Google Earth Led Us to Something Unexpected

- Last year, I was exploring the canyons on Google Earth, and noticed a very rocky butte, and when I took a closer look, I observed these shapes which looked like walls. It looked interesting, so we made the climb. When we climbed up there, we found something far more than we were expecting. #hiking #googleapps #googleearth #desertexploration #climbing #explore #ancientsites #archaeology #googlemaps #ancienthistory #ancientfinds #ancient
Please be respectful if visiting these sites:
Do not take anything
Leave everything where you find it
Do not bring pets into archeological sites
Do not touch or climb on the walls
Do not eat in the ruins
This is the way kids should get education.
Thank you for watching!
I want to thank your mother for being such a trooper and supporter. Young man, you did a fine job and I throughly enjoyed the history, petroglyphs, and through overview of this historic site. Thank you both,. Another mother:):)
Thank you so much!
The new David Attenborough
I love the documentary vibe to your videos and the clear explanation. Makes me feel like i was there. Youll go far. Keep up the good work.
Thank you! 🙂
Wonderful exploration with gorgeous footage. What an epic place.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks!
Another Very interesting video, my man! Thanks for taking us to places most of us will never get to see in person. Your aerial footage ties it all together very nicely with a birds eye view.
Keep On Truckin' Brother!
Thank you!
Muito legal este tipo de vídeos quando vejo arqueólogos cheios de conhecimentos com explicação mirabolantes um vídeo como o seu bem simples mostra muito mais que um especialista parabéns bom trabalho
Thank you very much, Gracias!
Cool channel taking us along on your studies. One change I would recommend is wearing snake gaiters or chaps. Getting bit by a "wiggle stick" is painful and expensive!
Thank you, yes they are out there.
Cutest Poodle Puppy on earth , cant get enough of Buddy , hug him kiss him squeeze him for us please. Also I believe that primitive man was looking for any edge he could get to survive maybe thrive. Like building rock walls wherever rocks were found in plenty, or inhabiting caves cliffs canyons gullies and creek bottoms trying to avoid tree lines ridges and open fields . Always fortifying always on guard . Only a handful of humans have stood where you frequent often , that should say something to you about the caliber of person you are. walk boldly where others fear to tread and use and enjoy all that offers up whether a better vantage of a view or a short cut to the top.
Thank you very much! We adopted Buddy when I was 7 and he has been my best friend since then. I am lucky to have him and also to see these places. 😊😊
@@deedee8736 Thank you very much! Yes, Buddy is a trooper.
Great video, thanks for sharing! That petroglyph could also be indicating the area where the Ancient people rounded up the game, hunting grounds?
Thank you for watching! Yes, good idea.
If, as you said, there are a number of these on peaks around the area, it leads me to think they were a communications link. From one to another they could send up dark smoke signals or light fires. This way people at long distances could be notified of travelers headed their way, or find out the progress of people leaving them and headed to a distant place. They could indicate from what the travelers were wearing/carrying, if they were known people, strangers, warriors, women & children, what animals accompanied them, even how quickly thy were moving, if they carried items or humans on travois or sleds. Visibility at a distance would be difficult. But people of a tribe would surely have had codes for signaling. --Enjoyed your program muchly.
Thank you very much, yes very much likely for easier communication.
Amazing explorations every time. Keep it up!
Thank you!
Really Beautiful, historic mapping!
Was it a castle in there🤠?
My favorite parts a you walking those ledges and boulders, and the drone footage.
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for watching! It feels like a castle when you are up there!
Great video
Thank you!
Perhaps a place where smoke signals could be a communication network
I love your channel. Keep up the good work. I want to learn more and more.
Thank you so much!
Que gran video ,te seguimos de mexico
Thank you for watching! Gracias!
The red sandstone must have been hauled up there? That would have been some work. Makes one wonder if these were built before or after the introduction of the horse.
Yes, definitely, that is a good point. The biggest source of sandstone for building is 1/2 mile away across a wash. Sandstone is easier to build from as you can shape it, and can make a nicer home. It seems to me that the structure which was semicircle used sandstone and that one could have been a kiva. A few other rooms were made entirely of red sandstone. Lots of work carrying those 500 feet up. And these are dated probably to be built before the horse.
@@ruinsandridges I tend to think that these fortresses were built to defend against the European invaders.
Genesis 6:4 (KJV): There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. Understand the size and weight of those stones a normal man can't move.
YOU are amazing young man and such an example to everyone. Your videos should be shown in schools. Stay safe and march on, Grammy in Utah
Thank you very much!
My favorite part was how you returned a little hope that the youth of today isn't completely lost.
Thank you for watching!

Hello there @Ruins & Ridges 👋🙂
I appreciate and enjoy vicariously exploring along with you. Altogether, great video. 👍
I am reminded of David Yetman upon viewing your presentation. Thank you for posting very interesting information on ancient sites.
Thank you very much!
Hey. At 4:00, you have it almost right. Flip it 1 time to the right, in the same place you think. This site is old. It's a defensive structure for sure. The Trek Planner has an App that puts the ruins back together with 3D imaging. Natives were hunted. They had to protect themselves somehow. Thank You for sharing with us 😊. These sites don't get the historical value that they should. Thank you for helping preserve history and for teaching respect. These sites can't be duplicated. There are all kinds of rock types there. How cool.
Thank you!
Thank you for sharing your adventures ❤
Thanks for watching!
How did they get water up there?
There are two washes on both sides of this butte. Right now these washes only run with water when it rains. So either it was more water there 1,000 years ago, or they had a way to catch water in little water holes or store a lot in pots, or they had a spring that they used somewhere.
I also really enjoy the peaceful sound of the wind.
Thank you for letting me know!

Thank you very much!
Enjoyed it all. You did an excellent job.
Thank you very much!
Very dangerous climbing on those rocks
Excellent!
Thank you!
Any information on which Culture built these walls and when??? Thanks!
Not sure, but it is located somewhat on the border of Patayan and Sinagua cultures, and it is cool because ruin is also split up between red sandstone which Sinagua normally used, and basalt, which was used by Patayan. Maybe built around 1,000 years ago, and abandoned before 1,300 as many of them were.
Well done!
Thank you!
How far did they have to transport those rocks to build those walls?Thank you love the video..
About half a mile away across a canyon is where the red sandstone that some of the walls are built out of is located. Thank you for watching!
you are one epic young man
Thank you!
Excellant.
Thank you!
Who or what can lift those boulders ? Sound waves by manipulation ?
Hey Bub, Have a cre when walking on placed stone from long ago. It can roll out and leave you in a hellofa wreck, and out o doors. Ask me how I know....
Looks like a gourd the many use to sustain life back then!?

That dog is going to get bit by a snake. I can already tell it's never been outside.
Buddy is outside on hikes maybe 200 days a year, and he has been outside on hikes in more than 10 states.
Those are my ancestors. Please leave them alone. Non of you will ever know what the markings stand for, 😢
