I am watching this while sitting next to my 40 year old wife of 17 years lose her battle with cancer. We are down to days after a 3 year battle. My advice, don't think because you're young the life you planned won't be be turned upside down in a blink of an eye.

There were times my boys would ask me to do things when they were young and I said no or was "too busy" with something else. They are all grown up and looking back, those “no’s” were the biggest regrets of my entire life. I would give ANYTHING to go back and take advantage of those moments that were lost forever. Take advantage of EVERY opportunity you can with your kids, Sebs!
Perfectly stated...my boys are 20 and 24, and I really don't know what happened to the time...there will always be time for the house projects and work.
Perfect advice. Time is fleeting and when you are young you really have no idea has fast time passes. Don’t miss the time with your children because that is one of the biggest regrets you will have.

Truer words were never spoken than these two small ones.... Don't Blink. I am 55, my oldest son is 35, my daughter is 29, and my youngest son will be 25 tomorrow (July 3rd). They all have children of their own now, and sometimes I find myself looking at them and wondering where the time went. Life is full of regrets, but we should never put ourselves in the position of regretting not spending enough time with our children. That job, or house, or car, bills will still be there tomorrow, but our kids are only young for a very brief amount of time. So take them to the park, or swimming, or read that story to them for the 500th time, just don't let that time slip by.

I'm 72. Soon 73. I wish to God I hadn't worried about making more money instead of taking more time with my family. I tried to be strong and keep things to myself and push harder and harder. I spent 20 years in the Navy and was gone for months at a time throughout my children's young lives. Life goes so fast and I missed so much, be there and be involved. Even when you don't want to go here or there to watch and support you children because you think you have something more important to do, you don't, go, be there.
Hi. My dad spent 26 years in the navy. He passed in 2020 from pancreatic cancer - he was only 50. I found a few emails and Facebook messages between him and a few of his friends detailing his diagnosis. They also expressed intense regret about having spent so much time away from me. I wish I could have told him (more than I had in the past) that I was never ever upset about him not physically being there because he called every day he could and wrote letters when he couldn’t. He showed up to every birthday except for one, he was deployed. He drove across the country to be there for my high school graduation and gift me my first car, a blue jeep wrangler just like I had been talking about almost every day since I got my learners permit.
My point is, I felt how much my dad loved me and I saw how hard he worked to provide for me. I only recently learned how truly strong and graceful he was. He was truly the kindest and most selfless soul. I know your children see this in you. Just have to step back, really try and notice how they’ve grown and how they’ve stayed the same, and give them room to be their (young?) adult selves. Being able to shoot the shit with your pops who you haven’t spent much time with is great lol.
This is the VERY reason i only served 5 in the Navy. I dont want to miss out on anything.
My daughter turn 21 this year and purchased the house we live in when she was born. Seems like that just happened. Enjoy each moment because before you know it they are all grown up and on their own, no matter how much you may sometimes not look forward to their practices, meetings or other school activities.........cherish them.... It does go by in a blink.
I hated becoming disabled before 27 however my relationship with my child flourished and at 21 now she still calls mom to help her, cuddle her, rub her head like I did when she was young, dry her tears and best of all laugh with her. My child is my best friend. So being physically disabled ruined my work life, but gave me a chance to see my daughter live her life and grow into a beautiful young woman. Where I was I watched other people’s adolescents grow and helped them and rarely saw my baby…. And yes the years have flown by. Great reaction Seb. I like your emotional reactions! You are a wise man who has a lot to say and sone may need those thoughts you give.

My wonderful mom is 82 now. She's shared a few worries that she had back when we were kids. 1. She worried that we regreted how poor we were. I didn't even know we were poor. She made us awesome toys that made our yard the cool place for the neighborhood to be. I got my lifelong love of nature from all the hiking my family did. So no, we weren't poor.
But also, when I was in sixth grade she gave us a choice for the summer- a vacation or a pass to the pool a block from our house. Made me feel grown up that she let us choose. I felt so lucky that we got to go to the pool that summer! So no, we weren't poor.
My mom spent hundreds of hours reading books to us. Every day after lunch. My grandma used to yell at her a bit because Mom didn't do the dishes right after lunch. Instead she read to us. That was more important to her. I don't know many parents who still take time to read to kids for an hour every day when the kids are six and seven. Love of reading put me light years ahead of kids at school. I think that love of reading was why I did so well in school.
So I applaud you putting your phone down. That is critical imo. You may be able to be on the phone while you are with your kids, but kids know. How will they feel worthy of love if you are multitasking when you are with them?? They know.
But being present with your family isn't free. I hope that you can be okay with not achieving as much as fast as you want in your job. There are only so many hours in the day.
You were rich not poor with that mom - I was lucky that my mom was a great mom (she is now passed sadly - 2 years ago from dementia. She was only in her 70s

This song is so true! My babies grew up so fast. I was a lucky mom as I got to stay home with them most of their years of growing up. Now my youngest is 26 and my oldest is 31. I loved having babies and small kids and miss it so much. Neither has had babies of their own yet but this woman is waiting.

This song came out when our first three of eight children were babies. The youngest of those three is about to graduate high school, the second born turned 20 yesterday and the oldest is married and will bring our first grandbaby into the world this summer. Advice: give your kids siblings. You’ll never regret having one more and it totally compounds the love. My husband says it’s a shame men have to hustle so hard right when their babies are growing up. Be present when you’re with them. Notice them. Appreciate the gift they are. Most of all, love their mama fiercely. They need you both. ❤

(67 yrs old here) Build family memories, you can lose all your belongings your home and I lost all my pictures of my brother and my family.They are all gone except one sister. However I still have my memories, like a box of jewels I take a memory out and hold it and look at it then relive the memory in my mind. I then reach for another memory, my brother and I on my Grandparents farm. We would take off after breakfast to the woods or/and river all day, mom would call us back with a triangle of metal she hit with a pipe. Great days, build memories with your kids, more valuable than anything other than Heavenly Father. Whew I am done now lol

As a mom I was always so excited for the next moment. I couldn’t wait to see my babies crawl and than walk and their first words but I forgot to enjoy the moment we were in. Now I look at them and they are running everywhere gaining so much independence and getting so big. I wish I would have really took each moment in more before looking forward to the next stage. It goes so fast
I am 68 years old and this song is SO true and perfect. My life has gone by in a flash! I have enjoyed so much, my parents, my kids, husband, incredible friends. I cherish them all. I have several friends that I have known for over 50 years, but I remember when we were 18 years old like it was yesterday!
8:31 I’m 55 and I lived in Florida since the 80’s. My parents live in NC and I didn’t get to see them much. Well, now Both are 87 and I moved closer to them about 6-7 yers ago. Was great to be around and help with stuff. 4 yrs ago I went blind, so now I can’t see them and can’t do things I missed. I “BLINKED” thinking that I had all the time in the world. This song is so true. I was blessed to have 5 son's, and bonus children totaled 8. All grown now. Overnight, I sat here thinking back of watching my oldest son dance around to a song when he was 3 and his little giggles and bright eyes and smiles. On Mother's day marks the 5th anniversary of his death. Dont ever blink.
I worked two and sometimes 3 jobs to provide for my family. I was able to give them everything they needed except a dad who was present.
45 year old dad of 1 here. He is 18, just graduated high school, and next month we're moving him into a dorm at a university 500+ miles from home. Life does indeed go faster than you think.
At 68 I can tell you that this song is so, so true. I can also tell you in my younger years I would have rolled my eyes at the thought. In a heartbeat your options become impossibilities. You begin to become invisible, dismissed as someone who couldn’t possibly understand anything. But hey, I worked long and hard, still love to listen to loud rock and roll, had experiences no one would believe. Grab life and make every minute count. Talk to someone older than you. Let them share what they have learned and more importantly what they enjoyed. Don’t wait. Someday it will be you.

It doesn’t end when your kids grow up. Quality time is way more important than how much time you spend with them.
I literally just returned from the hospital with my Dad in the ER. He was crushed between a trailer and a pickup.
He started farming at age 6 and spent the rest of his life doing it.
Now because of someone's momentary lack of judgement he will no longer be able to spend the rest of his days driving a tractor and striding through a field of wheat.
He's alive and I thank God for sparing him but that accident will end up killing him. His entire life was spun around his family and his special relationship with God and the land.

My dad worked 16 hour days often to provide for my family, he was there for us with hugs and love. We lost him in 1999 and he is still my #1 My hero. Your girls will feel the same about you. ❤
When I get together with my siblings (all of us are around 50), we talk about the best memories from our childhood. We spent a lot of time together as a family, just doing simple things. As my own kids were growing up, we'd talk in the car about their favorite memories. It's surprising that the things adults think are so important didn't really matter to them. Just be as present as you can! Let them know you love them. That's what matters.
From a 59 year old woman. I was a single mom of three daughters for most of their lives. They were 3yrs, 5yrs, and 11 yrs old at which time their father and I divorced. Much like you, I had to work a lot in order to make sure that I provided for them. There wasn't a lot of time to be involved with school programs or their hobbies. Times have changed so much now, it takes both parents working these days just to make ends meet. I regret missing so much when they were young but as a parent I did what I had to do for their mental and physical well-being. I gave them a good life and put them through college and we all have very good relationships with one another to this day. My advice to you is... Even if you can't be as involved as you would like to be in their day to day lives, make time to see them as much as possible and take a "family vacation" every year and make those memories and strengthen those bonds. I wish you the best, you and your wife both seem like very good people with good hearts and good morals. You will do just fine.
My mom is 80 and diagnosed with both cancer and Alzheimer's this month. Even at 80, it feels too soon. We are grateful for all the time we've had together that others weren't blessed with. But it is still too soon.
Hearing this at a stadium concert with 10’s of Thousands singing along is so powerful!! Hope you make it to a Kenny concert someday with your beautiful wife.

As a 35 year old father with 2 children (4 yr old daughter and 2 yr old son), I find that I’m grinding daily to be successful in my career and provide for a better life and future for my family. But, even I have to take a step back, think what matters most and force myself to go home 2 days a week earlier than usual to be with my family before bedtime. I’ve learned there’s emails that can be sent tomorrow, customers that can be called tomorrow, reports that can be worked tomorrow, etc and I can go home without getting everything done. I’m still successful and I’m actually operating at a higher level than I ever did because I’ve made this conscientious decision. You’re doing great, Sebs! Keep grinding, my brother.

I turned 61 last month, and my kids are both in their 30’s, now. My best memories are still being on the floor playing with them 30 some odd years ago, now. Trust me; when you get old it’ll be your relationships with your loved ones that count the most, so never put those on the back burner.
It does go by so fast. I miss the times when they were small. Now i have grandchildren & make sure i spend that time with them. Just love them. Let them know how much they mean to you.
They have actually done studies and your perception of time decreases as you age. I in my late 60s and weeks pass like days used to. The great John Prine wrote a song in his 20s that captures what many old people endure called "Hello in There". Definitely worth a reaction video.
As you get older, I am 58 with 5 grown children, and I realize that the things I thought were most important were not. What means the most to my kids is the time we spent with each of them. Our best memories were when money was tight and we went camping or something that didn't cost a dime. Just having fun and loving each other.
Going close to 40... I still feel in my 20s it flies SO fast it is unreal. There's so many things you want to do and before you know it years have past. Take it in as it happens and enjoy making memories because it truly goes faster than you think.
Cherish every moment with your children, I am 78 and we lost my oldest son 1 1/2 years ago , he was 53 and we recall so much of when he was little and all the wonderful times we had with him. We still have his wife and daughter but miss him so much.

This statement is so so true. I just turned 73 and I have a 9 yr. Old great grandson. I sit at night and think where did life go. When you are going through the years you never think about it. Especially with your children and grand children take your time think about while you are doing it will be gone before you know it. Sometimes it makes me cry how time has gone. I love my girls and my grandson's and my great grandson so much. I remember when they were little and I miss those years. this statement is so true. i miss when my kids were little. my son is 17 and going to be a senior in high school. my Daughter is almost 12. Just make sure you spend as much time with your kids and the people around you cause you never know when the last time you will get to see them.
Read to your little ones, tuck them in at night and always smile and hug them in the morning and at bedtime and tell them you love them every chance you get. As a 66 year young women, my oldest grandson just turned 22 and he has always been my special boy,. He and his brother, 17 and little sister 7 beg me to come over and hang out. Family has always been my priority. Both my daughters are my best friends but make no mistake, I am always a mom. I miss tucking them in and reading to them, going for drives and singing harmonies to their favorite songs. Don't blink, it goes way, way too fast. But the memories are still here and I wouldn't trade them for anything. And, they will always remember their mother's love.

I’ve heard people say that the days are long, but the years are short. It’s so true. In those really hard days, I do wish I’d tried to relax and live in the moment more. Next week my hubby and I celebrate 28 years. Our babies are 24, 25 and 27. The years flew by in the blink of an eye for sure.

I've been a big fan of Kenny since I heard Me and You. Seen him 3 times in concert and you get there early so you can tailgate in the parking lot. The last show I went to there was a beach on a long flat bed trailer, pool included. 😊

I've been married almost 49 years. We raised our 3 bios, and 1 adopted, children and have 13 grandchildren.
I do my best to go to every event, ball games, school plays, etc . . . Because, i testify those memories are what we take with us through the veil. What we learn from our kids and grandies. They are all we live for. Their success is ours. I remember when my babies were tiny, and thinking i didn't know how id make it, ( my husband was career military and overseas), but i taped the kids and sent him messages. I sent him books, he would read them into a cassette player and send them to the kids, so he could read to them at bedtime. Life moves fast. My oldest children are starting 40s! Don't Blink!

The best advice I heard while raising kids came from comedienne, Phyllis Diller. Even though most of her comic material was about being a slob, she was actually a neat freak, and would spend hours and hours cleaning the house perfectly. One day, her kids asked if they could go to the beach. She was about to say, "No, I need to clean the house" when it occurred to her that once the kids were grown and looking back at their childhood, they wouldn't remember the house looking perfect, but they would probably remember a fun day at the beach. The cleaning waited for another day.
As a parent one of the most powerful and sad things I heard was that we remember the firsts but not the last....the last time you picked up your child, the last time they called you mommy or daddy instead of mom or dad, the last time you put a bandaid on their knee, the last time you read them a bedtime story, etc.

I have no horse in this race with age turn 22 in 2 weeks, but I end 5 years in the marine corpse in less then 9 months and this has hit me as the don’t blink moment I remember like yesterday being a fresh boot and making life long friendships that I now haft to come to the realization that I might never see these guys again. It’s almost unreal how fast these 5 years went now I watch as slowly my boys get out and spread them selves all over the US😢
The struggle is real and you're just so busy just holding responsibilities down that taking that time to connect is so important. I promise it speeds up , then it's just passed and it's gone. make those memories, they are priceless
I was blessed with the best Grandma in the world. She didn't have a lot but would give the back off her back if you needed it worse. As I look back, I wish I had taken my kids to spend more time with her. It's not everyone who gets to know their great grandparents. I wish my kids would have had the opportunity. Great reaction! Yes it does go fast, sometimes it feels like I was 27 and took a nap while the babies rested, woke up with 8 grand children. A lot a years flew by, deaths, marriages, births...
You only have 17 birthdays, Christmases, Easter egg hunts, etc till they leave for school or on their own and tears your heart out to see them go… don’t even miss one, they are numbered. This song used to make me cry when my kids were babies and now they are 19 and 20. My 20 year old moved 2 hours away and my 19 year is still at home. So this song hits harder now. Husband and I had to work opposite shifts because we couldn't afford daycare. I had to take the overnight shift because my husband made a bulk of the money at his job. So when they were little I didn't get a lot of sleep and I just couldn't wait untill they started school so I could get sleep during the day. Man, I wish I could go back to those sleepless days and enjoyed them more. Don't get me wrong, I love enjoying time with my adult kids, but I wished away their childhoods.😢

My dad died at 56yrs old & the memories I hold dear are the little things, not the material crap. I remember him coming to every school function, helping with homework, playing with me, teaching me how to drive, & so many more. He was always there, even if he worked a double shift with no sleep.
Being the only daughter of three kids, I was definitely Daddy's little girl. I spent as much time as I could with him but he died fifteen years ago. After his death I heard this song but it took me several years before I could listen to it again...I racked my brain thinking of times that I blinked...luckily there weren't many but it still bothers me. I'm 59 now and terminally ill...not married and no kids. But I try to find something every single day that becomes a happy memory....usually it's making people laugh because if they are, so am I. This song can hit you hard but it's a priceless message.
I've been blessed with a marriage that has lasted almost 50 years. I met my husband when I was 14 and we married 4 years later. By the Grace of God we raised 4 children, have been blessed with 10 grandchildren and are now awaiting the birth of our 4th great grandchild.

I remember telling my baby girl (she’s 46) that once they start school times flies by. Her two girls just graduated college and high school this year. She’s remembering my words years and years ago. I am 76 and I have no clue how I got here so fast. Really! Don’t blink!
Wait til your babies are grow. They come to your house. You hear them come in the door and hollar, Dad, mom I'm here. You see them comin in, and you see them as that little girl she used to be. Then she's grown again! Don't blink.

My oldest turns 18 in August , I also have a 14yr old son and a 13yr old daughter . I sit and think sometimes about how I wish I could go back 5 or 6 years and relieve it. I miss how they used to follow me everywhere, pick me flowers etc. I cry sometimes thinking about how in the next 5 years my house will be so quiet.
Cherish every moment that you have with those that you love. Being here on this earth isn't promised. Life is fragile. Don't miss out on the memories that you can have with your loved ones.
For as absentee as dad was, I remember that when I was young (8 through teens), we had a ritual that i went with him to pick up a movie from the local rental place and I got to pick out the snack for movie night. Silly little thing, but I hold that memory close. Give each of your children a tiny ritual that's theirs. they'll remember it forever.

I'm 55 years old and it seems like yesterday when I finally graduated high school. Kids are grown and have babies of their own. I married my perfect match 3 1/2 years ago only to get slapped in the face a year later finding out that she has ALS which is a terminal disease with an average of 3-5 years mortality after symptom onset. We stood at the alter and said our vows on October 20 2019 and today she can't move any part of her body, eats with a feeding tube and breathes with the assistance of a bi-pap machine 24-7. It doesn't even seem like I had time to blink. This life does go by faster than you think. Love deep, love strong and love daily. You never know when your time is up.
I can tell you that if you wait for the perfect moment to do something you’ll spend your life waiting for perfection that doesn’t exist.
