    You should paint the headliner black, especially if your planning on not tinting the windows. It makes the interior look 10x better

    Amazing progress so far, Johnathan. I am quite looking forward to when the rear fender arches are being cut and the 1M wide arches are installed.

    When the 1M’s first came out, there was the little old lady that bought one, she had to be one of the first ones with it. It was that burnt orange color (sorry, don’t know the factory color name) and I thought that the was coolest thing. I would see her ripping around town all the time in it. Haven’t seen her in a while, but hope she’s ok.
    This build series has been great and I agree with the headlights. Some factory stuff just looks better. Maybe you’ll think about painting the hood next 🫣 lol.. but yea, man.. you’re knocking this out. Many blessings on a smooth build.

      Yeah after having the carbon hood for a week I’m leaning towards painting it. I think the oem approach will just look much better

    Great stuff Jonathan, love watching your videos and the progress. As far as i know the 1M have an additional small radiator same as the 335is that goes on the driver side and not a dual oil coolers.

  • @maxa7665
    @maxa7665 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Interesting build! My dream is to build something like an "3M" from a 335is. Similar car as the 1M but in a 3 series body which means basically M steering, handling etc. from M3 but still keeping the n54 engine just like in the 1M. I also prefer the more simpler look of a 335is compared to the M3 so I wouldnt make any exterior mods to make it look like an M3 but to handle and feel similar while having the n54.

  • @kaymdoc

    May have missed this - but curious - are you planning to use Jay Meadows flares for the rear or OEM quarters ? I’m in the middle of sorting through my 1M clone build.
    Also, what headlight washer reservoir are you using if you're not using the headlight washers? Is the second pump plugged or did you get one without the headlight washer pump?

      Well, there will be a few things I do that aren’t oem, but mostly because of costs. Some of the oem parts for the 1m are just insanely expensive and hard to justify. But the advantage to NOT having a true 1m allows me to have a bit more fun with it.

    What supports the bottom half of the rear bumper ? …. I don’t have a diffuser / crash bar yet but the bottom half seems like it moves a lot for me ? Is this because there’s also no arch liners in or something ?

    • @ThicWhips
      @ThicWhips  ปีที่แล้ว

      Same as base model rear assembly, there are brackets on left and right that clip into bottom of quarter panels and allow bumper to secure. On bottom, there are wheel arches (plastic) as well as lower splash guards and diffuser. That’s how it is from factory. No problems

    • @anrs3153
      @anrs3153 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ThicWhips I’ll have another look, thank you for the reply, the only thing standard had over the 1m is like a undertray that bolted from the middle of the diffuser to the boot floor which secured the mid section, where as the 1m bumper will have the exhaust there, I just don’t know what will secure the mid section that’s moving unless the diffuser (when I get it) stiffens it a little bit more
