to understand & look forward to new projects. Always knew how to knit but couldn't crochet. So thanks again for being informative during your clips. Xo...Steph from Australia
Hi my name is Chelsea, I don't normally comment on videos but I have to say that I haven learnt so much about crochet since watching your videos they are so easy to follow and really useful and the actual makes themselves are brilliant! So keep posting please because you are brilliant! :D x
Omg I was only meant to watch 😂😂 Diamond #4 started lol Thank You Thank You!! You have the patience of a saint, your a brilliant teacher and I also love the crochet-along, I find many video's/tutorials are quite rushed or they talk to fast and I'm left lost, yours are literally stitch by stitch with clear audio and visual, I honestly cant thank you enough, I love crochet again - yay!
Hi, You make it look so easy, Thank you for taking the time to share these tutorials, it is great to see an expert at work. I will try this. Many Thanks, Barbara
Hey! your tutorials are amazing and so easy to follow! If i hadn't come across your channel, I would have given up on trying to learn how to crochet altogether! It's so great to finally see someone do really easy to follow tutorials for once! Thanks!
I got to row 4 before I realized I was split stitch crocheting and you’re supposed to do the full stitch. Got confused when she said to not go in the gaps... I took it too literally hahaha. One diamond successfully completed!! Great instructional video, you should put this on skill share!!
love this! Looking for blankies to make for my baby girl who will be born in three months time! I am definitely gonna make this one for her! it would look so amazing in her room!! Oh and have to say I know use stylecraft yarn on your recommendation! Their baby wool is so soft, and such good value!!
Hello Sara-Jayne and followers. I am using this pattern to make a blanket that looks similar to the Vaserely one, which gives away the impression of 3d cubes. I have a question though... Is there a right side and wrong side? I am struggling to see difference. Love, love your tutorials Sarah-Jayne!! You taught me so much! Thank you !!!!
When you started decreasing, I began to follow along, when I realized I had messed up I took my whole triangle apart and started from the beginning, both times I ended up with 12 stitches on the decrease row when you were already at 4 stitches. While I decrease one side, may I have been adding another on the end? I don't understand your decrease pattern):
I was losing my mojo 😁 at a stressful time I couldn't concentrate 🙆 I wanted to be crocheting 😔 also this video has helped ,its a easy pattern to pick up again . Thank you 😘
If you are like me and you wondered, What is the basic pattern for the whole blanket (how many corners, half diamonds, etc.), I just googled "diamond harlequin pattern" and then printed a grid. I made a sample diamond and measured it to get my finished blanket. If that isn't big enough for you, just make bigger diamonds, but keep the pattern the same.
Ignore my comment! I was able to figure out that you were crocheting the last two stitches together on the decrease, not crocheting the last stick and chain together. Each row I was still working with one more than what you had. ((: it worked well this time!
I was wondering if this pattern could be used to make a shawl? By the way I love your videos, I hadn't crocheted in about five years. I was browsing TH-cam and saw your granny squares for beginners video and made my first ever granny square. I've been crocheting since I was about 8 and I'm 42 now. THANK YOU!
Hey Sarah Jane!! Love your videos. I have used your sunburst square pattern for a toddler poncho and have made around 10 infinty scarves. You are awesome. For this diamond pattern blanket, how many yards total of yarn did you use?
Pam May Hi, sounds great. I don't really count how much I'm using to be honest because i'm always replenishing what I have used and I do many projects at once lol x
Love this so much. You have taught me how to crochet and I thank you! Now how do I know that my diamonds are going to be the same size. I used two different yarns and I’m new enough I didn’t realize this would make the diamonds a bit different in size. Any suggestions?
You're welcome - I'm so glad to have helped! I would try blocking the diamonds that are smaller to hopefully bring them to the same size as the larger ones. To do this you just need to stretch them and pin them out 😊
Hi I'm wanting to make this for my teenage daughter to use on a single bed how many balls of yarn do you think I'd need? BTW I love your channel to great to finally find someone who has tutorials with UK terminology!!!!
Thank you, I'm glad you like it! 😊 To work this out I would work a small swatch in the yarn and hook you are planning to use - if you make a fairly decent size such as 10x10 inches you can measure this and also weigh it, and use it to work out how much yarn you need for the size you want
Thank you, I'm happy to hear you've found it helpful 😊 Even if you use the same hook size and yarn it can be difficult to say what size as we all have different tension.
Awesome! I will try it. My granddaughter is wanting a princess " fluffy" blanket, with pinks and purple. Is there somewhere I can print the instructions for the Harlequin Diamond?
On the increase we are making treble crochet stitches so we chain 3 to bring us to the correct height of that stitch. On the decreases we are crocheting 2 trebles together, so we only chain 2 as that is a shorter stitch 🙂
Lara Price I'm sure you can appreciate its hard to find a speed to suit everyone. This particular tutorial is for people with some crochet experience already x
Charlotte Rose Haha no! In the UK these are trebles, in the US they are doubles. This is why I put the 'difference in terms' in at the beginning of the video! why they are different I do not know! It makes it very confusing lol x
hi your link to part 2 didn't work for me went to this one instead th-cam.com/video/oKAAogcGINY/w-d-xo.html but thanks for vid it looks good will deffo try
Maybe it’s just habit but you really don’t need to give instructions on how to do every stitch every time; it’s kind of annoying. There are videos on how to do stitches.

Hai, Bella Coco , i admire ur patience of explaining all stitches in detail step by step , good job & thank U for the vedio , God Bless :-):-):-):-)
I can have this playing & keep going without looking, that's why I need the "yarn over" comment! It lets me keep my rhythm- thanks!!!
My granddaughter loved her blanket. Gave it to her tonight.
I'm so glad that she did :)

Wow what a beautiful blanket and you explain the stitches so well. Thank you so much. This is my next project x

In almost 40 years, I have never crocheted a diamond. This pattern looks like a lot of fun to make.

Could this diamond be done in single crochet and a larger size, I was thinking of doing a rug? Thank you

Can this be applied to knitting a cardigan also? 😳
Just stunning as always BC/SJ!!

+Janice Klemo Hi, I have just mended the broke link for the blog post. x
May I just ask....
Which border did you do or which one would you recommend????
Thank you for the tutorial!!
No problem 😊
I was wondering if the Harlequin Diamond Blanket would look ok using a bulky yarn like Bernat Baby Blanket Yarn? What are your thoughts?
+Janice Klemo Oooo i think it would look lovely :)
Hi, great tutorial. how large can i make it?
Love this.
Carla Smith Thanks :) x
U need ure own tv show
Lakeria Spencer Haha, Could you imagine! lol x
I would like to know how to saw the Diamonds together for vasarely Blanket please.
Kindly add a tutorial to join these diamond pieces
is there anyway to print the instructions?
next video cannot be seen:( and I dont know how to join..can you help me?
Can I know how many square I need to make for the blankets and how many square to make for the bedsheets
Zainab Abdullah hello, sorry i can't answer questions on individual sizes x
All your things are beautiful.9
Dear Sarah-Jayne... Is it me or is it really hard to join the diamonds together. I am having such a hard time. It does not look neat...
Can you let us know the color names you use for this Harlequin blanket?
+Luanne Roeder Fondant, wisteria, clematis and cream xx
How would i join diamond shape motifs.
What type of yarn ?
This is exactly what I have been looking for
My brain wants to know why we chain 3 building up the rows and chain only 2 on the other side decreasing
On the increase we are making treble crochet stitches so we chain 3 to bring us to the correct height of that stitch. On the decreases we are crocheting 2 trebles together, so we only chain 2 as that is a shorter stitch 🙂
very fine :)
Harley quinn birds of prey blanket!
