- Ball State Urban Planning and Architecture students presented their semester's findings connected to all the neighborhood revitalization work planned in the Old West End. Throughout the semester, the students have actively engaged with neighborhood residents and stakeholders, with the aim of producing essential research to address information gaps. Their work has supported the Muncie Land Bank and its partners in shaping a more comprehensive, well-planned, and innovative strategy for upcoming revitalization initiatives.
The Muncie Land Bank has begun its first ever comprehensive neighborhood redevelopment project in Muncie's historic Old West End neighborhood. In collaboration with the Old West End Neighborhood Association and non-profit housing developers, including PathStone Corporation, ecoREHAB, the Old West End Neighborhood Economic Redevelopment Corporation, and Intend Indiana, a multi-phase project is underway that aims to build or rehabilitate clusters of properties that the land bank recently acquired, stimulate small business growth, and create vibrant community spaces.
This project has been further supported by Ball State University’s College of Architecture and Planning, the City of Muncie, and the Delaware County Commissioners, whose resources and expertise amplify the project’s impact.
