Wow that's really cool I never saw the different Lanes before.. what ah awesome idea. Not entirely sure how to integrate the final cuts but I'll probably figure it out.....
The cutting and pasting? Yeah that used to be really simple but since Cubase 14 it’s no longer possible the way I did it before. I’ll have to look into that.
@alicebyno Yeah, that's it 👍 Ok thanx 👍 Hopefully you'll find an even better way in 14 🙂 Anyway, it would be very interesting to watch your approach to this 🙂
Hey alice ! Great tutorial. Kindly do make a video showing how to setup tracks for bgs, harmony and other vocal tracks. Would be helpful for us singers.❤
Please I have been trying to record with Cubase 13 but when a record, the vocal is always delayed from the beat. It record offline, or if a record from Cubase 5 and send it there for mixing it will sound offline. Please can you help me fix this problem? Thank you
Hi! In Studio Setup > Audio System make sure the correct driver is selected. Maybe also check if you need to update your driver. If that doesn't fix it you can click on 'advanced options' in Audio System and adjust for record latency. You can experiment with the amount of record shift. When you import from Cubase 5 make sure the sample rates of your audio and project match. And check if the audio files aren't set to 'musical', because then they might incorrectly adjust to the bpm of your project.
This helped a lot tnx. I’m a new user and very unacquainted with how to navigate myself. For example : 1. How do I listen to my mixed vocals before exporting it through studio monitors. I know how to monitor through headphones but I just can’t monitor on studio monitors before exporting it. 2. Say I’m recording vocals and I get tired, how do I continue recording without destroying the old one? Cuz I mess up anytime I try doing so. please help me out and tnx
The first one is not easy to answer without knowing your setup. If you use an interface it should be as simple as choosing your monitors instead of your headphones. For the recording you can just hit stop and record again on the same track (it will create a new lane) or mute the old one and record on a new track.
@@alicebyno that was a very swift response tnx a lot. With regards to my settings, I use the focusrite 2i2 3rd gen interface. My outut has input 1 and input 2 but I can’t listen to my mixed recording on studio monitors unless I export it. You’re the best!
If everything is connected correctly it could be a routing issue. On my channel search for ‘no sound in Cubase’. That will take you to a video that goes over several things that could go wrong.
Hi! In that case connect 2 inputs in 'audio connections', then create 2 mono audio tracks and in the routing section of each of those tracks choose one of the inputs as input. And then click the record enable button on both tracks and hit record.
all that I need, is just to separate from audio, the vocals and piano, into midi, is there anything, that's accurate? maybe chord changes would help. I use Cubase 13 pro
Not sure if I get your exact question. To separate vocals and piano from a recording you can use Spectralayers. To turn the piano into midi you can use VariAudio.
Hi im not sure that you look at my comment but your video is really helpful for the starters like me. However, when I download the beat file from outside and I record on that beat, my voice becomes a whisper. Can you give me some tips to solve this problem...!! Thank you for the good video!
Hi! That could have several reasons. - Online beats are usually very loud, so start by turning that down in your DAW - If your mic is going straight into your interface it’s normal that it’s a little quiet. Use a compressor on your vocal to make it louder. If you want to know my vocal chain, watch this video: th-cam.com/video/PhmVv2hC6t0/w-d-xo.html
If you don’t hear your recording you might still have your monitor on, which is the orange button with the speaker icon. That should not be activated during playback.
I like your video. But when I record my vocal is not loud enough, my gain almost all the way up. What did I do wrong. I had Cubase 13 and UR22 mkII. What input db should I set to?
I probably had my mic go into my external compressor, which already makes the vocal louder before going into Cubase. If your mic is directly plugged into your interface a softer signal is normal. You can 'fix' that in Cubase by adding things like compression. If you want to see my complete vocal chain, you can check out this video: th-cam.com/video/PhmVv2hC6t0/w-d-xo.html
Hi! Learning a new DAW is always challenging, especially if it’s your first one. Depending on what your goal is I’d look up tutorials on the basics. Recording audio, recording midi, basic mixing etc. Personally I went to audio engineering school a long time ago, which made it easier to translate the basic principles from a hardware to a software environment. So if you really want to understand what you’re doing, an engineering course could definitely help.
Hmmm....I'm totally lost. From the start, you have one track...? When I start a new project, it seems to only give me a bunch of presets with at least two tracks. A Piano + Vocal or a Guitar + Vocal. I can't record anything. I was able to add the Focusrite USB ASIO to the Audio System...if that's even correct. I do use a Scarlett interface. But nowhere can I find my microphone, or a place to add it. I'm looking at Piano and Vocal, but they're all greyed out. There's no record option, except down on the bottom, but when I click that, the timer starts running, yet nothing is recorded when I talk or sing. I am terribly confused on where/how to even start. Sadly for me, this video didn't make a lick of sense. Suggestions from yourself or the peanut gallery, please?
Hi! When you launch Cubase, you should see the tab ‘more’ where you can choose an empty project to start with. The driver seems fine, always make sure it’s the latest one available for your interface. If setting up your mic input doesn’t work like I show in the video, it might be a driver issue though. Hard to say. The recording button is on the bottom indeed, you should however ‘arm’ the track you wish to record on, by clicking the red button next to the track name.
Check the gain setting on your interface, but also don’t turn it up too much. A thin waveform is quite normal if you don’t use a hardware compressor. Raise the level of the vocal by using compression in your DAW.
For vocal recording this setup has always been a drag tbh 😅 But I’ve always managed by not monitoring my vocals. More recently I switched to a zero latency interface though, because I started making videos of me recording vocals, which means I have to monitor the mic. It’s absolute bliss 😁
I personally haven’t had a real crash yet - not trying to jinx it 😂 - but I have experienced more glitches since upgrading to version 13 as well. Hope they work on that!
I just started using Cubase and I'm about to binge watch all your tutorials. This was perfect!
Awesome! Welcome to the Cubase gang 😉
Everything straight, no gimmics ❤

Thanx a lot for all your cubase content 👍
It would be much appreciated to watch you go through the process you're describing at 02:25 🙂

Best cubase channel - can we see some effects chains/mastering chain - big up
Hi! I did a video on quick & easy mastering th-cam.com/video/aMEZt_4F1Pk/w-d-xo.html But I can definitely expand on that in a later video!
This was very helpful. Thank you!
Great intro and advicd, thanks!❤
excellent work 👏👏

In the next episode of ‘Recording a Hook’ I’ll go deeper into vocal chains, but maybe a separate tutorial could be useful too. Thanks for the tip!
How to group Vocals ,Effects, master and master them using waves plugins or stock plugins.
Grouping is part of the mixing process. Mastering really only applies to your stereo out. So those are two separate things you’re talking about.

Hello Alice
Do you use Chords pads?
If you Have time
Thanks a lot for your Vidéos 👍
Hi! So far I haven’t personally used them, but they do seem fun to play around with.
Well done. Thanks. 😺
This helped a lot tnx. I’m a new user and very unacquainted with how to navigate myself. For example :

Hi! I think my video about my vocal chain might help you!
Thank alot ❤
Could you pls make video on Steinberg ixo12 tried all the possibilities no sound
I don’t have one of those, but maybe this video can help: th-cam.com/video/dCOMzAMslRs/w-d-xo.html
Nice voice
Thank you!
Tnx for the easy to follow gems 😎💎🥂

Thx for the tutorial. what if i want to record 2 channels simultaneously e.g. record guitar with 2 mics.

Thx!!! Very usefull video!!!) 👍
I'm on Cubase Elements 12, I've recorded an audio track using loops but I can't find a way to see my lanes :(
I don’t think Elements supports lanes.

How did you learn all these things?? I just got this Daw, I know nothing about anything...so overwhelmed, I dont even know where to begin

Hey nice job. What mic are you using? Thanks.
Thanks! I’m using a TLM 103
What does out puts and inputs mean?
Kinda depends on the context, but an input signal goes into your interface, DAW, plugin etc and an output signal is what comes out.
I can't get loud vocals, why??? And the Vocal Wave is too thin
Check the gain setting on your interface, but also don’t turn it up too much. A thin waveform is quite normal if you don’t use a hardware compressor. Raise the level of the vocal by using compression in your DAW.
@@alicebyno thanks for help
Nice! You enjoying Cubase 13?
For sure, it’s like 12 with some nice extras and a slicker look
your input and output latency is 26ms. how can you handle it?

That’s how tutorials should be. Less bla bla bla and more straight to the point.
Thanks!
100% agree!
😂😂😂😂 Les bla bla

“scare” 😂 That could be another song though 👀😅
