A very pretty makeup application, Elise. Eye shadow, custom blended blush and lip color are all just pitch perfect! Also - I love the Snirty words 😊 Fave fall memories for me are intricate Halloween costumes. I have pulled off a believable “Elvira” look and a fun Tinkerbelle. Even more fun were the times friends or family asked me to help them with their makeup, one girlfriend wanted to be “Mimi” from the Drew Carey Show. Best of all was doing my husband up as the proverbial “Devil in a Blue Dress”. That one was priceless. New on my makeup scene are lip liners from both Anastasia and Makeup by Mario. Both are well formulated for aging lips. Particularly stunning for me is the new Fenty pro luminous (and a buncha other words) foundation for us dry skin ladies. I am testing some now to dial in the shade. It is really lovely and wears well. I did pick up the Lawless gloss you recommended and love the formula. I wish their line had more warm shades, or rather that Sephora carried those. I am finishing up an IPL treatment series for my rosacea and could not be more pleased. It is without doubt, the most effective thing I have found, not to mention all of the other benefits. It has certainly made foundation both less necessary and easier to apply. I only wish insurance covered such things. Stay cozy and take care!
Hi, Cheryl--Wow--would love to have seen the amazing Halloween makeup you did for your friends and your husband. I'm especially intrigued by the Tinkerbelle look. I hope you have some great photos of these looks. So glad you're also enjoying the Lawless gloss. I'll definitely have to check out that Fenty Foundation. (And why do they put so many words into the names of products? It's baffling since there's no way any of remember them!) How wonderful that the IPL treatment has helped with your rosacea. There are unfortunately so many really helpful things that insurance doesn't cover--my can't-do-without orthotics being one of them!
Beautiful look as always Elise. So many nice products. I made a nice Fall basket arrangement for my hall table using a combination of artificial, dried and fresh plant material from the garden. I love it each time I walk by. 😊 thanks for sharing the link to make pumpkins.
Hi, Mary Rose--Your fall basket arrangement sounds absolutely lovely. Isn't it wonderful to have something that makes you smile when you walk by it? If you make one of those beautiful pumpkins, you'll have to send us a photo!
Hi--Thank you. I was just talking to my stylist about highlights, but apparently they're tricky to do on ash brown hair since red and blonde just don't work well. I just went a bit lighter on my last visit and I think you're right that it looks better. Thanks so much for your good input.
Thank you for this fun and beautiful fall look. I love to go to pumpkin patches. Even though my guys are grown, it’s so fun to walk through the myriad of pumpkins. 🎃
Hi, Paula--Ys--here's just something about seeing all that beautiful sea ofbright orange in a field that can't help but make us smile. Thanks so much for sharing.
Lovely looks as always! I’ve lived in south central Texas for more than 40 years and I still miss the fall colors of the Midwest. I’ve attached a beautiful poem that resonates with my nostalgic feeling for fall. “I like spring, but it is too young. I like summer, but it is too proud. So I like best of all autumn, because its leaves are a little yellow, its tone mellower, its colors richer, and it is tinged a little with sorrow and a premonition of death. Its golden richness speaks not of the innocence of spring, nor of the power of summer, but of the mellowness and kindly wisdom of approaching age. It knows the limitations of life and is content. From a knowledge of those limitations and its richness of experience emerges a symphony of colors, richer than all, its green speaking of life and strength, its orange speaking of golden content and its purple of resignation and death.” - Lin Yutang
Oh my gosh, Christy, this poem brought tears to my eyes. It's so very lovely and poignant. Thanks so very much for sharing it. We lived in a suburb of Tucson for 8 years and would always try to get up to the highest mountain in the area this time of year to experience a bit of chill in the air and at least yellow leaves, but it wasn't quite the same as crunching throgh a variety of beautifully colored fall leaves in the Midwest.
Hi Elise. I enjoy a hay ride through a pumpkin patch and the aroma of anything with pumpkin ! I also enjoyed this video and your explanation of fall makeup trends. A bit off topic but can you recommend a brush that works well with cream eye shadows? ❤
Hi, Marti--Ahh, yes--a hayride through a pumpkin patch--and the aroma of anything pumpkin--sounds devine! As far as brushes for cream eyeshadow go--I recommend synthetic brushes since natural hair brushes can soak up liquid and creams too much and produce either sheer or streaky results (and creams tend to necessitate washing often, and synthetics can take the extra washing easily). A flat, synthetic brush is great for all-over lid application; a fluffy, dome-shaped brush is great for diffusing crease color and applying creams to the brow bone; and a dome-shaped, denser brush is excellent for depositing pigmented color into the crease. Hope this helps.
I love that Color Pop palette!! Autumn, for some reason, has always been my favorite time of year ...maybe just the fact that it was the start of the school year and that meant a pair of shoes (yes, we were that poor) for the year, and new clothes. Also I liked school. Tomorrow I'm flying to Alberta to stay with my son and his family for 2 weeks (keeping his wife company while he's away on a course...they have 3 little kids and a 4th on the way so it's a bit overwhelming for her). Which means I can't decorate my place until just before Halloween. And speaking of discontinued favorite products: my favorite skin cleanser, by Clarins, which was the skin milk with Alpine Herbs (it was a soft green color) was discontinued a few years back. I bought as many bottles as I could from sites that sell off discontinued products but they couldn't last. It has the most amazing scent, and I was crazy about it. I don't like what they replaced that with so I don't buy it and I've never found anything I like as well to replace it. It was like aromatherapy every time I used it. I have about a third left of the final bottle so I'm parsing it out slowly by using other cleansers but they're all pretty "meh"..... Our Thanksgiving in Canada is coming up this weekend. I know ours in the US (I'm American and Canadian btw) isn't until a month before Christmas....tbh I prefer having Thanksgiving a bit earlier! Anyway Happy Thanksgiving from up here!! (PS: the interior of BC where I grew up, is an absolutely perfect example of "snirt"....for months and months! What a great word!)
Hi, Johanna--I also fondly remember the clothes shopping trips before school. One or two new items were the limit! Wow, have things changed. I do feel your pain with that discontinued product that sounds absolutely wonderful--especially since it has such a wonderful scent. I'll have to buy a few more of the L'Oreal Age Perfect lip liners since that whole line is being discontinued. Such a shame since it's one of the very few lines specifically for older women. How fortunate your daughter-in-law is to have your help and how lovely you are to do it. And how fortunate you are to have dual citizenship. I've had so many wonderful trips to several different areas of Canada and have wonderful memories. Happy Thanksgiving.
@@EliseMarquamJahns Speaking of Age Perfect: I went to get some of the Age Perfect products that I'd been planning to get for a while, but hadn't done yet, and I could not find those products ANYWHERE here! I thought at first that maybe some places were just not carrying those anymore, since that happens, but I didn't realise until you said so, that the whole line is being discontinued. I loved those lipsticks. (I think it was the lipliners actually, because I have one lipliner that I swear by, but that is so hard to obtain, I was looking for a replacement). Now THAT'S out of the question. Oy Vey.
Hi Elise! Your finished look is gorgeous as always. Did you like the foundation after you wore it awhile? It looks beautiful. Between you & Sharalee, I feel like I need to give this brand a try. I love that palette from SG. I’ve thought of purchasing it many times but it’s still on the back burner. I used to participate in a lot of Fall activities, many that you mentioned. Now I just am happy to ride up into the mountains, which are about an hour’s drive, and admire the beautiful landscape and foliage. The mountains always make me hungry so my friend and I stop at this little country store and get a fried bologna sandwich. They don’t taste that good at home.😂 I can just see you laughing right now!😂 We used to visit an apple orchard but there are different people running it now and it’s not the same. Thanks for aiding me in a walk down memory lane! And, thanks for this wonderful video. Have a blessed day and wonderful weekend. ❤ I missed last weeks video. Because of the hurricane my internet was out. Fortunately that was all for me but it was tragic and terrible for lots of folks around me. I’m in E TN and we had a lot of flooding, power & water outages, etc. Apparently the infrastructure in our county is not up to par. Authorities informed us on Friday that the dam in our county wasn’t going to withstand the force of the water and issued an evacuation order. Bridges washed away, some were impassable, but by the grace of God the dam held. One man lost his life while attempting to rescue someone stranded. It was definitely a scary time and one that I hope never repeats itself. Sorry Elise, you probably didn’t want to read all that and I didn’t intend to write it either. It just came pouring out and I couldn’t stop my little fingers!😂 I guess I just needed to let it out. Lucky you!😂❤❤
Hi, Lisa--Yes, that foundation did wear beautifully through the day. I think you'd enjoy it. Fried bologna--oh my gosh--I've never tried that but it sounds really good. Lisa, what a frightening dreadful time that must have been. Who knew that a hurricane that hit Florida would have such disastrous results so far north in North Carolina and Tennesse. My best friend has a condo in Naples which is apparently O.K., but they were still cleaning up from Hurricane Ian since repairs take a very long time because there's always a shortage of laborers and materials after a hurricane. No matter where we are, I guess, climate change will impact us. We've had severe hail storms and then drought up until this past spring. And I just heard some friends saying that there are major research projects going on at the U. of Minnesota about what crops will need to change in the outlying farm areas due to climate change. I've joked that Minnesota may become a holiday sun belt destination some day!
