After watching this video I fell in love with mangaves. :Thank you Cassidy, During the fall UC Davis hosts two plant sales open to the public at the Arboretum Teaching Nursery. The second sale was yesterday. My mission was to begin my mangave collection. I came home with a number of different mangave plants that are absolutely lovely. I recommended this sale to any plant lover. The succulent collection was impressive. Prices were reasonable to begin with. With an added 20% off I couldn't resist spending a little more than I had planned.
The video that I’ve been looking for! I’ve always been curious about how mangave will do in our desert climate. This wants me want to get one. Thanks! 😊 Hmm. I wonder if it can tolerate freeze, though. 🤔
Yes! I have a "Purple People Eater" and a "Bloodspot" which have survived outside for 2 years now. Just bought a "Red Wing" and "Silver Fox" from MountainCrest. I love Mangaves. I haven't dared subject mine to full sun yet (they get morning sun only), but it's good to know I might be able to!

Most Mangaves can handle temperatures down to zone 9a (20° F | -6.7° C), but they won't survive a hard frost.
