Back in 2020 I lived in town and raised meat birds on a friends lawn after watching Joel’s tutorials. Now in 2024 I live on a farm and raise pastured laying hens!
I am having trouble sourcing the two 48" x 14' corrugated aluminum required in the polyface designs book. What are everyone's thoughts on using a 26" x 12' corrugated polycarbonate roofing? I know it will require a little bit more bracing on the roof for the added seam but didn't know about temperature differences and weight differences. The specs for the polycarbonate roofing panels say they offers good thermal insulation and UV protection.
I got Joel’s book with the design for the shelter and just built my first broiler shelter! The thing that worries me the most is that I live in Panama and during the rainy season there are days when it looks like the sky is falling, super heavy rain. Does this design work in this scenario or do you recommend that I only use the shelter during the dry season? Also, we have a lot of snakes and they *love* preying on the broilers
It was time for a Polyface youtube channel, you will reap what you sowed, thousands of farming enthusiasts, godspeed!

This is great, glad to hear it. Thanks for sharing!
Can you put a video together of how y’all move them?
Stay tuned, there might be one on the way!
Love it so much!
