For a kid game, Toy Story 3 is really fun! Im a 28 year old dad and I really enjoyed my time with this game. The graphics are very faithful to the movie and the soundtrack is just awesome! I didn't encountered any screen tearing or framerate issues, just a couple of glitches, but nothing major (PS3 version). Some of the puzzles are pretty cool and the level design varies from different parts of the movie. The only down for me was sometimes the camera gets really annoying and makes you frustated, and the lenght of the main story levels. There are only 7 levels total + 1 boss level, you can easily beat the game in 3-4 hours. But thats when the Toy Box option shines! The toy box is an open world portion of the game (not as big as in GTA, but pretty good for a kid game), with dozens and dozens of mini and major missions to accomplish, cars to buy (there are cool races with animals such as horses and dragons), you can build buildings and customize them, and much more to do! You can clearly see that the producers spent way more time with the Toy Box than with the main story levels. I think I spent around 5-6 hours in the Toy Box and Im not even close to be done. So, is thisngme worth it? Yes! It is. We all need a break from shooting, killing and exploding from time to time right?! I recommend this game specially for those trying to avoid playing violent games in front of your kids. Play Toy Story...its easy, clean, relaxing fun for you and your kids!
I can see you don't like playing my game in front of your kids well that's good we need more parents that are actually wanting there kids to see good things besides killing
I'm a 16 years old guy and honestly I enjoyed this game more than any other game on the ps3 and the Xbox 360 and yes I have played Halo - GTA 5 - GTA 4 - call of duty - battlefield - uncharted - god of war - undead nightmare - red dead redemption - skyrim - infamous 2
Kevin Carroll Unless they're Banjo Kazooie Nut's and Bolts, which despite being awesome sold so poorly that the online support disappeared and the company was stripped bear (pun intended)
If you havent played this game YOU HAVE TO GET IT! Any age! you'll love this game. 2 player is the best way to play this game, Ive comepleted this game many times and It isn't easy (which is a good thing). I remember playing this game when i was 11, 12 or 13 and it was so fun. Probably the best game ever...But you have to play 2 player! It's way better that way! If this comment didnt motivate you to get the game then im sorry that you missed out on this amazingly fun game...okay goodbye
@@manman7404 You convinced me to get this game again. No joke. I had this game on the wii as a young child and was trying to decide whether or not to get again.
+PatheticVirgin 69 Whoa, settle down! I’m just discussing my personal experience with the game. I’ll admit that I haven’t played the game since I was pretty young, and I honestly sucked at games back then, and if I played it now, I would probably agree that its a pretty easy game, but theres no need to be an ass!
He forgot to mention the multiplayer! Eh, I'll just tell you guys how the multiplayer is. Multiplayer is awesome. You can play co-op in the toybox mode as Woody, Jessie, or Buzz. The missions don't ever really rely on friends to help, but racing the other player is fun. On foot, car, or horse, multiplayer in the game never gets stale or boring. HE ALSO FORGOT TO MENTION ZURG! I'll do that too. Zurg is a PS3 exclusive toybox character. He has a rapid fire gun and a car, that's about it.
Nice Mark, when you said you painted the town red and named it hell, I instantly thought of High Plains Drifter! It's good too see you have a good taste in western movies, Hang 'em high was really good too! Most people think The good The bad and The ugly is the Only good Clint Eastwood western! The outlaw Josey Wales and Pale Rider where also great.
Originally I didn’t like the idea of Toy story 3 coming out since to me it was just an excuse to market the merchandise again. But then I saw it & it wasn’t something they just shat out to make cash, it was really well done & one of the best movies of the year. The game looks like its set after the movie ends judging by that little clip you showed at the start.
@NightGoblin5 Understood. Plus I just love listening to Mark because he's so positive. It's so rare to see those kind of reviews for the casual player. Thanks :D
Toy Story almost makes me cry tears of joy every time I see something about it. I LOVED the movies and the second game as a kid, and even councerding the fact that Im 16 now (and suck at spelling), I want to watch the third movie and play the third game!
The plastic soldiers reminded me of the "army men" franchise, particularly the game Army Men 2 (1999). I remember that game counted as a "kid's game", but it was way more challenging and when you lost, you would receive a messed up cutscene (Sarge pissing himself or getting melted by a magnifying glass)
... about 5 or 4ish years ago I had a ps3 and I have to say ITS GRATE fun amazing colorful and just the best but I do not remember alot of it but for the memories I can say it is good... btw I thought it was a lost game lol
This game is getting pretty good (positive) reviews from a number of different publications. I'm an avid gamer at 32 and think I might have to rent this one and try it out. I loved Ice Age and Monters vs Aliens so I'm thinking I'll enjoy this. To comment on this review, I think the guy doing the voice over should focus more on the game and try not to get sidetracked as easy as he does in his reviews. I just wanna know about the game he's reviewing.
I bought this game out of nostalgia (I loved the Toy Story 2 game for PS1) a while back. After completing the story mode and playing in the free-roam mode for a number of hours, I eventually got bored and traded it in to help get some retro games.
I remember in kindergarden when my friend would always came to school complaining how Toy Story for the N64 was hard as hell. Its funny because he stil cant beat it. :D
wow :O I remember playing the second game for the PC :O so mush has change, so mush time and yet it feels like it wasn't that long ago, I am a high school student now, and I play video games for real, like MGS and FF and SO, and not, those type of video games that are based on children films :') ...so nostalgic :'')''
I'm usually skeptic about video games based on movies being good, but this one looks gorgeous. Even though some games have powerful graphics like Gears of War 2 or Resident Evil 5, I think I prefer cartoony style like Okami and Zelda: Windwaker, who's with me?
Funny that Doom is brought up because that's what I thought of when playing Toy Story 1 on the Genesis, because there was that creepy first person view level where you had to find the aliens. Good timing as well with Red Dead Redemption's release a month earlier, since the comparisons will be present. On a side note, I hope Red Dead Revolver (it's PS2 version) gets some more attention from its big brother's popularity, because it had some fun characters & crazy bad guys along with a good story.
I see the difficulty in Toy Story games has gone down since the first one was released on the Genesis.... I still have that game and play it on occasion :D
Challenge isn't really a problem for a game like this for me. challenging games can start making kids rage and go crazy. For me it would more about the replay value. Which would be good if I was a parent. Kids would be busy a lot and never bother me while I am busy. With so many great games that are M-rated nowadays. This is a great alternative like Minecraft to have kids keep on playing and make them more creative.
Well to be fair the reason why most were challenging back then were because they were short. Look terminator for the genesis its only four levels and it's really difficult.
Nowadays, games are insanely easy. I still can't believe that in Super Mario Galaxy there is an option that allows you to bypass any level if it's too difficult for you. It's like George Carlin used to say... they don't tell kids "you lost" anymore. They say to them, "YOU'RE THE LAST WINNER".
@Obliverate15 I wasn't bitching arount complaining him not reviewing games for PC. I was complaining with him not wanting people to know it's for the PC
@VideoGamingDog Yea, becuase Toy Story 2 starts out as Rex playing the Buzz Lightyear game and losing, complaining that he cannot reach the "fire' button and "jump" at the same time. and he was playing it on a Super Nintendo =P im surprised they didn't change the controller for the Xbox and Ps3 version for this game =P

That's the best thing about video games! It doesn't matter how highly rated, or how many were sold. Just that you had a blast playing them!
Kevin Carroll Unless they're Banjo Kazooie Nut's and Bolts, which despite being awesome sold so poorly that the online support disappeared and the company was stripped bear (pun intended)
i played the whole game with my little brother and enjoyed the hell out of it
i cant believe I'm saying this but this game looks so fun
don't worry i feel the same way
jonah pointer I'm 16 and I still play this game all the time the toybox is some of the most fun I've had in gaming no lie
If you havent played this game YOU HAVE TO GET IT! Defintely a good game, but calling it ridiculously easy is just wrong. This game can be really hard.
I loved Toy Story on the Genesis and the PS1 so I'll probably give this a shot as well!
One of the few games based on movies that don't suck
I loved the mini levels you would get with the special buildings you would unlock. I still remember the haunted house and race tracks
I played the heck out if this game the year it came out, I still have very fond memories of it...
same man. alot of people havent heard of this classic game. I used to play the hell out of this game
Yeah, for my kids.....
I remember seeing gameplay of this year's ago when I was but a wee lad. And I just realized I can get it on ps5, so I think I might have too
this game was fun I got it day 1 and now have 100% platinum
OUCH! That pounding block with the spikes at the end looked Painfull.
The opening sequence by far was the best scene in the film. Definetly my fav.
Toy Story 2 on the Nintendo 64 was the first game I ever bought with my own money. I loved it then and I still love it today!
Nice Mark, when you said you painted the town red and named it hell, I instantly thought of High Plains Drifter! It's good too see you have a good taste in western movies, Hang 'em high was really good too! Most people think The good The bad and The ugly is the Only good Clint Eastwood western! +Faolan Hart (Animal Above The Man) It is technically set after the movie, but its the characters retelling the events of the movie.
LOL
love the High Plains Drifter reference.
Clint Eastwood rocks those man-with-no-name roles.
"riight, blame the iPad (good system)"
"Baaack to the Game Boy!"
LOL
the ending is hilarious *throws cow off a cliff * HAHAAHHAHAHAH
@NightGoblin5 Understood. Plus I just love listening to Mark because he's so positive. It's so rare to see those kind of reviews for the casual player. Thanks :D
I always love the last 5 seconds of cgr's videos.
I watched the toy story when I was four or five and have been hooked ever since. Even though I'm 19 now I love this game lol
i really love how you throw a cow off a cliff then started dancing XD
Wow. The graphics are pretty fucking good
oh man i love Toy Commander! he should review it! i didn't even know he was aware of it until this review, the Toy Story 2 game was pretty good too
Toy box, so much stuff to do. And it looks gorgeous too.
Played this games as a joke, discovered that is a really good game and really puts me into the toy story mood.
totally agree the old games were much more challenging which is what made them much more fun!
I laughed so loud at the end. I've died that way in that game several times.
Love the movies, and getting a PS3 soon so I will have to get this game only because I can be a kid again, and relive the movies.
@TeshiKennedy117 Red Steel also has that "cartoony" style you're talking about. It's called "cell-shade" I believe.
I Played Toy Story 2 on ps1 and loved it as a kid .
Toy Story almost makes me cry tears of joy every time I see something about it. I LOVED the movies and the second game as a kid, and even councerding the fact that Im 16 now (and suck at spelling), I want to watch the third movie and play the third game!
Got this game on the 360 when it first came out. Pretty awesome
That ending...
I'm 32 and i have to admit this game looks awesome. i'll buy it for my niece- then i'll play it!
mark makes reviewing a work of art
You should review Yakuza 3. There are quite a few reviews about it but i want to see one done by you because you make awesome reviews.
this makes me wanna play toy story 2 again :D love that game, loved it as a kid
i love how mark says comfortable
The plastic soldiers reminded me of the "army men" franchise, particularly the game Army Men 2 (1999). I remember that game counted as a "kid's game", but it was way more challenging and when you lost, you would receive a messed up cutscene (Sarge pissing himself or getting melted by a magnifying glass)
@TheTRI23 If I'm not mistaken they've made Toy Story games for consoles before - There was a Toy Story 2 game for the PS1 that was pretty awesome...
dude I am 40 and I am going to buy this game for myself looks awesome! like the movie as well.
Toy Commander? That game was so hard to beat. Give me toy story 3 any time.
The Buzz Lightyear stage at 2:36 reminds me of the Moguera stage in "Godzilla: Save the Earth" if you know what i'm talking about.
Hell yeah High Plains Drifter is an awesome movie, my favourite western infact.
I like how Buzz Light year dies at the end :D
I really liked this game, not as good as Toy Story 2 for the PS1 but I still enjoyed it. Also got the platinum!
- Tim
Oh my gosh, 5:22 absolutely slayed me.
This was the hardest game in the world for me as a kid.
got this game few days ago and even though i'm 17 its freaking awesome ^__^ totally recommend it
I guess my kids would like this game when they get older.
CGR should review the old 3D platformer. That was some great stuff.
Still enjoy Toy Story 2 on N64, might grab this.
i loved this game. i brought it for no reason and my little friend brandon loves it lol
... about 5 or 4ish years ago I had a ps3 and I have to say ITS GRATE fun amazing colorful and just the best but I do not remember alot of it but for the memories I can say it is good...
btw I thought it was a lost game lol
@ InecomCompany It is a launch title for PS2. I have this game, it came with my new, slimmer PS2 last year
This game is getting pretty good (positive) reviews from a number of different publications. I'm an avid gamer at 32 and think I might have to rent this one and try it out. I loved Ice Age and Monters vs Aliens so I'm thinking I'll enjoy this.

wow i wish this game were out when i was younger
i got this game on PC, i was dissapointed by it's version of the Toy Box mode and it's graphics, but i did enjoy it a lot
I remember in kindergarden when my friend would always came to school complaining how Toy Story for the N64 was hard as hell. Its funny because he stil cant beat it. :D

i just love good gaming memories

"throws cow off cliff"
biggest celebration ever!!!!
I hope Mark gets Toy Story 1 for Mega Drive one day. It's supposed to be "the last great Mega Drive game".
Looks like a decent kids game.
Only Mark could convince me so!
you know what the buzz lightyear stages reminded me of?
Ratchet & Clank
I don't remember any game on Genesis holding my hand, I remember they were kicking my ass at times.
Funny that Doom is brought up because that's what I thought of when playing Toy Story 1 on the Genesis, because there was that creepy first person view level where you had to find the aliens. this is a awesome game i love it and did not stop playing for a full 18 hours
im 13 and i am proud of it :D
@richardh754 Do you have a 1080p monitor or tv? If not, you can''t, but if you do, you should be able to make that resolution in the menu of the game.
When you said that there was something missing I expected it to be flamethrowers.
Challenge isn't really a problem for a game like this for me. challenging games can start making kids rage and go crazy. For me it would more about the replay value. holy crap! that brings back so much memories! :D
One of the best games of all times...
@KingzEric Yeah, I love to point that out when ever I watch Toy Story 2
that game was sick , iv still got it
yeah l remember playing toy story on the Sega megadrive and it was a surprisingly challenging game.
You gotta be kidding me! I have this on Wii and I found this........ super hard!
The Snes one was so damn hard.
One of the best games of all time
Well to be fair the reason why most were challenging back then were because they were short. Look terminator for the genesis its only four levels and it's really difficult.
I'm not even a kid (I'm 20) and this game looks fun!!! Is the Wii version similar or completely different...?
You forgot to mention that in the PS3 version (the one that you were playing) you can play as Zurg.
5:09
*throw cow off a cliff to its death*
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!!!!"
I really like the reviews and all, except it gets off topic ALOT, sometimes I just want to know about the game
I'm playing it right now (and you have 64 likes which is awesome because I had it on the n64.
Maybe they should do a Buzz Lightyear game with Halo style gamplay! I'll buy it :)
this is one of the few awesome liscenced games.
The first game I ever owned was Toy Story 2 for the gbc. It wasn't that great, but I played the hell out of it anyway.
@Obliverate15 I wasn't bitching arount complaining him not reviewing games for PC. I was complaining with him not wanting people to know it's for the PC
i remember the game of Toy Story 1
i love it
I have this game on the Wii.
I LOVED TOY COMMANDER! :D
MArk should review the old Toy Story games too.
