    Good work there Jim. Plus at the end you gave other options we use for removing damaged/broken shafts.
    I'm alway cautious on the amount of heat I use on the carbon crowned clubs as I've seem images of those tops popping off...the blame always falls on the club builder! I wrap the head in a damp towel to cover myself, even though, like you, I use as little heat as possible to get the job done :-)

    This video reinforces why I quit repairing broken golf clubs a few years back and just take to repair shops like McGolf

    Why not just get a new adapter with the new shaft on the Callaway driver, seems much simpler? (pardon my ignorance, maybe those adapters are super expensive?)

  • @scotthucks7966

    Just one question. On the Callaway head, why didn't you just unscrew the screw on bottom and take out adapter? Wouldn't the adapter with the shaft part come out together without all the heating and drilling? Thanks.

    Awesome vid Jim.. recently subscribed to your channel and everything I have seen so far has reinforced my confidence as I work on my own clubs and perform club repairs. I have a question in regards to hosel depths on irons. Is it normal to see varying depths throughout a set? I noticed the 3 iron hosel depth on my TM Tour Preferred CB’s is deeper than the other clubs in the set. Thanks!

    • @McGolf
      @McGolf  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not usually, however a shallow hosel can allow for a slightly flight

    What would you do for iron with a sterl shaft that is broken right at the top of the hosel ?. Nothing to grab ?. Drill ? Easy out extractors ?..

      Easy outs are the best option

    Did you buy or make the edging on the side of your work bench that helps support clubs. I’m only a hobbiest but the number of times I have clubs falling this world be a great time saver.

      Got it from Lowe’s, it’s support material for the wavey roofing

    Awesome videos! I’m a new subscriber and a new club builder and I had a question. How do you find the correct length when reshafting an iron? Do you just keep cutting small amounts on the new shaft while mocking it up in the head? Or is there a “time saver” way? Keep up the good work!! Thank you.

    • @McGolf
      @McGolf  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Length is found during finding the flex. after the head is on the shaft measure the length you need and cut

    Hi Jim. I find the new callaway adaptors (original epic and newer) to have very fragile paint. Even a little bit of heat and the paint (and the numbers) flake off. Also find the same from TM from M5/6 and newer. Do you find this true as well? And if yes, any tips? Thank you :D

    • @McGolf
      @McGolf  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No they can take heat about 40 to 50 sec and should remove easy. Outside of that then yes it can get dicey

  • @dbdors

    Do you find that some callaway adapters turn brown when you heat them? Or the paint/finish chips?

    • @McGolf
      @McGolf  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you get it too hot it will boil or change color

    Neutral bend point of shaft at top or bottom?

    • @McGolf
      @McGolf  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      if its neutral, I'm thinking its more towards the middle. I say that becasue bend points can be measured from the tip or from the butt, It depends on the company. however, I would say more towards the tip

    Like the videos, but drop the music, my sound is up to hear what you say while working, and the music is really loud and annoying.
