- This former holiday camp likely dates from the early 1970s, with the site formerly being a Zoo in the grounds of Comyn Hill Manor House. The Zoo operated from 1949-1973 & once housed Cheetahs Bears Leopards Lions and Sea Lions along with many other animals and was set in 8 acres of pleasure grounds.
interesting!! thanks for this!!
so why has this place been left, what is the real history? Whats the future for this place?
Used to live on site here. Ask away
Isn't that Fowlers and not Golden Coast? It's the place by the comp, isn't it? Or am I getting confused?
Golden Coast is the official title before closure www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g191252-d4186936-Reviews-Golden_Coast_Holiday_Park-Ilfracombe_Devon_England.html
@@sandpit72 Fair enough. I always assumed both sides of the road were the same holiday park, but maybe they were seperate companies? Golden Coast makes me think of the one in Woolacombe.
what a shame !
