@@aaronclay4665 "AAA" Games do cost more, and have for a long time. Back in the 90s and early 2000s, you could get an ENTIRE, COMPLETE, big budget game for 50-60 bucks. But now, if you want everything a "AAA" game will offer, its at least $100, if not closer to $200 with all the ultra mega deluxe editions, battle passes, and DLC. And that's before any microtransactions they're nearly guaranteed to have. And those prices have only gone up over the last 20 years.
The entire reason the "AAA" companies are trying to offer more BS "features" like early access now is because their sales are obviously slipping. They're getting desperate, and need to find more ways to keep their sales numbers up to appease their shareholders. But they can't simply decrease the price, because that would also piss off their shareholders. They've reached the end of their infinite growth ropes, and they have nowhere else to go.
Meanwhile, Indie games have stayed basically the same price this entire time. The games that are still made by less than 100 people, with no massive investment firms looming over them, are still charging the same amount for their products that they have for the last 40 years. And they're doing just fine. So no, games clearly don't need be more expensive. That's just another lie the "AAA" companies tell to justify what basically amounts to theft.
BTW FF14 has early access as well but at no additional cost, only pre-order for $40 TOTAL. The entire expansion + early access with nothing missed for 40 dollars. Hell I'm 80% sure that the biggest reason there is an early access at all is for a census and buffer period to help deal with server stress, though it never is enough help lol
This and probably, players who preorder take time off or would play on launch regardless, while players who just buy on or after release would probably wait for the next weekend to play or after their holidays etc. Early access is basically the real launch for everyone who cant wait and want to play instantly while the "real launch" is just for casuals/family people, who would wait to buy and play anyways. And its still the same price.
FF14 is also weeaboo trash, with not much to offer gameplay wise. If I wanted a good story I'd read book or watch a movie

That's the good thing or less shit thing about it, all you need is whatever edition you get.
I remember Endwalker being pretty fine once you log in, there was just a massive queue after the 3 day period.
he needed to lay down after that
Good thing the titan brain editor renamed that other video back to "the store within"
In the chat - Yomiminah: "FF14 does it too with expansions." (0:49)
Well... not exactly, it is a pre order bonus. and not depending on which "Edition" you bought. as there is only 3 editions. Regular, Digital Collectors and Physical Collectors.
All get a few days early access if they preorder. the only real difference is some ingame items for Digital, and ofc some physical stuff for the IRL collectors edition.
the early access is most likely to not flood the servers all on the same day.
Now, is this good? eehh... No. Id prefer everyone to get access to the game at the same time.
Is it AS bad as "Fork out 40 USD more to get early access"? No, its not even in the same plane of existance.
I'm pretty sure that you can buy the expansion during that early access period and still get access to it. I think it's just called early access for marketing sakes.
im switching to FF
Was just about to bring this up, beat me to it. Yeah the way Square does it is a lot less agregoues. If you just pre order the standard edition, you can still get the early access, earring and Zidane minion, I'm excited!
@@Ilynnarisyeah, a pr stunt and maybe to justify an eventual issue with the game, like some emergency maintenance: "it's early access, will work fine upon release"
@@shrimp7988Naw FFXIV have prepared for this via the Endwalker issues. They're ready.
Damn. FFXIV just wants you to buy it early for the access.
Endwalker had 3 days Early Access. Not to mention FF14 has far more Shop Transmogs than WoW and the housing system is very FOMO/scummy.
@@VDA19It had early access the same way dawntrail has. It was a pre order bonus with no extra cost.
Also, wow tokens are way worse than any amount of transmogs lol.
The housing is not fomo lol. If you’re playing the game you keep the house. If you don’t use it for too long you don’t. And they e-mail you ahead of time to let you know if it’s getting close to being demolished. It’s definitely not anywhere as scummy as what blizzard does lol.
@@VDA19 It's not early access in the way this is so thats extremely disengenious. So long as you pre-order any edition you get "early access" which means the only way not to get it is to wait 4 days and buy it on the "official" release day. It's also far cheaper on every edition and even the subscription gives you an option to pay less with limited character slots. And don't bring the cash shop bullshit into it. FF14 is the only MMO I know where you can't access it from in the game client. And as others have said WoW tokens put just about every MMO to shame, even a lot of korean games.
@@omegaxtrigun The fact that you can stop playing for a bit and you lose the house is pure FOMO lol
@@VDA19 I mean that's to enshure the housing market is "reserved" for active players. Also (private) houses are ENTIRELY optional in FF14, with abolutely no benefit from having one, except for "look at me, i have a house". Guild houses are a different thing though, but then again it's enough that only one guild member has to enter the house once a month to prevent destruction.
Also... what's wrong with FF14's glamours (transmorgs)? No one is forced to buy any glamours and you can literally use any non-shop item to glamour aswell.
Or are you offended that FF14 has more glamours than WoW, in that case why?
Btw. WoW's transmorgs cost on averare almost twice as much as FF14's glamours.... so yeah... be offended that FF14 offers more and costs less... just like the expansion packs XD
you know blizzard messed up when you have Asmond walking fast with energy.
Wow, even FF14 Dawntrail Standard Edition comes with early access. Superior companies don't gatekeep their player base with $40 ransoms.
He gets mad and then still plays there Games 😵💫 if People would stop playing These bs Blizzard Games they had to Change something but if these idiots keep playing and keep buying Stuff from the Store then why the f would they change anything?
So it’s your own fault if you Support these Companys
Are you mad that your bills are too high? Just don't pay them. You don't like bills so you would have no problem with that but these people probably love this game and don't want to see it man handled anymore by this terrible company
He still plays coz it's his job 😂
@@jmw10891nice analogy.. comparing bills that are required otherwise they will turn off your power, to willingly buying into shitty games lmao, how stupid can you get. The answer is very. Aint nobody give a fk about modern wow
@@jmw10891 That analogy made no sense to be honest. Games are an optional hobby not affecting your ability to live and there are MULTIPLE gaming studios plus indie developers to choose from. Bills are mandatory directly affecting your ability to live while not having the same options available. Thus, people can easily CHOOSE to not play trash games from Blizzard and go support their biggest competition in order to make any sort of change. If they truly don't want "to see it man handled anymore by this terrible company" THEN STOP PLAYING IT. Simple logic.
@@jmw10891 That's the dumbest take in the long history of dumb takes.
meanwhile FFXIV for 40$ you get early access
for 50$ you get the digital collectors edition, though i feel like they keep them low on purpose because you still need a sub to play
yes but you also need a subscription still for WOW as well.
Doesn't matter of it's $10 or $40. Charging more money to play early is so unbelievably scummy. Have never seen a scummier way to milk a fanbase that that
@@nurplepain3636 In EU its 34,99€ for preorder and thats the same price it will have if you'll buy it after release outside of any sales. Early access is basically a preorder bonus, nothing more in FFXIV.
I can understand the blizzard one (which I don't agree with btw and find BS) where they said that the early access "won't give any advantages" other than hitting max level and the gearing will be locked till the first reset which is 2 days after the launch like every other expansion (and there was a huge discussion on it last November BTW), however the reason it is a bit understandable that it is an online game where you can actually access stuff before other players that you will see and interact with, however Ubisoft is doing that with single player story mode game, which doesn't make sense. They started doing that with D4 and almost everyone was on board.
Also, Lost Ark did the exact same thing back in 2022 and no one talked about it...
yeaaa good thing FFXIV will have a expansion going during this time
This is why I stick with FFXIV where the early access is simply by pre-ordering
You can pre-order FF14 Dawntail base edition for 40 bucks and get it early access.
Asmons personal editor guy is a goat, please continue to comment on his videos like this
Hey guys, just hear to say that to play FF14 expansions in early access, all you have to do is preorder(even just a few minutes before the early access period starts). Thought some of you might want to hear that.
It was so bad, that it made Asmon take his headphones off and walk out. Now that's rare
He might've even had to touch grass and water his flowers.
Blizzard: Yes we broke him. 😅
As an auto shop owner with insane overhead, people have no idea the insane inflation. I’m not talking about the price of eggs doubling, it’s well beyond that. I don’t even know what to charge without being too much while also staying in business, we’re dealing with play money.
I think most people are well aware of higher costs as they see it themselves, the problem is calling it just "inflation" really is besides the point, their is a reasons for price increases that goes beyond the usual excuses, and I think more people are catching on. I don't blame the game companies necessary for the cost increases, but their are certainly some in the chain that is the economy who are having a laugh by milking it.
@@diablosv36 even at a 4 million player base all buying just the base expansion still = $200 million dont kid yourself they didnt spend more then 20 mil on war with in. AOC for EG has a 30 million budget and its made in UE5.
its because people dont understand what inflation is. its the devaluing of the american dollar. its worth less today than it did just 20 years ago, which is why prices go up. at the end of the day yes you are playing with monopoly money because the government just keeps printing cash they cant back. you can thank mostly democrats for how bad inflation with their "stimulus checks", essentially making the dollar practically worthless.
@@diablosv36It is all so much more bigger than that.
My guy went down stairs to scream at dystopianism.
So what if you just wait, does the first option go away?
These companies are just trying to outdo each other in terms of who can get the most money from their customers lol

I remember going to the store, purchasing a cassette tape or cartridge, going home, turning my C64 or Spectrum ZX or Atari, or later NES, Megadrive/Genesis, Super Nintendo etc on and never having to worry about anything else. The 80's and early 90's were such a cleaner time to grow up, in all aspects.
90/00 games were the best. Nowdays everything is just a money machine.
Although I’m aware that situation hasn’t fully been fully resolved: the Helldivers 2 community showed that players *can* influence the corps.
Ubisoft is bad, Blizzard is just worse
